In a discord server someone had an interesting theory about Camilla. In Camila’s nightmare, her dream was being filled with water. They said that Manny died in something water related. They believe this because of the fact because of how quick Camilla was to act and save Hunter, even before Luz. Plus the fact that she sounded so determined as she said “Move.” It’s an interesting theory that Camilla acted so quick to save Hunter because she couldn’t save her husband in the past. If this turned out to be true then holy shit the grief and guilt Camilla must’ve felt
I don't think so, in the first of Luz's videos she mentions they moved to that house because there was a better hospital for dad. I think that means he had cancer or something similar.

For Flapjack - btw did anyone else notice that Hunter finished looking almost exactly like Caleb - with brown eyes rather than the Grimwalker Magenta eyes? In the ‘recipe’ for Grimwalkers, the eye colour being magenta was key. Does that mean he isn’t quite a Grimwalker anymore? (His eyes are also the same colour as Luz as well). Also noticed that Owlbert seemed to be on top of the tube of titan’s blood - definitely more links to Eda and the Clawthorne clan.
I like to think Hunter is closer to being an organic human being/witch being(?) than before. Although I think the key to Flapjack's sacrifice is that he kinda merged with Hunter to heal him, seeing how Hunter's eyes turned brown and tje light went all over Hunter's body and wounds. Makes me think if this is how palismans's healing truly work. Belos used palismans to heal himself but it was always forced so it was incomplete and left a "body."
@@msk-qp6fn How the palismen are used to heal makes so much sense. The scars were similar but of course we know Belos had the goop problem. It makes sense that there were be more bad with forced healing than the palismen choosing to heal the person/ witch. It’s also possible that Belos had problems with fully healing bc he is a human and not a witch. It’s possible it could be a combination of forced healing and not being a witch. I also think that the reason why flapjack sacrificed himself was bc he couldn’t save the original Caleb

Ok I heard a theory where when Flapjack uses his magic to save Hunter some people think that Hunter absorbed Flapjack including his powers. You can also so that Hunters eye color changes from megenta to brown, just like Flapjacks eyes. I also saw a fan made comics that showed Hunter being able to do that same things that Flapjack could do. And if kinda hope that Hunter has Flapjacks powers.
Man. If this is the quality of the specials, we can feel reassured that the show is going out with a bang at the very least. It just had everything I could have wished for, they used the extra runtime for character development, it had the heartwarming moments, it had the sad moments, it even had the moments that are just fanservice lmfao.
There was actually a hint of Camila not wanting to send Luz away to Camp since Yesterday's Lie. If you remember well, one of the things that Camila told Luz she was gonna learn at camp was to "appreciate public radio", and in Yesterday's Lie, once Camila takes Vee as Luz, she says that "she can control the playlist on the ride to camp", basically hinting that maybe Luz would learn to act normal in Camp, but Camila didn't even want to send her in the first place, that being confirmed in this episode.
I loved Hunter before this episode, but WOW. This episode made him one of my favorite characters in all of media. Seeing him fight Belos and be so willing to sacrifice himself to protect his friends and others people was so emotional. He’s such a likable character and I pray he gets a happy ending (with Willow perhaps?). Also, FOR FLAPJACK!!!!!!
(also I think theirs not too much time for Huntlow to become a thing during the show, but I think its going to end like in Gravity Falls where Dipper x Pacifica becomes a thing.
That moment with Hunter and Luz where they go into the basement, and then Luz tells him he’s family now nearly filled me with more emotions than Flapjack’s sacrifice FOR FLAPJACK!!

I think Dana said during an interview that she wrote Luz to be neurodivergent and in past seasons she was heavily ADHD-coded. This episode was the first owl house episode I have watched after getting my own diagnosis and holy crap I see it now. The fact that Camila is shown to relate to her daughter quirks, the fact that she was bullied in highschool, her chaotic room, etc, makes me think that Camila is also supposed to be neurodivergent. I mean she has a room filled with fan merch for a show she probably had as much of a fixation on as Luz has for the Azura series. That all may also be interpreted as her just being similar to Luz, but I like the interpretation of Camila as a woman with likely undiagnosed ADHD raising her daughter who also has ADHD. Also Luz's monolouge about how she IS trying and does have super cool skills, they just aren't skills that the world sees as valuable was sooo relatable and so sad. I can not wait to see the next special because if Camila is anything like her daughter (as we know now that they are super similar) she is going to be an absolute badass in the boiling isles. I also can not wait for Camila to bond with Eda.

For Flappack!!!This episode was awesome but it was so upsetting that he died.The artwork was amazing and made some amazing character plot especially for Camilla.
The fight scene was epic, Camila and Vee were wholesome, Lumity was perfection by just existing, Willow definitely looked like she was prepared to scream for an ambulance so loud it’d reach China if they couldn’t call 911, and Gus was definitely concerned for his bro.
Also, I think it's worth to mention that Hunter no longer has the "Grimwalker eyes", but his own. I think it shows a lot of symbolism. ... For Flapjack❤️

For flapjack!! Amazing episode, took hunter, Camila and Liz’s character to another level in such short time!! Props to the writers for doing all this and more, if only we had more time!!
I got my mom into this show and we watched this premiere together. Camila and Luz's relationship is so sweet and touching to me. As a neurodivergent kid, my parents were put under a lot of pressure to put me in special and expensive treatments because I was "different". But they refused because, according to my mom's words, "people try too hard to put a label on everything". The dream sequence felt all too familiar. I'm in college now, but I love that this representation is shown for kids who also might be "different", especially neurodivergent and POC kids. It's not that something's wrong with them, it's that people need to learn to be more accepting of others. Love this show, also RIP Flapjack 😭
The giraffe being a disgusting creature is a reference to a joke in the first episode, where Eda mentions that they had banished giraffes to the Human Realm, calling them "buncha freaks" Which explains why they're like that, imo XD
This is a weird thing to focus on but I appreciate you acknowledging that the whole Evelyn/ Philip/ Caleb situation is more complex then it appears. A lot of the TOH fandom has taken Masha’s account of events (and even their joke as complete fact). And for some reason people think Philip wanted to date Evelyn? Which is obviously ridiculous considering everything his character stands for and represents. Idk. Anyway, it’s just a relief.
Couple things, 1) I think Willow dressed up as the bat queen. 2) I have a theory that when everyone returns to the boiling isles it might seem normal, kind of like a puppet show, and like king and the collector might be controlling everyone. 3) I definitely see some relation between Eda's father and Philip and Caleb's. The main one being the Palismen on Eda's father. It looks a lot like flapjack. 4) I love the Amphibia references and other references to the boiling isles. 5) RIP Flapjack♥
Another noticeable thing that is a very nice touch is when Belos/Hunter the water just started sinking because he doesn't know how to swim. Belos wouldn't know because not many people thought it was necessary to be taught at the time, and nobody from the boiling isles would know because the sea is boiling, and they ain't swimming there. This is also why none of the boiling isles people went in to save him either- granted, Luz didn't either.
All of hunters new scars are where Bellos was expressed on him. Flapjack healing Hunter is expressing the internal scaring that Bellos has brought him.
When I watched that episode I cried when flapjack died (mind you this is coming from a person who didn’t cry during A Dog’s Purpose) and once they said For Flapjack I kept repeating it while I cried myself to sleep so all I have to say is, for flapjack.

I'm actually kinda sad that Vee stayed in the human realm. She became good friend in the last months with the group, had a lot memories with them and became kinda of a main character. I was kinda hoping she could get more room, but instead she got treated like a secondary character
Keep in mind though that with a full Season 3 we WOULD have gotten more screen time from her since she'd have probably been in almost every Earth episode if not all of them. Just judging from the scrapbook images (she was in most of them), which I like to think are all scrapped episode ideas that the crew wish they'd been able to make. So, knowing that softens the blow of her staying behind a bit, but yes, I can agree that it would have been cool to have her along too. She's grown on me a lot. If it makes you feel any better she got treated better than most side characters in other shows. Most of them don't even get involved in plot heavy fights, whereas at least Vee did actually fight Belos too.
Well you also have to remember that Vee DOESN'T have great memories of the Boiling Isles/Demon Relm because of all the TRAUMATIC EXPERIMENTS & BEING LOCKED IN A CAGE. Which she had said "I'm not ready yet" (I'm probably paraphrasing here but it's close).
Also, For those who didn't notice: After Flapjack sacrifices himself, Hunter wakes up with Brown eyes instead of his signature magenta. He looks more like Caleb.

A detail that some people miss is how the're so many coupons next to Camila's bed. It shows how much of a struggle is it to keep six children fed, but she's giving her best. It's easy to miss, but it gives so much character to Camila. They really did justice to her in that episode.
Pls i have to talk about the fact that at least for me this episode pretty much confirmed that Gus actually knew that Hunter is a grimwalker from season 2. I mean Gus and Hunter have a parallel relationship between them and the two characters from that space book they both liked, and in the first place Gus got Hunter to read the book because there was a character that was a clone(●●). On Halloween night they both dress up as those characters, and Hunter is dressed like the one who is a clone in secret. And when Hunter is dressed like the character from the book, they talk about the ending where Hunter is saying that the other character in the book is figuring out that his friend is a clone although he is still hiding it but Gus said he thinks that this character already knew .(And then hunter covers he's ears from spoilers which just makes me more confident about this and feels like a straight up clue┌(★ｏ☆)┘ )
Oh yeah, I came here to note this. Gus recommending it was literally him trying to hint to Hunter that he knows. He made it more direct when hunter dressed up as he argued they already knew, trying to help him understand it'll be okay, knowing he's afraid for whatever reason. Even during the hay ride, you watch Gus' expression shift from horror to understanding. The why of Hunter being scared has now clicked into place, but he still feels accepting.
I think he did. Remember that in King's Tide Gus used the magic mirror he took from Gray on Belos, which caused it to flash images of Caleb and what happened to him at the hands of Belos, as well as an image of the first grimwalker being created. The wielder of that mirror thing can see the memories, part of the reason Gray wanted to use it on Gus, so it stands to reason Gus saw those memories as they were flashing by too, and put two and two together, no doubt noticing the strong resemblance to Caleb. It's interesting to note that when Luz slipped that Hunter was a grimwalker, Gus didn't seem surprised at all.
The giraffe monster reference is from the first episode. Where Eda said that we banished thoes creeps. And in the scrapbook the movie night isn’t amphibia. Its actually hocus pocus😳

I absolutely adore this episode. I watched it at 3 in the morning (timezones are wild) and I was literally broken completely to the point in which I barely slept today. I’m so excited for the next specials in 2023!

FOR FLAPJACK, even though you were only a fictional character it's hard to think about your death. the best palismen of all, wish you could've stayed much longer. you may have left early, but you helped hunter out of his slump and the character development would have never happened. thank you flapjack.
My favorite part is all the little Huntlow references! If you're paying attention there's at least 2 times Hunter blushes in his interactions with Willow ☺️ Anyways I cried several times. This episode was an emotional roller-coaster.
Willow was also VERY flirtatious in this episode. Her defending Hunter’s outfit and being so worried about him is so sweet. If Huntlow wasn’t obvious then, it’s obvious now!

This was FANTASTIC!!! I love how Camila is understanding Luz better, especially how she tried to defend Luz during her dream. I love how Hunter is becoming more and more like Caleb, which will no doubt infuriate Belos when they meet again. But let's hope he doesn't get any more scars. They look great and all, but Hunter has suffered more than enough. Perhaps Flapjack's sacrifice will allow Hunter to use magic. Speaking of magic, I'm thinking Vee will have to use some of the magic she absorbed from Belos to operate the car and lock the doors to the houses.
This was a great episode! There were some great scenes like Luz calling Hunter family and all that. I also like how the animation was fluid during the fight scene near the end. And yeah, rip Flapack.

It gave me those same vibes and my brain was jumping around screaming for Luz to run away or something- because- him being my favorite character, and his trauma + trust issues made me get nervous for both of their saftey
If you rewatch that scene at 11:15 you’ll notice that Guz and Hunter are talking about the book and Hunter says O’Bailey(Hunter) is still hiding as a duplicate(being a clone of Caleb) but Captain Avery(Guz) is suspicious and Guz says ‘I think he already knows’ meaning Guz knows Hunter’s a grimwalker since in King’s Tide Guz saw inside Belo’s mind and was freaked out. Dana even took it a step further by making Hunter shout ‘No no no spoilers’ because that’s foreshadowing
At 16:08 I think they are actually watching Hocus Pocus, thats Sarah, Mary, and Winifred Sanderson in a flipped version of how they were in posters. The art is closer with Winnie having red hair and a green dress, Sarah blonde and red and Mary black and red. Plus, all the witches have bored or annoyed faces, probably upset to see how witches are hated in this world and the new Hocus Pocus came out so it might be a nod to that.
FOR FLAPJACK I completely geeked out over this special. This ep answered so many questions but raised additional questions. As far as Luz's palisman, I believe it'll be a snake creature too. Really looking forward to the last two specials.

I loved Hunter before this episode, but WOW. This episode made him one of my favorite characters in all of media. Seeing him fight Belos and be so willing to sacrifice himself to protect his friends and others people was so emotional. He’s such a likable character and I pray he gets a happy ending (with Willow perhaps?).

I think Dana said during an interview that she wrote Luz to be neurodivergent and in past seasons she was heavily ADHD-coded. This episode was the first owl house episode I have watched after getting my own diagnosis and holy crap I see it now.
The fact that Camila is shown to relate to her daughter quirks, the fact that she was bullied in highschool, her chaotic room, etc, makes me think that Camila is also supposed to be neurodivergent. I mean she has a room filled with fan merch for a show she probably had as much of a fixation on as Luz has for the Azura series. That all may also be interpreted as her just being similar to Luz, but I like the interpretation of Camila as a woman with likely undiagnosed ADHD raising her daughter who also has ADHD.
Also Luz's monolouge about how she IS trying and does have super cool skills, they just aren't skills that the world sees as valuable was sooo relatable and so sad.
I can not wait to see the next special because if Camila is anything like her daughter (as we know now that they are super similar) she is going to be an absolute badass in the boiling isles. I also can not wait for Camila to bond with Eda.

The fight scene was epic, Camila and Vee were wholesome, Lumity was perfection by just existing, Willow definitely looked like she was prepared to scream for an ambulance so loud it’d reach China if they couldn’t call 911, and Gus was definitely concerned for his bro.
Also, I think it's worth to mention that Hunter no longer has the "Grimwalker eyes", but his own. I think it shows a lot of symbolism.

I got my mom into this show and we watched this premiere together. Camila and Luz's relationship is so sweet and touching to me. As a neurodivergent kid, my parents were put under a lot of pressure to put me in special and expensive treatments because I was "different". But they refused because, according to my mom's words, "people try too hard to put a label on everything". The dream sequence felt all too familiar. I'm in college now, but I love that this representation is shown for kids who also might be "different", especially neurodivergent and POC kids. It's not that something's wrong with them, it's that people need to learn to be more accepting of others. Love this show, also RIP Flapjack 😭
The giraffe being a disgusting creature is a reference to a joke in the first episode, where Eda mentions that they had banished giraffes to the Human Realm, calling them "buncha freaks"

This is a weird thing to focus on but I appreciate you acknowledging that the whole Evelyn/ Philip/ Caleb situation is more complex then it appears. A lot of the TOH fandom has taken Masha’s account of events (and even their joke as complete fact). And for some reason people think Philip wanted to date Evelyn? Which is obviously ridiculous considering everything his character stands for and represents. Idk. Anyway, it’s just a relief.
Couple things,
1) I think Willow dressed up as the bat queen.
2) I have a theory that when everyone returns to the boiling isles it might seem normal, kind of like a puppet show, and like king and the collector might be controlling everyone.
3) I definitely see some relation between Eda's father and Philip and Caleb's. The main one being the Palismen on Eda's father. It looks a lot like flapjack.
4) I love the Amphibia references and other references to the boiling isles.

Another noticeable thing that is a very nice touch is when Belos/Hunter the water just started sinking because he doesn't know how to swim. Belos wouldn't know because not many people thought it was necessary to be taught at the time, and nobody from the boiling isles would know because the sea is boiling, and they ain't swimming there. This is also why none of the boiling isles people went in to save him either- granted, Luz didn't either.
I believe that Evelyn was part of the Clawthorne family. And created Flapjack to guide Caleb to be a better man.

I'm actually kinda sad that Vee stayed in the human realm. She became good friend in the last months with the group, had a lot memories with them and became kinda of a main character. I was kinda hoping she could get more room, but instead she got treated like a secondary character

Keep in mind though that with a full Season 3 we WOULD have gotten more screen time from her since she'd have probably been in almost every Earth episode if not all of them. Just judging from the scrapbook images (she was in most of them), which I like to think are all scrapped episode ideas that the crew wish they'd been able to make.
So, knowing that softens the blow of her staying behind a bit, but yes, I can agree that it would have been cool to have her along too. She's grown on me a lot.
If it makes you feel any better she got treated better than most side characters in other shows. Most of them don't even get involved in plot heavy fights, whereas at least Vee did actually fight Belos too.
Well you also have to remember that Vee DOESN'T have great memories of the Boiling Isles/Demon Relm because of all the TRAUMATIC EXPERIMENTS & BEING LOCKED IN A CAGE. Which she had said "I'm not ready yet" (I'm probably paraphrasing here but it's close).
Also, For those who didn't notice: After Flapjack sacrifices himself, Hunter wakes up with Brown eyes instead of his signature magenta. He looks more like Caleb.

Pls i have to talk about the fact that at least for me this episode pretty much confirmed that Gus actually knew that Hunter is a grimwalker from season 2. I mean Gus and Hunter have a parallel relationship between them and the two characters from that space book they both liked, and in the first place Gus got Hunter to read the book because there was a character that was a clone(●●). On Halloween night they both dress up as those characters, and Hunter is dressed like the one who is a clone in secret. And when Hunter is dressed like the character from the book, they talk about the ending where Hunter is saying that the other character in the book is figuring out that his friend is a clone although he is still hiding it but Gus said he thinks that this character already knew .(And then hunter covers he's ears from spoilers which just makes me more confident about this and feels like a straight up clue┌(★ｏ☆)┘ )

Oh yeah, I came here to note this. Gus recommending it was literally him trying to hint to Hunter that he knows. He made it more direct when hunter dressed up as he argued they already knew, trying to help him understand it'll be okay, knowing he's afraid for whatever reason. Even during the hay ride, you watch Gus' expression shift from horror to understanding. The why of Hunter being scared has now clicked into place, but he still feels accepting.
There this theory that In Season 2 finale when Gus try to stop Belos he saw all his memories for moment and your analysis confirm that even more👍
I think he did. Remember that in King's Tide Gus used the magic mirror he took from Gray on Belos, which caused it to flash images of Caleb and what happened to him at the hands of Belos, as well as an image of the first grimwalker being created. The wielder of that mirror thing can see the memories, part of the reason Gray wanted to use it on Gus, so it stands to reason Gus saw those memories as they were flashing by too, and put two and two together, no doubt noticing the strong resemblance to Caleb.
It's interesting to note that when Luz slipped that Hunter was a grimwalker, Gus didn't seem surprised at all.

One thing I also like to think about is the fact that Luz’s dad is there with them both when they enter the portal, because of that scene with Luz putting on the Azura hat. Azura was her Dad’s final gift to her.

FOR FLAPJACK, even though you were only a fictional character it's hard to think about your death. the best palismen of all, wish you could've stayed much longer. you may have left early, but you helped hunter out of his slump and the character development would have never happened. thank you flapjack.
My favorite part is all the little Huntlow references! If you're paying attention there's at least 2 times Hunter blushes in his interactions with Willow ☺️
Anyways I cried several times. This episode was an emotional roller-coaster.
Willow was also VERY flirtatious in this episode. Her defending Hunter’s outfit and being so worried about him is so sweet. If Huntlow wasn’t obvious then, it’s obvious now!

They look great and all, but Hunter has suffered more than enough. Perhaps Flapjack's sacrifice will allow Hunter to use magic.
Speaking of magic, I'm thinking Vee will have to use some of the magic she absorbed from Belos to operate the car and lock the doors to the houses.

If you rewatch that scene at 11:15 you’ll notice that Guz and Hunter are talking about the book and Hunter says O’Bailey(Hunter) is still hiding as a duplicate(being a clone of Caleb) but Captain Avery(Guz) is suspicious and Guz says ‘I think he already knows’ meaning Guz knows Hunter’s a grimwalker since in King’s Tide Guz saw inside Belo’s mind and was freaked out. Dana even took it a step further by making Hunter shout ‘No no no spoilers’ because that’s foreshadowing
At 16:08 I think they are actually watching Hocus Pocus, thats Sarah, Mary, and Winifred Sanderson in a flipped version of how they were in posters. The art is closer with Winnie having red hair and a green dress, Sarah blonde and red and Mary black and red.
