as a buyer I've been sold things from "location Melbourne" and it's been drop shipped from china with tracking to prove it, taking weeks to arrive (bought local due to needing it sooner) when if it was in Melbourne would likely arrive next day due to 20km away). also i bought a game disc that was an exact example of what you had in this episode, the disc the seller photographed looked good in photo (chose this seller due to the photo) but it was scratched on arrival, and had been packed with care, so didn't get scratched in transit, i didn't put a claim in as the xbox wasn't working yet, but the seller just ignored my message which i thought was a bit poor. As a seller also, I'd like to see more videos showing how to protect yourself from scammy buyers, and scenarios to avoid(is it risky sending overseas for eg?)

Matt the exact same thing happened to me a day or two ago...
Also a PS2 game... Probably the same guy... Connor***
      -
Customer contacts me 3 weeks after delivery
      Claiming ps2 game not working.
$13 purchase and i sent with tracking, because of my spidey senses
After some back and forth, He requested a refund via PayID which is a big No No...
I request a picture of the disc and he has sent me a picture of a completely different disc.
So i have sent some screenshots of the 4k video of me packing it up, Showing that the disc is 100% mint condition, I included some close ups, So he can see the difference himself...
Proving that the disc he shown was NOT the disc i sent him.
      He has gone quiet...
      Scammers Scammers everywhere...

@@deankdx me too - one I needed and had to buy elsewhere so got a refund. The other was recent, I didn't care that it came from China just that he lied when I asked him (and I told him that I didn't care, wasn't in a rush, etc). It just bugs me that Ebay makes these sellers Top Sellers when they don't have great feedback and they are lying about their location.

The big one is shipping to a reshipper, your package just disappears off tracking and who knows if it gets delivered. I googled an address and found out it was a halfway house in the states and the guy said it was stolen. eBay sided with me both times.

Sorry Matt and Courtney, Stüssy is pronounced with an 'oo' sound. The two dots above the u is called an 'umlaut' which is used to indicate the different pronunciation of the vowel. It's usually associated with German but is used in other languages too.

for an upcoming video, could you do a recap on the "we started an ebay store" series, with what you'd do different, more of, less of. focussing on finding smaller items cheaper to post/or store at home for eg, storing items so they are easy to find to ship out, how often to review your stock (like the funko pop dropping in interest etc) so like a PART 2 of the series, We reviewed our ebay store and this is what we improved. (adding vouchers, sales for black friday, mulitple purchase discounts if that's possible ?)
things like taking a photo of the disc (hard to do, any tips to do this better would be great also) so you can't be scammed easily.

Yes. I've been scammed too, but I learned from it. I was selling rechargeable heated gloves. I didnt realize I should have taken photos of the batteries as they had serial numbers on them. Buyer claimed batteries were bad (they were new). They sent me back the gloves with faulty batteries, but i couldnt prove it. He was upset because i made him send them back instead of giving him a discount to keep them. Also, ebay hs temporarily suspended shipping to Israel. Maybe thats why you got that order sent back to you.

As your channel grows further, this will obviously be a lot more difficult and time-consuming to deal with, but just wanted to tip my hat and say 'well done', not just for the great content, but to being so responsive to all comments.

I had the exact same type of scam attempt about a year or so ago, I sold brand new and sealed complete True Blood DVDs all seasons. Buyer lodges a dispute a few days later with the exact same sort of attempt - "discs have sticky stuff on them, they don't work, I want my money back". I looked very closely at the photos and saw the cases in the background that these DVDs supposedly came from had small cuts in the plastic which weren't in the photos of my listing especially since they were still sealed. Went back and forth with the buyer a bit and got Ebay involved eventually. They sided with me after the buyer sent back 5 opened dvds and the remaining still sealed, but refunded the buyer out of their account anyway, so they unfortunately didn't learn any lessons there.

Had a fellow re seller try and scam me, first purchase he raised a return request as “item not as described” had a couple of marks so I gave the benefit of the doubt and refunded. Couple months later he orders another tv series off me, at this point I made sure the disc was as described which it was, he got it and same thing, I knew he was bluffing so I accept the return before refund request, he never sent the item back (he needed it to complete a set) he even raised it with eBay saying he got no refund, eBay gave him another 2 weeks and he still didn’t send it so they released the funds back to me after holding for a month. I blocked the guy now. He is some full time re seller from SA, think name is Dong. Just goes to show even in the re seller marker there are scammers.

@Th3L0wK1 Actually, Allocation Matt, did ask if anyone had had similar experiences, but you do you. If that includes tolerating primary school literacy, the arrogance to say " I don't care how something is written or properly pronounced, I'm going to keep intentionally mispronounced it" (so typical of Allocation Matt), or hos brain dead missus with her continual "Yaaahhh" in reply to every scripted question, then by all means this b-grade RUclipsr is perfect for you. I think this scam happened to me just the other day. I am an ebay dabbler, and I was selling a pretty cheap Wii game that was in like new condition. Same thing - the guy contacted me as soon as it was delivered saying it was scratched and demanding a refund. I didn't believe him but tried to be courteous and offered him a refund that wasn't the full price, and he asked to send a return label, which I did. Afterward I checked his profile, and he is selling "mint condition" wii games for pretty outrageous prices (more than they are selling for sealed), and the game I sold him is one of the titles listed. I am concerned that when I get the return, it will be a scratched up copy that he swapped out for my nice copy. Any advice on what to do in this scenario? I looked into it a little, and sellers seem to say that ebay isn't great at siding with sellers in cases like this so I wonder if there is anything to be done other than take the loss and try to learn from the experience?

Very good video Matt! I’m so glad you called that guy out on the DVD scam! You were very much ahead of him having pictures on the item you sent him! Lol lol…. Hey I sent you a Thanks! Gift a week ago. Did you get it? I didn’t see it go out of my acct? … I really want to buy the madhappy sweatshirt if it’s still available!! What’s the best email for me to use…? so I can give you my info for purchase. I generally get a billing email statement ,& enter my info to prepay… sorry Matt I’m just not familiar with things like instagram,etc…..I see a gmail on your website?

your game relying on ebay to side with you ! they always go with the buyer, evidence or not 😅

I think showing the buyer I was willing to put it into eBay's hands showed just how confident I was about my opinion. It also showed that he would have to wait a little longer to get the refund he felt he deserved. Both of these factors lead to him running away from the refund request. It's now been 5 days since I last heard from him. Moral of the story: stand your ground.
