I need to Install a Hard drive to Toshiba Portege z30-C-16L i7-6500u Do u Know the exact specification of HD for this Model? there are different ones on ebay... ,I don't want to get the wrong one Thanks
After replacing msata from 128 to 512 gigabytes, the laptop does not want to boot from the new disk. In the bios, he sees a new disk and its size, but when it is turned on, it says that this disk is not a system disk. Neither a clean installation of Windows nor cloning of the old system to a new disk has any effect on this message. It works only with its own 128 gigabyte ssd... Flashing the bios to the latest one available did not bring a positive result. What could be the reason, are there ways to eliminate this error?
So Windows installs on the new ssd normally? All other partition/boot record properties are idential between the two? Is the new one bootable in a different laptop?
@@UltimateDIY Yes, I tried. A new disk with a cloned system from toshiba boots on another computer, but does not want to work on the toshiba. And by the way, for some reason it does not pass the self-test in the Toshiba bios... It is SSD mSATA 512GB Golden Memory (GM2020512GB). Not possible to replace the old ssd 128GB with a new 512Gb… with somway reason.
@@UltimateDIY The problem is probably that the BIOS of Toshiba does not see the boot sector in the new disk. Thanks for the replies, I've left the upgrade attempt for now. Maybe later I'll try another manufacturer's MSATA disk.
It could many things preventing it from booting from that drive, but at the end of the day the resul iit the same...not working. Different manufacturer and maybe disk size are possible sollutions.
Just in case anyone knows I've had two of these which erratically go to sleep or won't start on battery though OK on adaptor. Now I've seen your capacitor change on Dell monitor I wonder about that. Or is Windows 10 upgrade got something wrong for this laptop designed for Windows 7. They go for hours on their battery sometimes.
@@UltimateDIY get that. But do you have another laptop/machine to which you plugged in your new SSD.. My z30 is not allowing me to change the boot order so I can't make it boot from USB. It either says OS not found or asks for a supervisor password.
@@UltimateDIY Yesterday, I did upgrade from the stock 128gb to 500gb as exactly you did here. It was nice that you showed the "mSATA" writing on the ssd so that I bought the correct ssd.

I mean this exact particular drive on another pc. The drive might have a problem, so that needs to be rulled out.

@@vishmibox719 in your case you need to install Windows on the ssd inside another laptop.
This was nice. I have 6gb ram on this machine (4gb slot+2 gb onboard). Do you know I can make it 8gb+2gb?

Hi bro, i need thoshiba i7 mother bard
Hi. Sorry, but I don't understand what you are asking.
This is not upgrading... this replacing...
Does that change anything?
@@UltimateDIY sorry meant to say swapping, so not really an upgrade when it's the same drive. Try putting a new larger one.
