    Know alot of people who have doubts about the plastic internals diffs. But honestly: my XV-01 has been running a 4000kv brushless system on 3S for 2 years now, without any problems.

    Thanks for the presentation Rex. So many input, I'll keep my comment dowon to two points.
    It's a little bit disturbing Tamiya made a car without a body and put the posts to spots that don't fit to existing bodies.
    Yes, engineers/designers and mechanics live in different worlds, sometimes galaxies. So here it's usual for many producers to put the battery in the trunk and the engine in the front (not kidding).
    Over all the VX-02 is a great chassis.👍
    Shaft vs. belt. Belt is a little bit smoother and has less wear. But it takes more maintenance afterwards to keep up the right tension. So for me shafts are more interesting than belts.

    Thanks for putting all that together Rex! Being new to the rally car scene I don't know much about any of them really and only have the experience from the one car (which was wonderful!) so getting insight from you is very helpful. I am looking forward to the run video and seeing what you thoughts are about this one. I am hoping later this year they release a full kit on this chassis and I may pick one up. I am hoping they release it as a standard kit minus all the hop-up parts to reduce the price a tiny bit but we'll see. Seeing they just raised prices across the board on kits I may be out o luck in those hopes!

    Hi Rex, a great review of the XV-02 chassis. I am lucky enough to have a XV-01 yet to build and looking forward to a challenging Tamiya chassis. I’m liking the look of the XV-02 chassis. They are quite different vehicles and I hope you get to try both but if you are not looking for the absolute fastest lap times, the xv-01 is still very fine and fun but the xv-02 is much much easier to work on

  • @anub1s15
    @anub1s15 Год назад +1

    looks like a really nice kit, planning a rally build myself but went the TT-02 route which will take some mods and tinkering but gone try and make it a poor man's XV-02 :P (I don't have any other RC cars or anything like that it'll probably be my only one and might not see much use so splashing on a XV-02 just seems unjustifiable as just the cassis is what I currently have planned + electronics + hopup parts)
    TT-02 subaru 22b monte carlo and a 97 celica GT-4 body + rims on the way (honestly if I couldn't have sourced a celica body I probably wouldn't even be building one, love that car even if it was cought cheating, and I couldn't find a nice widebody MK4 supra or a AE86 Trueno body which would have been option B and C, love me some toyota's :P).
    now the tough quest of picking what hop-up parts will allow me to emulate a XV-02's setup as best I can on a budget...not tossing 80 bucks at dampeners :P but that will be clearen when I have the TT-02 put together and can see what I would like to change/be able to adjust (first step is probably dampener arm's/dampeners to get the springs more upright rather then diagonal, not sure that's whats best but they did with the XV's so....)

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  Год назад +1

      setup is a very deep topic, with many factors, but typically speaking the upright shocks allow more initial roll of the vehicle, maing it slower to respond and easier to drive but increases grip on loose surfaces...many other factor involved though. the TT-02 can be made to have more travel and much more free moving suspension, but its geometry with the stock arms (NON SR or SRX) just doesnt work to its full potential, so I made a video of my rwd TT-02 porsche and how i increased suspension travel and increased ground clearnce, check it out

    How does this compare to the wr8 flux for bashing purposes? Worth getting over the wr8?

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  2 года назад +1

      Hi! Thanks for stopping by to chat, in my opinion this xv-02 is not really intended for bashing, although much fun could be had. The hpi wr8 “seems” like a more bash worthy model considering the 1/10the scale off road truck/buggy style chassis and suspension setup, lots of suspension travel and very plush for multi terrain, also much bigger than the xv-02. I feel like the xv-02 leans more towards spec racing. This is all said with the term “bashing” meaning high jumps, unreasonable non scale speeds, and lots of full throttle. If fun is what you want you cant go wrong with either i feel. I’ll get my wr8 running maybe in the fall and talk about it…no promises yet

      @@rexrcshi, did you have a chance to compare both? I am debating myself whether to get an XV-02 or the WR8. So far leaning towards the tamiya due to the tinkering side of it, which one do you like better?

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  3 месяца назад

      @@shaoranrch hi and thanks for stoping in, both vehicles can be tuned and tinkered with, however the wr8 is a better one and done car overall for the general rc enthusiast. The xv-02 being much smaller is limited to where it can run, in my opinion. Do you have a fairly flat grounds where you can play with the xv-02?
