3:40 The reason we took them up is because the grenadiers defeated the French at Waterloo and wore their hats as a way to remember it! Also the chinstraps don’t serve much of a purpose anymore, they were to protect soldiers faces from cavalry sabres.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
ABSOLUTELY! I can't even begin to imagine what they go through, especially when it's hot or raining. I imagine those 9lb hats get pretty heavy in the rain. Not being able to talk would drive me bananas! I love how they will take photos with civilians.
I can't imagine how stressful it has to be to be a royal guard. I mean, you can't break character, you have to have your whole hours planned to the minute, and also be in character at all times! Kinda reminds me of the actors at Disneyworld / Disneyland. But these Royal Guards have such an important job so it has to be more stressful for them, I would imagine.
I used to do this so some facts for you: 1. You only do 24 hours in the summer and 48 hours in the winter at location. 2. You only do 2 hours on a box and that’s you finished for the day, the rest you’re in the guardroom. 3. Fainting protocol is right. Faint forward and remain stiff is the correct way as standing to attention is slightly forward leaning. 4. Guards do talk…they just don’t make it obvious. 5. Only 1 guard is on a post when HM is out, 2 guards when HM is in residence.
Most of the information in this video is incorrect. For example, the Grenadier Guards have a WHITE plume on left side of the bearskin, and, there are only FIVE regiments that wear the bearskin - The Grenadiers, The Coldstream, The Irish, The Scots and The Welsh. Please double check the information you already have.
2:42 No toilet break on duty, first thing that comes to mind is what happens if a royal guard gets really bad guts and has explosive diarrhea while on duty?
If they are never allowed to move or talk much then obviously people could just get right by them. You’d think guards would be allowed to move freely. Especially hauling tail if anyone runs away from them.
I served in the Scots guards in the 80, s. Some of this is BS. There are only 5 regiments that wear the bearskin the 2 regiments of horse guards don't. Fainting protocol if you go down go straight down otherwise you will get charged with bluffing it. 😊
Depends on what duty and where your stationed. on ceremonial duties, (at Buckingham palace) you are placed in the barracks beside the palace. If not you go into Wellington barracks. But there’s much more barracks
They fought ( Welsh Guards)in the Falklands, and we all know how that ended for Argentina . Go to Wales and say your comment, and see what happens , Boyo .

They do, the chinstraps are incase the hat falls in a battle or something, if it were under their neck their neck would break

At Buckingham Palace, out on the lawn green is the waterloo vase.
Wellington's Victory at the Battle in 1815.
I always feel bad for them.. it’s inhumane. No bathroom breaks, no water break, no chair to take a min rest. 😏
Imagine if they accidentally uses the bathroom on themself.🤣
Even after they train for many hours a day, it still hurts
Maybe that’s why they faint?
@@lucyarem they are supposed to do that

Salute to all of you…. My utmost respect as well.
Its the Kings guard.
WE KNOW!!!!!
After the battle of Waterloo, the British brought back bearskin hats and lancers to their military.
@5:25 "Since a full day of work can last over 24 hours"
Hmmm....
3:57 Incorrect, the natural hats are repellent. When they tried to switch to synthetic fur however, it did get heavier

Do you have to be serving in the army to join and serve for a amount of time or can you just join the army and request to join the royal guard,
@@mm2knight Join, do basic training then join the coldstreams, or grenadiers, etc.
I don't think Bright Side has been updated

Did he encounter anything weird or almost broke character? Any stories of his time being a royal guard? Super interesting!!!

Fun fact an Executive office and higher have a little bit smaller of a hat
When the guards fall on the ground face first they can loss their teeth and often will get a broken nose.
Rest in peace your royal majesty

Incorrect. Their hats weigh approximately 0.7 kilograms / 1.5 lb.... NOT the NINE (9) pounds stated in the video.

They are allowed to move and speak but ONLY when someone is getting top close to them or the palace
