As someone who spent 10 years active duty Army and has spent countless hours in various types of ceremonies I can tell you this happens all the time. Sometimes from dehydration, overheating, illness or locking your legs out. I've seen it many times. Standing at attention for a long period of time is very difficult. I remember when I was stationed in Hawaii we had a change of command ceremony that lasted over 3 hours. We had to stand in formation that while time in a field with no shade and it was 89 degrees out thst day. Absolutely awful.
"Stress"? Yeah, sure! It's an absolute war zone guarding that coffin! Lol. Imagine being a real soldier not knowing if you're going to make it home to see your family ever again. That's stress!

Honestly, I was impressed that 73-year-old Charles was able to walk that considerable distance through the streets and then stand there in the hall so long before finally walking back to his limo.
I remember when my dad died, I was so irritable and out of sorts. Anything (even the tiniest of things) could set me off. People handle grief in different ways. He is heartbroken, tired, stressed, and feeling the weight of his new position.
I'm proud of all these comments! I was expecting snark, and there's lots of understanding for an old soldier, and an overwhelmed man who's just lost his mum. Bless you.
Agreed! I don't read RUclips comment much anymore, because the discourse is so often nasty and full of vitriol, and well...depressing. It's nice to see a little compassion in the comments!
The man is human even though he is king, his fussiness is really much ado about nothing. The man just lost his mother for crying out loud. I don’t care if a mother dies younger or older, it still hurts. Not to mention the fact that he cannot be left alone because of all of the press craziness that he has to deal with during this time. He’s not a robot, he’s allowed to be fussy about some things. Let the man breathe.
With all the pressure he’s under and grieving it’s understandable if he’s fussy or grumpy. I agree with you. I wish more people realized he’s under more stress than most people can handle
I think his rude grumpiness over a pen incident was uncalled for and inappropriate, especially with his title. Most of us have been through a close family or friend passing and whilst grieving that does not excuse pathetic behavior like he showed. IMO it was all out pathetic and childish. He's an incredibly privileged person, and it showed how catered-to he really is.
Exactly. Has none of the complainers ever swore because they dropped someone or had something spilled on them? Did he assault his staff or start smashing the place up? No, he swore and got up from his chair. The media truly does make a fuss out of nothing.
Maybe the blow to his head, ego or whatever will wake him up to this religious sect and its particular pimped-out pomp style of bread-and-circuses and have him do a 180 on it. Sometimes it takes that sort of thing to wake some people up. Glad I'm not a follower.
The media is terrible. Can critise and whine about others wihout any sympathy. All they care for is drama and sensation. Exactly what killed Diana... The man just lost his mother, he is 74 years old and has to go from here to there without a break and with all the worlds camera's on him. I'd lose my temper for less...
he did not do anything wrong..... just acted like they use to act in the other timeline... with some real emptions......but in your failed timeline this is considered "fussy"
I had many sudden outbursts of frustration and anger after my beloved mum’s death, and I didn’t have the enormous pressure of being a monarch to deal with. Give the King a break!
Poor guy must have been exhausted. I’ve stood for parade many times and I know it’s hard going, I can only imagine the immense pressure of having to stand guard for the Queen. Respect to all the guards 💂
Lol, I c.......you have no information, and now he is your best friend. Could have been drunk, etc, total respect from you, sad. It’s no wonder the country is falling apart.
I believe it's ridiculous to judge Charles at this point considering the fact his mother just passed. People need to give him time. He's caught up in the worries of family drama. Making sure his mother's funeral goes as she planned is a huge responsibility. Some people really don't let go until after the funeral. When most family and friends have gone home. It's then that some people can actually let go and grieve.
Lets remember, a king is a king, but also just a normal person with normal Feelings. Non of us whould be able to stand up so well at such a time. They where not even able to take time to grieve. So shame on the press making any of them down at this time.
My husband is the King’s age exactly, and if his mother died, and he had to go through all the ceremony, standing, processions, wearing full dress uniform, in summer no less, I imagine he’d be a bit unsteady himself, and entitled to a couple moments of fussiness as well!
I'm not a huge fan of Charles, but he is a human being, who just lost his mother and inherited the biggest role of his life. No amount of preparation prepares you for losing a parent, then taking on the role of king. Let's just give the man some grace.
When I watched the procession and ceremonies for the queen's death I couldn't but wonder how difficult physically it must be to endure that and I was worried about the older people that took part in these ceremonies who had to stand for hours without moving or in the procession walk such long distances. It's a miracle that not more people collapsed.
I think it’s horrible to force old people to stand for so long the pass out just for the death of some monarch. Relics of genocides and colonizations and suffering worldwide.
I lost my mother almost two months ago. She was almost 94. Seeing the mourning for the Queen has brought back overwhelming memories of sadness and exhaustion. I understand what King Charles is going through. Sometimes you just want your mother.
I can definitely empathise with him. I lost my mum 2 weeks ago and haven't cried or taken time off work as I had to organise her funeral. I'll grieve at some point, but amplify that and add televising her death as a spectacle. That must be hard😔 .... Besides, the media would have reported on his non composure had he dropped the pens. We can definitely allow King Charles this one.
I’m really not a fan of Charles, but will people chill? His own mother just died with the whole world watching his every move. I can’t imagine the stress.
Calling a man who showed 2 minor instances of short temperedness after he just lost his mother (without privacy and while taking over heavy duties on probably little sleep) "fussy" is just a dick move and they should be ashamed for treating another human being who is in pain in such a manner.
I would normally agree...however Charles has a long history of tantrums and being fussy. When I lost my father I wasn't acting like that lol. Not telling anyone how they should grieve just saying hes been preparing to be king his whole life and knew FULL well millions of cameras would be on him and still acted that way. Also if Meghan acted this way would ANYONE be giving her any room for excuses? no...press world wide would have a field day but he gets a pass. Make it make sense
I completely agree! When a person’s in mourning after loss of a parent or spouse, it’s natural to be all out of sorts. And, to have to go around being non-affable for the crowds and the media...I’m amazed they don’t all crack a lot more!
this is why in the army they told us to occasionally wiggle our toes during long parade drills. It won't show outside your boots but it gets blood circulating.
For us she was The Queen. For Charles, she was his mother. I have nothing but understanding and empathy for him getting frustrated at a pen. I cant imagine its easy losing a parent, no matter how old you might be. Also, we the everyday people can lock ourselves away and take as much time as we need to mourn and get over the loss of losing someone, for Charles, he's had to spring into action literally over night.
So many people defending Charles as if this is the first time he was being rude and horrible human being. LOL He was horrible for decades. He literally treated Princess Diana like trash. He preyed on her when she is 18, used her as a baby maker while fooling around w/ Camilla the entire time. Diana beg his help when she had depression and suicidal and he just ridiculed her and push her to the end even more. He is also the reason she had Bulimia because he constantly insult her weight and body figure. He was never regretful for how terrible he is to her and Diana is his wife & a princess so imagine how much more horrible he is to servants. So no this isn't just because he lose his mother, he have been horrible human from the start.
Agree. Charles may not be the perfect human being... nobody is. But having just loss his mother, being under his new station in life, and having the world put a microscope to him and his family - I'm pretty sure I could understand his minor frustrations.
I think King Charles acted with dignity and respect considering he had to be in the media less than 24 hours after his mother" The Queen" died. Give the man a break he has the right to show emotion at this painful time
The same is true for Princess Diana. That entire fiasco was not his choosing. It takes two to have conflict. She wasn’t exactly the saint she’s hyped up to be.
That's what I'm saying. I keep seeing people covering and trying to make a story out of every move this man makes. Like yeah, I get it. He's King now, but man, he's still a human like the rest of us who goes through daily struggles and the such. Shoot, even I too would be upset if my pen wasn't working the way I needed it to as such, lol.
Let's not forget when they were at a big function Diana told him she wasn't feeling well and he abruptly told her "Just go somewhere else and not feel well". Yep, he's a real gem.
I agree. I completely agree. He was closer to his mother than his father. His mom was young when she got the throne, lots of energy to be able to do this whole process for her father and the accession. King Charles is 73, that's literally almost his entire life he spent with his mother. I know I would be snippy and breaking down for little things here and there too. I'd cry if I couldn't find the keys that were already in my hands.
As a former marine, navy seal, army ranger, fighter pilot, commando, Rambo, 1st battalion, Purple Heart Medal of Honor terminator. I can confirm how hard it is to stand at attention.
They should really have changed guards after a certain time if they didn't already do that. It's just so stupid to have these guards stand there for hours upon hours, pretty counterproductive.
Massive respect to the guard, he did his job out of respect to the queen so well he kept doing it until he collapsed. Allot of people would just walk off and say I don't feel well but he obviously felt a lot of pride and honour in what he was doing for his late queen that he was willing to try and stand there until he could physically stand no longer.
Firstly I really hope that the guard is not hurt. Secondly to call Charles fussy and say he threw a tantrum is childish and fussy in itself and I am not a fan of him. He's just lost his mother and he's had to act like nothings wrong in front of billions of people in person and on tv etc. Give the poor man a break and don't be so judgemental. I'd like to see how those media people would manage what he's had to manage.
Calling someone a fussy baby in a magazine after the very person just had lost their mother, is so uncalled for and shows what kind of person that person is
I can only imagine how tough that could of been for the Queens Guard. The stress of the situation, the overwhelming sadness for Her Majesty's Death, and the hours upon hours of diligent standing watch. I hope the Guard is doing well. God Save The King.
I hope that guard is doing alright. Also irritability after the loss of someone you love is completely normal. I lost my uncle last year and even I sometimes find myself slightly set off at something small so I can’t even imagine poor Charles who not only will be burying his mother, but also has to step up at 73 and steer an entire country (and his commonwealths) through grieving.
This part. I can barely remember my mother’s funeral. I was so busy I didn’t cry until the services. He’s going to be irritated afterwards when the crowds go away. The new normal hits hard afterwards. They were blessed. The Queen lived 96 years. Forty years more than my mother.🙏🏾🕊 prayers to them all. Pray the Royal Guardsman is recovering well.
King Charles is obviously grieving these passed few days and under much pressure. Late nights, early mornings, meetings, protocols, signing paperwork and much more. Sympathy to the King and Royal Guards.
He does not have the strength of character and virtues that the Queen had. He is far removed from thoes skill set. The publication was right. I pity 🇬🇧 Britain. I think the common wealth is going to disintegrate. Few world leader have respect for that man. He is frightfully self absorbed and over indulgent. My 2 Cents!
Right and everyone is complaining that he isn’t in the greatest mood. Charles is normally a smiley guy, now he isn’t. He’s grieving the death of his mom but can’t even have time to grieve. He has to shake peoples hands and do all these things. Yes it’s his responsibility but it’s terrible he can’t have any time to grieve, and then gets attacked by journalists because he lets a little bit of emotion out.
As an ex-Navy member for 16 years including being a member of the ADF tri-service guard for 6 months, I can confirm how difficult it is to just stand there at attention. If you don't constantly wiggle your toes and stretch your fingers discreetly, you will almost certainly fall after a good amount of time. Once the black dots flicker before your eyes, it is a matter of minutes before you go down. And you can't just excuse yourself in these situations and march off. The danger is bayonetting yourself if you fall wrong. Good that immediate help was there though. It is almost a form of torture. To say nothing of the humiliation involved after a fall.

I was amazed & impressed that King Charles & Princess Anne were able to walk so far at a slow pace, in their 70s! I am only 65, multiple mobility issues & am having a good day if I can walk for 5 minutes!
I feel really sad that those things were said about Charles. I can’t imagine losing a parent whilst having to grief in the face of the public, as well as take on funeral ceremonies and new duties being the new King. He has shown his professionalism in so many ways already, and we have to remember he is 73! Of course he is going to snap at times. It all must be very overwhelming.
That's what I thought . Everything is happening so fast that he hasn't even had a chance to grasp what has happened . Not a minute to collect his thoughts or anything . I probably would had snapped too . You know how it is when someone passes away . You're in shock , and your mind is in overdrive . That has to be difficult at 73 .
Believe it or not, this is actually something that guards get huge respect for. The face plant means that they ‘fainted on their feet.’ It means they knew the faint was coming, but let it happen anyway, rather than failing to stand to attention, as ordered. It takes immense discipline to stand perfectly still, right up until the moment that you black out.
King Charles is under a lot of pressure and he lost is mother ! Terrible for them to say he’s being a big fussy baby. Easy to judge from a far isn’t it! Poor guard I pray all is well with his health!
I think that King Charles is taking a lot of criticism when he doesn't deserve it. If you have ever lost a mother, father, child then you know. It takes time to wrap your head around the fact of what has happened. He has to make such important decisions when his mind is still in mourner mush. Give him a break.
I waited in the lying in state queue today, 7 hours of walking slowly or standing around and my back is shattered, my legs hurt, I’m grumpy… I cannot imagine the dedication of these guards!! King Charles is also mourning under a microscope with the world watching… leave him be
He was probably thinking, ‘I can’t go shaking hands looking like this.’ And every single minute of his time is accounted for right now. He doesn’t have time for messes.

He's really old and walked for 40 minutes before staying still for another great period of time. Of course it's gonna be hard to stay still. I still don't like him tho.
The man is going through a lot of stress right now and he's most likely completely exhausted. His mother passed, he's suddenly in charge, every eye in the world is on him, he is having to make appearance after appearance, and walking 40 minutes straight isn't easy for anybody. Give him a break. My dad would have been grumpy too, and I wouldn't blame him a bit.
I feel sorry for that Royal Guard, and I hope he is doing okay mentally. Royal Guards take their duty very seriously with pride and honour, there is nothing worse than what happened and he is probably kicking himself for collapsing, even if there was nothing he could have done differently to prevent it. Say what you will about the King, but be mindful he has just lost his mother, and is under a tremendous amount of pressure. He hasn't had time to greave so of course there will be cracks in his mask. He may be the King, but he is only human, after all. God Bless the King.
Seriously Charles is the most active and healthy 73 year old I have ever seen, he walks for 40 minutes in a uncomfortable position when my great grandma who was the same age needed support to even stand
Same. I used to work at a gym amd we didn't have a single member his age. We had a few who were 70. But even our 70 year old gym members couldn't have walked as far as he has. Let alone in an uncomfortable position with no water or breaks.
The queenived a privileged life and never wanted for anything. She always had the best that money could buy every moment of her life It should cone as bo surprise that poor people don't remain as active for so long
Aside from the obvious heartbreak that would come from losing your mom, I can’t believe he made it to 73 before that happened. If he was just an average Joe and you passed him on the street you definitely would NOT think he still has either of his parents. Hoping the guard makes a full and speedy recovery 🙏🏼
Smart Lizzy had thought of all this for the honor of Charles and sliky Camilla. The king will soon pass the crown to young Prince William for he can't bare all the bloody things in his golden age.
I'm not surprised he felt like this he has not had 5 minutes yet to mourn his mom's passing, just a little bit of built-up frustration that's all it is. Best wishes to the guard hope he's feeling better soon. All my best wishes to the new King and his family as well xxx
Give Charles a break. I don't like him but as a human being who mourns his mother and senior now lacking sleep because of the situation, he should be given some allowances. If he continues to be rude after all this then it's fair to judge him. For the guy who fainted, bless you for your dedication
I like him because he was a pioneer about climate change and organic farming. Qualified in the RAF for fighter jets and helicopters, transferred to the Royal Navy and qualified as a ship commander. Got a history degree from Cambridge, and started many, many charities helping young people.
Give the man a break. The cost of being King is never seeing, hugging or hearing his mother ever again. Being in extreme saddness and pain makes your irritable, that frustration was not about the aid, despite what others see. That poor soldier must have been sweating bullets for the responsibility for guarding one of the greatest women in history.
@@emeraldemerald6459 Exactly. This isn't new behavior. It's been said for a long time from people who have had interactions with him that he's a spoiled prissy over grown child. Heartless article. Nit-picking at King Charles - when underneath it all, he's still a man who has just lost his mum. Would anyone else here expect to have to walk miles behind their mum's coffin, stand up all the time at her funeral, the constant scrutiny of cameras and the public watching for every hint of emotion? No. At 'any' close relative's funeral, you'd expect to be driven there and have a seat in which you can crumple and cry and show your every boiling emotion. If that had been me - I'd have thrown those stupid pens across the room, nor would I have cared if they'd hit someone on the way. If anyone's being fussy here, it's the media that chooses 'now' as the time to criticise a 73-year-old man in grief while also taking up the burden of being a figurehead for a nation and commonwealth. Then to end the article with pictures of Meghan posing for a very ill-timed magazine cover as if she's some kind of victim - again. She made her bed, she just doesn't want to lie in it. Her problem not ours. I wish she would shut up and just go away. Sick of her fairy stories, while the media conveniently forget just how spiteful she was to her own staff.
Megan Markle is a self-absorbed jerk. She wants everything to be about her. As an American I'm embarrassed that she has caused the royal family such grief. I wish Harry had married a nice British girl.
congratulations. you made an entire news video about something that happened and not only did you not include the video of that happening, you talked about something entirely else for 80 percent of the duration. inside edition as we know it I guess. good job.
okay to be fair with King Charles, I would be getting annoyed at the slightest inconvenience when going through something like this, all the grief and stress your going through and then imagine it being broadcast to the world
I hate how the media has lately painted King Charles emotions as fussy or ill minded or tempered. It's only been almost a week since the #1 thing he dreaded happening in his life has happened. Him succeeding the throne through his Mother's death. Give him a break.
Addressing the coverage of King Charles and his actions, I would hazard a guess that the writer has not gone through recent loss of a parent. He has lost both parents in a relatively short period of time, has a huge load on him in the public eye and said public eye has been anything but kind (albeit sometimes deserved) over the past few decades. For all his fussiness and faults, he is a son grieving his mother who has not yet been laid to rest and will have the eyes of the world following him the rest of his life. He may be 73 but grief and loss spare no ages. Ti e to show compassion and comfort.
"A big fussy baby. " God forbid that a man who just lost his mother, who is under tremendous pressure, and who is under intense scrutiny should have a moment or two of being human.

I served my nation for 2 years, this is one of the most toughest things to do, so 6-7hours of sleep and regular hydration is extremely important before performing for a ceremony like this. But sometimes the body just can't cope, especially if you're standing as long as this man did. Hope he is well.
Looked like he was an older chap. Falls like this can be extremely dangerous when you get older. They should have rushed in when they noticed him unsteady earlier. Too hell with the pageantry, duties, and rules. Help the human.
@@VesperAegis I remember in my school days during Independence parade students also fall like this because they had stood too long in parade ceremony. That's why it is not because of old age. But this duty is tough.

He’s been chillling for 76 years and now is under pressure! Too old and grumpy to start to be king now😂
I think his rude grumpiness over a pen incident was uncalled for and inappropriate, especially with his title.

When I watched the procession and ceremonies for the queen's death I couldn't but wonder how difficult physically it must be to endure that and I was worried about the older people that took part in these ceremonies who had to stand for hours without moving or in the procession walk such long distances. It's a miracle that not more people collapsed.

Calling someone who is grieving the death of their beloved mother “fussy” is ludicrous. Let him mourn for goodness sake.

You’re right, but he was never liked by the populace since Princess Diana, there’s a lot of legitimate things to criticize him for.
I think those who criticize Charles show ignorance about the grieving process. Perhaps they have never lost a parent.
The same is true for Princess Diana. That entire fiasco was not his choosing. It takes two to have conflict. She wasn’t exactly the saint she’s hyped up to be.
Give the guy a break. He just lost his mom. Seriously. Just because he's the King doesn't mean he isn't grieving. Let him be human.
Time will tell
Right.
Oh pls. He's rude and bombastic. What a way to apparently mourn your queen mother.
@@emeraldemerald6459 Exactly. This isn't new behavior. It's been said for a long time from people who have had interactions with him that he's a spoiled prissy over grown child. That throws a tantrum when things don't go his way. The Queen was a classy respectful woman. To bad her sons turned out so very different.

Spot on. Great comment 👏
Surely publication timing of the previously filmed Meghan cover wasnt within her control.
He looks very tired darned near exhausted, the grief of losing his mum has to be overwelming
@Annabel Caye
Megan Markle is a self-absorbed jerk. She wants everything to be about her. As an American I'm embarrassed that she has caused the royal family such grief. I wish Harry had married a nice British girl.
I hope and pray this Guard is doing ok. God Bless him
congratulations. you made an entire news video about something that happened and not only did you not include the video of that happening, you talked about something entirely else for 80 percent of the duration. inside edition as we know it I guess. good job.
okay to be fair with King Charles, I would be getting annoyed at the slightest inconvenience when going through something like this, all the grief and stress your going through and then imagine it being broadcast to the world
I hate how the media has lately painted King Charles emotions as fussy or ill minded or tempered. It's only been almost a week since the #1 thing he dreaded happening in his life has happened. Him succeeding the throne through his Mother's death. Give him a break.
I could not imagine what the media would say about 99% of humans on this planet if we were in his shoes. We all have our "fussy" moments.
He is a dumbo
i was just about to say this
Let’s not act like this isn’t how Charles has acted for decades now. Come on…
Well when ur in a lot of pressure of being a king after the death of ur mother bout a week ago than u intend to to be fussy and stressed out
Addressing the coverage of King Charles and his actions, I would hazard a guess that the writer has not gone through recent loss of a parent.
He probably hasn't had a decent night's sleep since the Queen's death.
You’re right sorry
I didn't even get to see the dude collapse, which is the only reason I clicked on the video
"A big fussy baby. "
God forbid that a man who just lost his mother, who is under tremendous pressure, and who is under intense scrutiny should have a moment or two of being human.
I wouldn’t listen to any magazine who describes Meghan Markel as “flattering” She’s one of the biggest babies I’ve ever seen
Yeah. As if losing your mother is hard enough then comes to mind that you have an ENTIRE nation to tend to... Probably stress fuel

I served my nation for 2 years, this is one of the most toughest things to do, so 6-7hours of sleep and regular hydration is extremely important before performing for a ceremony like this. But sometimes the body just can't cope, especially if you're standing as long as this man did. Hope he is well.
why don't they change shifts?
Each person should only stand for 1 hour then change people
just wondering
Congratulations on your service. Where did you serve?
They change every 15mins .

That's why it is not because of old age. But this duty is tough.
I'm surprised we haven't seen it sooner than we have and Ive felt for every one of them so far.
As an ex-Navy member who participated in many ceremonies, I can tell you it is very difficult to maintain such a position for an extended amount of time. I used to see people fainting when standing for prolonged periods all the time. It also happened to me once and the feelings of embarrassment and humiliation is terrible.

Also how cruel can you be to criticise the son of the woman who raised him, ruled for 70 years and has just passed away. Of course Charles is going to be emotionally and physically stressed. Just let him and his family grieve, how dare that newspaper insult him he doesn’t deserve that
