I like the idea of the Asics Metaspeed Edge+ because of the higher 8mm drop. Love the Metaspeed Sky. But lately I think the lower drop and faster paces has caused me to have Achilles and calf irritation. Actually picked up the Vaporfly to see if I get relief with it's 8mm drop at HM and faster paces
Asics still haven't learned they need to make these 2 shoes more visually distinctive from each other. There's always confusion in every review of these shoes.
After using both last season, you will probably know within a few minutes which feels better..if you want to run on your toes and you really pound the pace go with the sky..it's not really a casual run shoe..the edge felt more natural to run in but did not have the forefoot cushioning for running hard..I want the edge+ to have the feel of the OG but have the forefoot cushioning of the sky..if so it might be 1 of the best and fastest middle distance shoes of the year 🤔
Sounds like the edge is now close to the Vaporfly feel with that throwing you forward motion where the sky is more like a marathon cruiser like the alphafly?
But alphafly is a little more expensive than Vaporfly. The sky and edge plus have the same cost, which make it hard for me to decide which one to get the most bang for my buck.
Hayzus... I'm confused AF now 😂 Are you guys saying that if I preferred the original Sky to the original Edge...I will probably lean towards the Edge+ instead of the Sky+? Always love the content 👍
Having worn both did any of you feel the plates at any time?? e.g. walking, standing and of course when at speed. Or did you only feel the plates "working"....the plates themselves...never??
Could someone help me pls, I want to order asics gel 1130, but I can't choice right size, my nike probably 11us with 29cm insole, which size of asics do i prefer, 11us or 11.5us, thanks
My fave local running store is in San Diego and they have the Sky+ in for me to try while we’re in SD for a couple of weeks (I live in the Rockies far from any running stores). But the ASICS rep hasn’t been able to send the Edge+ which is the one I really think will suit me and which they special ordered for me weeks ago. What gives? BTW I’ll be meeting you guys in Denver or Boulder or both. Any details available yet on where and when? We’re aiming for the 29th and 30th in that area. Martha
Asics sponsored races in Spain with plethora of content creators, NA tour bus (featured in this video) and so many videos about the + versions of the MetaSpeed (their whole lineup really)... It's getting pretty hard to miss the Asics marketing "bus" these last few weeks. 🤔
I would go with the Edge+ because I'm used to run in 8mm drop shoes. And once that I tried a 5mm drop shoe( GlideRide 2) I did not like it because I wanted to do forefoot or middle foot strike but ended doing too much heel strike. And so the outsole rubber did not last for me. I'm a cadence runner anyways and I can run like that no problem with shoes from 8mm to 12mm drop but lower drop shoes is my "Achilles's ankle ".
Dude the heel strike problem is worsened in the 8mm drop. Less drop means less heel strike tendency. So you have it backwards. This is one reason why people love altra shoes which have ZERO drop (think like a high heel with the heel cut off)… this makes heel strikes less likely and much easier to get onto toes and forefoot… start adding drop and it’s the same concept as adding the heel back onto the high heel…. The more drop the more heel… making heel strikes worse not better
@@thepatternforms859 I disagree because there are too many factors in play, and it’s how they work in tandem. Drop in itself is way more subtle, especially when you’re only talking about a difference of 3 mm (as opposed to zero vs 10 mm eg). That few mm’s can be compensated for by a the softness of a midfoot foam and other elements of a shoe’s design, not even to mention a person’s weight, proportions, body mechanics/gait, etc. People just need to try all these shoes and see what works for them.
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 Agree. I am a heel striker and The Saucony Endorphin Speeds/Pros are the best shoes I ever worn for my runs. They have the 8mm drop and had no problems with it. It's just a matter of getting used to it and figuring out how to use them. I had the Newton shoes before which has the midfoot heel that promotes midfoot/forefoot striking but my foot striking didn't change at all up until now.
From what I have researched I’m waiting for the Edge as soon as I am notified I’ll be getting a pair to add to my many shoes!
You'll like it a lot. Should be popping up next week online.

I smell a Between Two Shoes coming!

I’ll be waiting for the +ProEliteFast edition 😅
Having these 2 shoes is so confusing as a consumer haha. Which one do you pick. Wish I had all the money so I could just try them all..

The Asics van is coming to Columbus this Friday! I know they said they'll have shoes to try...hoping that they'll have all the fun stuff ;)
The fun stuff will be there for sure. Enjoy!
I´d say the sky plus for tough workouts and my cxompetitions the vaporfly still goated

Absolutely I’ve been describing them like this myself
That's a pretty accurate assessment

Which would you pair with the Glideride v3?
Lookin at getting both for the Hammond Indiana 50 miler.....run to the Edge to reach the Sky

Unless you live in the south. No Asics van, no Tracksmith 5000, no nothing

Went half size up in the sky last year should I do the same for the sky+?
No they fixed it, fits true now
