    Copy/paste from a previous video
    Running point buy:
    Strength: 15+1(Heavy Armor Master at 4)
    Constitution: 14+2(Warforge)+2(ASI at 12)+2(ASI at 16)
    Dexterity: 8
    Intelligence: 10
    Wisdom: 15+1(Warforge)+2(ASI at 8)
    Charisma: 8
    **Tough feat at 19
    --The reason why Constitution is brought to 20 & Wisdom to 18 is that at the end of the day, a +4 (10 at level 17) to a casting stat is enough, while Constitution is needed for one of the big 3 saving throws, health (243 at level 20, BTW) & concentration. All of this is needed for a mid/front line Cleric.
    --Strength is at 16 with Heavy Armor Master as I'm OCD as hell & hate odd numbers. Logically, however, Magic Weapon & Elemental Weapon both grant a +1 & later +2 to attack and damage rolls, making it effectively an 18 & 20, respectively. Later on, I'd be dealing 1 & eventually 2D8 fire damage with Divine Strike on top of the 1D6 from a standard hammer, 2D4 from elemental weapon & 3 from strength. This leads to an average of 20.5 damage on basic attacks plus the force damage from spiritual weapon on bonus actions.
    --Dexterity is a dump stat as both mechanically (pun) & thematically, he's a big, clunky robot who's not meant for stealth or being first in initiative. If anything, you'd want your Cleric last in initiative to know what/how to react to problems.
    --Charisma is my second dump stat purely for role-playing reasons, as his story is odd in that he's not the typical "Warforged" & has absolutely NO social skills or understanding & it's fun as hell to play. Hell, the first 2 sessions I played with him the DM split up the party 3 times & each time (to NO fault of my own) I returned to the party with crime-lord blood splatter on my face.
    I like the Forge Cleric as it is perfectly fine with both point buy & average or higher stat rolls & continues to scale well throughout the game.

    In general this is solid build.
    I think Ambush maneuver would have been other good candidate, since this build focus on Str and Wis as well as Heavy Armor, Ambush would lessen your headache from Stealth (especially when no one has Pass w/o Trace) and poor Initiative (you can resort to Spirit Guardian and Spiritual Weapon).
    In addition, I also think Battle Master would have been good Multiclass candidate, thx to many solid Manuevers such as Trip Atk, Maneuvering Atk, and many others.

      Thank you! Ambush was in my top 3 choices so I very much agree. Battle Master works well for almost any build. I wanted to go Rune Knight for not only the mechanical advantages but also because it fit the theming really easily. Overall, a build with your suggestions would also work very well

    Just a shot in the dark.
    I’m currently level 13 (11 forge cleric/2 Fighter). I love this concept, but I’m slightly concerned I’ve cornered myself here.
    I have Magic Initiate - Wizard (BB + Minor Illusion + Find Familiar).
    Crusher and Warcaster.
    I have high AC, and high HP, but I’m not actually sure where to go from here. Should I focus fighter or focus Forge Cleric? I am pretty much decided on getting 3rd level fighter for Rune Knight because it works so well. I’m a Dwarven blacksmith and love that feeling, but I don’t know where to really aim for from here.
    Also, it’s unlikely we’ll hit level 20 in our campaign. I think level 17 is our max.

      @DapperSnapperGaming  День назад +1

      Well from here, Cleric is giving higher level spells and that's about it. Fighter would make you a bit sturdier and better with weapons. I think it really depends on where your focus lies

      @@DapperSnapperGaming wow! Thank you for such a fast reply, I hadn’t even finished rewatching the video… again lol.
      Ok so, my party is myself, Paladin, Ranger, Wizard, Warlock and a Bard. So all our bases are pretty much covered.
      I am on the frontline with our Paladin and have a Dwarven Thrower. Rocking a solid 24 AC and 126 HP (I have a cloak of Protection and had amazing HP rolls on a Hill Dwarf).
      The higher level spells look… alright. Definitely nice, but they don’t necessarily excite me. Nothing really fits the theme of a 152 year old “tough love” Blacksmith.
      The Dwarves in our game have just been smashed to pieces by our BBEG, so he could very well be a member of an endangered species, so self-preservation is definitely up there. But he also won’t be seen as a coward and is VERY angry at the BBEG.
      I realise I’ve kinda dropped a lot of Fighter hints there, but really, I want to be useful for our group, but also continue having fun playing the character!

      Yeah I mean Rune Knight definitely seems like a logical next step. You can get Extra Attack and extra ASIs even. If you're not interested in higher level spells, I would go straight Fighter

    Honestly I have some issues with calling it just a cleric build if it is a muilticlass hybrid.

    19 wis? Martial weapon? Help me understand

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад +1

      So on this channel we use the modified standard array of 17 15 13 12 10 8. This is what I use at my tables and many other DMs on RUclips use this or one similar as well. Then the +2 from Custom Lineage went on the 17. The martial weapon can be used since we started in fighter. We pick up the proficiencies of whatever class we start in so these are ok to bring. If we started Cleric then we would not be able to.

    How were your starting stats so high? 19 starting wisdom, crickey. I wish any of my dms allowed that.

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад +1

      This is a modified standard array that I've been using for a long time and it actually is used by many of my DM friends and other prominent RUclipsrs as well.

    What do you think about taking seven levels and fighter so you get less spells but you get the hill rune and the storm rune? So 13 cleric 7 fighter.
    Or just taking three and fighter to guarantee more spells

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад +1

      That's also viable! That would also grant Runic Shield which would be a great defensive feature for you and your allies. Hill Rune also gives some much needed resilience as well.
