- Today on GAB, we cook the original Aussie Smashed Works Burger!! That's right, the "smash" burger has been around since Noah as a boy. I remember going to the corner fish n chip shop and getting $2 worth of chips and the good old WORKS BURGER! They would always had a small ball of fatty mince and would smash the shit out of it on the stainless steel cook top. Fast forward 30 odd years and its become the new BBQ craze!? So today, I'm sharing my version of this new fandangled smash burger craze in our traditional Aussie style!.
As always, Language Warnings are in play here so keep kiddies away when watching.
Kamado Joe Series 3 is only available in Barbeques Galore in Australia.
Cheers!
love the vids man. "spent all the money on scotch" lol
priorities
Thanks mate! Milk pot did just fine and I got to drink more scotch! 🤣🤣
@@alanwasono absolutely 🤣
"Don't start" laughed so hard
🤣🤣🤣 cheers mate
Crack up
I miss those dagwood burgers. I'm glad you still like to make them. Great vid.
Hahaha Dagwood burgers 🤣🤣 awesome!! Cheers mate!
Could have bought a burger smasher but I spent it all on scotch. Right decision was made
Hahaha I agree!!! Cheers!
Had a cast iron plate , to use on top of the govt issued natural gas cook top.
Made a heck of a mess. But like like yours there was great (not grate) to use
Excellent as always. 👌
Thanks Trent!
So good - Aussie Burger with the lot.....miss these so much!! Great video and something i will do on the Kamado.
Thanks mate! Yeah I love a works burger!! Cheers
Brioche to the face - classic. Looks awesome!!!
Hahaha thanks! Obviously why I was never picked for sports 🤣
Awesome. Youre teaching is the real dope. Where’d I get ur cast iron plate Glen? Thx!
Thanks a lot mate! I think this one was from “the wheelbarrow” only $50-$60 from memory too.
Geez that's looks good.
Thanks mate, it was!
The taste of summer!
Absolutely mate!!
Fucken brilliant!
Thanks mate!!!
Man that looks great! Not sure if you have heard of them but Whataburger coats theirs in yellow mustard before cooking.
Cheers mate! I haven’t heard of them but that process does sound familiar! I think it would add a lot of flavour!
this looks like a bloody good burger to make this weekend, sadly them old fish and chip shops are mostly almost gone...
Mate, how true is that!! The fish n chip shops of old are well and truely gone!
BEETROOT? BEETROOT? Lol...a great job as always Glen thanks for the inspiration and the laughs! IMO Smashburgers are the BEST! Now, if you could get some great CANADIAN ALBERTA beef...then you'd have yourself a burger.....grin.
Hahaha, thanks mate!! I’ve been wanting to get to Canada as I have a few mates over there. Alberta beef will be on my list for sure! Cheers mate
@@glensaussiebbq4823 You know I'm pulling your leg. Oz has great beef of their own!! But you do come out this way I'll certainly pour you a whisky. Thanks again for the inspiration and entertainment.
@@chickenwings9117 hahaha no offence taken at all mate!! If I ever get over there we will get pissed and eat burgers 🤣🤣 cheers
Inspiration. I’m making that Saturday night.
Thank you andrew!
Awesome as always!! 🤙🏻
Thank you Jay! Hope all is well mate!
Loving the vids! Keep em coming
Thanks Jacob!!
Now that's a feed brother👊👌
Thanks mate!! It’s ridiculous how a little salad takes this to the next level! Or maybe it’s the bacon….nah it was the bacon 🤣
Amazing video. Are you still using the joe jr much at all or exclusively with the larger kamado’s
Hi mate, thanks! That’s a great question actually. I am using the larger KJ’s more lately actually. If I’m just doing a couple of steaks or a few wings and poppers, I will fire up the Jr. I really need to use it more now that I come to think of it. It uses hardly any fuel at all hey. It’s amazing.
Glen my guy I followed this today and it was like sexytime in my mouth. so good. Small cast iron skillet did the burger smashing for me as similar financial decisions were made.
Hahahaha cheers mate! Yeah they can keep their fancy burger smashers lol.
@@glensaussiebbq4823 keep the vids coming my brother !
Fk yeah
Cheers!!!
Ah man its great to see another fantastic video coming from the man himself. Great looking burger makes me hungry! " pineapple don't start" I'm with you pineapple on a burger and pizza. Beetroot runny egg now that's a burger.
Thanks a lot mate! Really appreciate the positivity!!
Great video mate! Also where did you get that shirt! I need it!
Thanks mate! I will have to get back to you about the shirt. I got it for Fathers Day so don’t know. I will ask the question tonight.
fuck ya Glen! now i'm hungry! hahaha ........... your bloopers always crack me up especially when you realise you fucked up an say "fuck me" hahahaha keep up the great work bud
Hahahaha, thanks mate! I’m glad you enjoy the bloopers!! Cheers
@@glensaussiebbq4823 always enjoy your cook up videos bud
So…. What scotch did you buy?! That’s the important question.
Cheap scotch 🤣
@@glensaussiebbq4823 😂😂😂 you dirty man. Next video: Geoff the Chef said I gotta stop drinking cheap scotch so here… I’ve got a bottle of Laphroaig. :)
Spent all the money on scotch good choice. What brand of scotch?
It was cheap scotch so it would have been a shit smasher anyway 🤣
Gotta have beetroot and pineapple
Smashes it home
Doesn’t it mate!! Cheers
It might be unAustralian of me but it's a no to beetroot & dead horse for me. I like a hot horse instead. Yes to the rest though.
To be honest if I was to make a burger at home it wouldn’t have all this on it. BUT, if I get a burger from a hamburger shop I always get a burger with the works! So that’s basically the point of this video. This for me, is a classic Aussie burger. As for the “smash burger” side of it, although it’s hit the bbq scene a few years back as this massive new technique, the old Greek fish n chip shops have been doing since I was a kid and most likely before that and they were the best corner food shop options in Australia.
