This game felt so apocalyptic. Nearly everything you encounter is undead or possessed, the Sleeping Village really drives that home when even children attack you.
Everything Dan encounters is hopeless and cursed.... but overall he strives on the will. Poor Dan....

The game is fairly light harted but this intro is scary as hell. I mean, a bony dude electrocutes a family of people, as they sleep, with some green lightning and turns them into mindless killers.
Just the creepy noises they would make and something would constantly be lurking around every corner. The great glass demon scared the crap outta me
I was quite possibly the dumbest kid ever. I used to think Zarok was a woman and I used to confuse him with Maleficent...

I remember when i first started playing it when I was 7, i was so freaking entranced by it.
Instant blast to the past. Takes me back to those simple days of visiting my dad and playing all of his PS1 games back in the early 2000's.
It reminds me of playing this with buddies and girl who later became my GF - Gonna try get all of us together to play the remaster again (if even for a short time).

I remember, the ending of the scene where he smiled, scared the shit out of me. Idk but that part creeped me out.
For me it was the Zombie and that green essence getting into wife & husband.

I can't believe this game is almost 20 years old
Sadly I didn’t get the same joy of playing this in the nineties when it first came out, but my father played it a LOT when I was a little kid. I watched him play it and the freaking kid with the glowing eyes scared the SHIT out of me, but I was always so happy when Daniel appeared on screen. He was my first ever hero! I’m happy that now I get to play it on the PS4. This game gives me so much nostalgia!

I love this game so much and it's one of the best Playstation games ever created and MediEvil 2 :)

I remember when I was 12 years old only having the demo of the game and playing it over and over lol Then finally renting it from Blockbuster video, unfortunately getting stuck and not able to beat it in the 5 days of renting it. xD
Same! I would beat the demo over and over again. I finally bought the game, but I got stuck in the corn fields. I think you needed to find a tool for a tractor or something... I took the game over to my cousins and we finally figured out how to get past that part. We stayed up late every night playing it, taking turns until we finally beat it a few days later. Good times. I cant wait to play the remastered PS4 version coming out next year!

in spanish some characters say "Fortesque" and others "Forteskiú" just as you can read it, (forteske or forteskiu) pretty weird, and in the hero gallery the axe man or axe stone man (xD) says "My axe like to laughter just like me!" and the original one was "my axe like to slaughter just like me!" but someone eat the S and they though that the axe liked to laugh, even in the subtitles it says "Slaughter"
Hahaha that smile at the end because he knows he’s been given a second chance. Such a great childhood game.
There will never be a remaster with a better soundtrack than the 98 version of the game.

What I loved the most about this game was the atmosphere. It had that Danny Elfman-esque soundtrack combined with a gothic art style, plus not overdoing it with both humorous and darker moments.
It was intriguing, but it never got rediculous or soul crushingly sad. Sir Daniel Fortesque is just one of the greatest characters I've ever played q.q

I'm so sorry for Kids nowadays. Most of them will never have memories in gaming like me with this game. This was one of my first games and I really want to play it again. I remember that this intro was scary as fuck for me when I was a Child :D (maybe that was the reason why my mother don't want that I play this game)

02 kid here, grew up watching my Gen-Xer dad play this and the second game. Holds such a special place in my heart, I got to play a bit of this version and just bout finished the remaster entirely off memory from watching him growing up. I hope they remake the second one someday.

Well, it is. The darkness and creepiness is simply somehow not present in remake. Gonna buy PS1 cuz this game.
You can never outdue the original. In this case the original has been out for 21 years. So many people have very fond memories of this game, no matter how good a remaster is it will never hold the same value in ones mind as the original.

The remake doesn't have the same terror factor like this one. For example, the remake's zombie jump scare is not as traumatizing as the one at 3:57. Heck is not even creepy at all.
Another memorable scary thing removed was the build up of the first boss. The screen doesn't go black and you can no longer hear heartbeats.
I wish they could have gotten this voice actor for the narration but still the remaster is fun.

I watched this game being played by a guy in a mall while I was 6/7, I was so shocked that I couldn't even see a picture of the main character until I was 13 probably

You know for some reason I've always thought Sir Dan would fit perfectly in a Shrek Film imagine if Zarok and Lord Farquaad joined forces and Shrek and Sir Dan had to team up to stop them Lol
MediEvil Resurrection is all censored and kid friendly. There's also a unneeded bug companion living in Sir Dan's head.
And look what they've done to the gargoyles and the hall of heroes!

Yeah Sir Dan lies so he can be a general it actually was a coward in life. But now he has a chance to prove himself worthy of being a Hero

I don't think its ever explained why Fortesque was never enthralled by Zarok, and now that I think about it: the consequence of his death means he had an unsettled score with him LOL so he cheated the system in a weird and kind of honourable way.

It's good they put all of the PS1 game in the new remake. The remake is decent but the original is a PS1 masterpiece.
Remakes never can, there is a certain something that I cannot put into words that you get from playing a classic game.

Man, for 1998 this is bad. Tomb Raider 3 came out the same year and its pre-rendered CGI cutscenes were way better.
Well at least that bad graphics added to scary atmosphere.
