My older brother, who has since passed away sadly, and I used to play this game for hours and hours, what a great game! The voice acting in this opening did no age so well though, jesus chirst those mouths animate so hard they could have flapped away into a distant sunset.

I remember seeing the graphics for this game and thinking they were gorgeous. How right I was XD.
Nothing will match the magic of only having the D pets and imagining how the battles played out... then the intro of this shows kids playing with the D pets... then the battle field is constructed in the digital world, then the music kicks up with a "western" style shot of Metal mamemon with the dust flowing around him before he dashes towards his foe... It helped that the whole game was literally raising your D pet and being able to take it on adventures.

If you mean the D pets, they are indeed a bit hard to find, but a few places sell them still as long as you state what version you're looking for (pendulum, original, ver 1.0, etc).
My main problem is replacing the batteries. Friggin cost a fortune.

I have a strange nostalgia for the overly stiff animation you saw in the FMVs of PSOne games.
I remember re-watching this over and over just to watch the animation where he says "oh, you're here" so I could laugh. Simpler times
the first time i got a digimon evolve into the ultimate form was so awesome ... i think it was andromon : D it took me some time to understand the game, the offline world was tough .
I got megadramon once for my first and my sister and I immediately wrote down every stat we could think of to get it again! If only we knew...
At least you guys understood some of the mechanics, I was training the same stats over and over (used to focus on attack mostly) and then I would be disappointed to get the same digimon or worse, numemon…
Mamemon was the coolest Ultimate to obtain. Fun to travel with tool.
@@blindfollower Numemon had some itneresting moves though. What's really cool is filling in the Digimon moveool and not letting your Digimon get killed in battle so you don't lose any moves.

I played it when I was around 9/10 and now I'm 30... Such nostalgia
I was around 6 or 7 ish I think when I played this. Rented it from blockbuster all the time. It was one of my favorites. I didn't understand anything about how the game worked and always failed hard-core because I let my digimon poop all over the place cause I thought it was funny and I didn't realize it was actually detrimental. I couldn't understand why my digimon always died. But now I researched what you're actually supposed to do and my god...what a complicated system. This game was so busted XD but I still adore it. I'm 30 now and I look back on this game with such fondness.
I live in Germany and I played this game for days as kid. Never got far, of course. They translated the game itself, but kept the opening in English with no subtitles. I haven't played this game for at least 20ish years and the "WoAH, MetalGREYMON versus MetalMAMEMON" line is still etched into my brain. Good old PS1 CGI Nightmare fuel.
I still have my original black label copy. It was the first game I ever got for my Playstation and while I would get pretty much all the Digimon games on ps1 I eventually sold all of them except this one, it just felt special.
The soundtrack still brings me back to better times...

I remember playing this Digimon game on Sony PS2 as a PS1 game when I was thirteen. It was alright for myself but I never beat it unfortunately. I was stuck in one of the locations but I couldn't remember where I was stuck. It's very hard to remember anything ye know.
I thought it was the first Bandai (now known as Bandai Namco Entertainment) - published game I ever played and it was the first Digimon game I ever played as well.
In PAL regions such as Europe (including my home country Ireland 🇮🇪), Australia and New Zealand, it was distributed by Infogrames which is now known as Atari SA.

I just got a new copy of this game at the mall earlier, since our first copy has been badly scratched for almost my entire life. My older brother used to play this when he was a kid and I was a toddler, and my dad told me it was pretty cool. Now, after so many years of not being able to leave File City, it's time to save the Digi-World!

Izzy had a fever dream in which he was every child in an alternate universe where Digimon were vpets.
This game is based off the V-Tamer manga series, Tai was pulled into the Digi World through his V-pet like the hero of the game and raised his partner through the series to defeat the main villian.

when my digimon evolved, it ALWAYS turned to that poo throwing thing, soo annoying + hated it. the only time it evolved was into a dinosour like digimon, i was so sad when it died! :)

They didn't care about voices to much because they are pretty much non-existent outside of this and the ending (I think).

He brings up how Metal Mamemon, a "puny ball with arms and legs", should not be able to fight Metal Greymon. Kirby, a character who is *also* a ball with arms and legs, has shown some pretty overpowered feats of his own. I was basically implying the same thing as you; it's a work of fiction where you can't judge characters on their appearances.
And the other guy's statement about Wash Rotom is just an unfunny joke about how good it is in competitive play, I'd imagine.

it means i play alot of games... and out of all the games i've played, this is the best.
But offcourse, if you just play this game for some hours it won't work. It's a game that need patience and time.
i understand that it is not a game for everyone, but definitely worth a try if you're into adventure quest games.

Most ppl will disagree with me on this, but i think this is the best game EVER to be made on this earth.
And i'm a hardcore gamer.
