    One flaw I found on this V8 drill is that while drilling with the shaft facing down/upwards, the oil in the engine would go in a way that some bits of the engine would not get any oil. I would suggest installing a dry sump system so that every part of the engine will get the oil regardless of what angle the engine is facing.

    • @WatchmakerErik
      @WatchmakerErik 9 месяцев назад +7

      Very good point. I'm also curious how the drive shaft of the engine takes thrust loads rather than axial loads. Most car crankshafts are not made to take a load in that direction. I would fit thrust bearings.
      Overall I'm thinking that a V8 powered flex shaft machine would make more sense.
      Then again if it's about making sense...

If you lean the drill forward there’s possibly enough oil to still be getting pumped since the oil pick up is probably up front.

  • @Guns_N_Gears
    @Guns_N_Gears 10 месяцев назад +13

    I spoted a few problems.
    1st is you are applying thrust pressure on the crank that it wasn't designed for, that engine will not live long.
    2nd, the coolant taps are on the wrong end of reservoir. When you drill downward, the taps get no coolant. Fill the tank up more, or move taps.
    3rd, good for high-speed stuff but with no reduction, power is going to be lacking in a big way

    That’s absolutely the worst thing you could do to an engine is to put it sideways or upside down. It’s supposed to remain flats when you put it upside down or different directions the oil will get into places it’s not supposed to go and it’s actually gonna damage the motor..

    So funny how people can find something wrong with a one-of-a-kind thing. Like how they know it's supposed to last more than five minutes lmfao. This is by far the most American outside of the box shelf, shop talk kind of thing any mechanic or fab tech or shit I mean anyone really that does any type of work with their hands this is like a memorabilia type thing I would imagine but actually works to show off with once in a while obviously he you got other drills lol. Way impressive and hats off to ya most impressive indeed for sure. Keep on keeping on yo!!!!

    It's LITERALLY, Tim Allan from "Home Improvement"! Seriously if you were in the show Tim would do his lil "HarHarHarHar" grunt when he's talking about giving a tool MORE power Haha. I absolutely Loooooove this!!
    Man i really wish my brain worked liks this. I mean dont get me wrong i am not incompitant. But I am not nearly as skilled with things of this nature still second guess some of my work. I am just now starting to learn how to use a tape measure properly. I was horrible with math growing up.

    Awesome little project! It does amuse me, however, that so many people think its more powerful than a battery drill. This is a great analogy for an electric car. Need a battery to turn a motor to start the inefficient engine that is loud, cumbersome, & more finicky to build & maintain.

    No more silent drilling at night, without anyone noticing! Never liked that secrecy anyways.

    They said, now iis the tme to switch your gasoline powered car to a fully electric vehicle, powered by rechargeable batteries. With thatt spare V8 motor collecting dust in your garage for too long, you now have finally restored balance in your part of the universe.
    You really did an awesome DIY job, by a real V8 gasification of your old rechargeable drill!
    I would lole to build one of these gadgets myself, If i only had one of those sweet small gasoline motors available to me...
    (Someone out there wanting to hook me up with one of those?)

      These miniature engines cost thousands of dollars for some reason. Maybe you can fashion one out of a chainsaw motor instead, comes with a centrifugal clutch already, you'd theoretically only need 90 degree gears on the output, or just drill with the motor sideways!
