Finally after 18 years I've finally seen the full cutscene, my copy would crash without fail after Seal Head gets destroyed. At least the rest of the game was perfectly playable.
Used to boot up the game just to watch this intro when I didn't have enough time to play the game. This game was the best. Nintendo gave us all the finger when they let this trademark expire. A current-gen Custom Robo would be awesome, with how popular mech/gunpla culture is now, on top of fighting games being more popular than ever. At least I still have the Cube...
To me, this intro does NOT look like a 2004 game, something more like 2011 on the Wii or something. Holy crud. I never even noticed the high quality until just now. Just look at every other game's cheesy CGI intros back in 2004.
Shoot, that opening sequence to me looks like it's something from this generation with their Switch (2017-????) console. Many of the Nintendo games with the Gamecube were ahead of their time.
Hello my fellow custom robo fans. The ending of this game having a little fps action if memory serves me correct sparks a curiosity in me of potentially taking an emulation and modding it to play out the entire game in that way. I feel like that would have untold potential
They very well could make an ACTUAL GAME like this nowadays , using the cube cannon to launch yourself into a battle royale city , customizing your own robot before entering, and being able to switch attachments if you kill enemy bots
This game was the best game I plaged during the GC era! GC was the best console with the best games and this was definitely one of them! Bring this back! Stick to the formula and improve on it! Online Battles! Leaderboards! All of it! Bring it back!!! I need it back!!!
Ahh... when op's used to be Something FIERCE! wouldn't mind watching an anime switching between this art style and regular animation.... but i guess it would be just like code lyoko then?
I so desperately wish they released action figures of the Robos, I remember wanting nothing more than a Ray 01 action figure. Hell even now as im 19 about to turn 20 I wish they made figures for this game so so bad
I really miss this series (why did Arena have to be the last game?). Apparently Ray 01 almost made it in Smash Ultimate. Hopefully I'm proven wrong and they actually do add him to the base (or DLC) roster.
@@protoluigi2047 This post was made before the Grinch Banner Leak was proven to be false. A 4Chan post that matched what that leak guessed metioned that Ray 01 was considered at one point but was dropped. As the banner leak ended up being false, that post that mentioned Ray 01 almost making the cut was also false. That being said, Ray MK II was considered back when Melee was being made. However, MK II didn't make the cut as Sakurai didn't like the idea of making a character that predominately fights with projectiles (though Mega Man exists ever since Smash 4). aaah Custom robo that one game where you and your homie fight a squabbling couple in a tag team robo battle all because of one accusing the other of having an affair. A situation caused by your home boy dropping a girl's phone number on the ground in front of the neighbor's front yard mind you.

Reflection Pods ( I think thats what it's called) Freeze Bomb The gun like that isn't in the game, but the second gun he has is the shotgun Balance Feet too.
first gun is the Rayfall gun, I think. And none of the weapons in the FMV act anything like the ones in the actual game aside from generic traits common to pretty much all weapons of their class.
Sorry for necroing this post, but based on models alone, the parts are the following (according to what I wrote on the Robopedia in the past): Ray 01 (with whiter kneecaps) Rayfall Gun (functions like Gatling Gun), then Trap Gun (functions like either Sniper Gun or Shot Gun) Freeze Bomb (functions like Wall Bomb) Reflection Pod (only 2 got deployed in the FMV though as Reflection actually deploys 3 in game) Formula Legs (though their color is a deeper blue and they function more like Standard Legs)
Basically a 3D arena fighter. As the name implies you customise your robo with different parts for combat while following a linear (and honestly bland) story outside of it. Unfortunately the intro makes the game seem waaay cooler than it actually is but had surprisingly fun combat and is worth checking out for some of the robo designs and throwing them into a scrap. Oh and the multiplayer is rather enjoyable too.
Almost 20 years later and this intro is still SICK AF
Agreed
How?

The most important video game intro on the internet.
This was literally the coolest thing i had ever seen in my life as a kid. Right next to Zoids and beyblades
The whole custom robo series was a legend

Seriously we do!
Yeah, the intro does show the game cooler than it is. But I love the game too

I guess the developers love to use that Doom door sound for this intro.
