The "chemistry" involved is most probably that Lubicle Black is based on the same formula as Lubicle One, therefore adding more on the skin helps dilute and remove it. Also, that would account for the separation in Lubicle Black, so we can safely assume that Lubicle Black is a mix of Lubicle One and a black powder of sorts, not exactly sure. I might be wrong, but usually adding more of the base liquid removes the actual pigment(happens in markers too)

lube isnt really gimmicky, i get what you mean though, theres so many lubes coming out and so much hype with them but each lube feels different and different jobs. these companies are just trying to have more diversity for different turning styles and cubers

That's actually kinda a bad idea. The cube's lifetime (how long it takes for it to "die") is decreased dramatically without lubing the cores or the pieces because of all the frictin from turning it. I'd recommend to start lubing your cores and pieces.
me too I can't get lube I am planning to try cooking oil if it damaged my cube .. I'll never be able to get a new one until next summer .. I am really afraid
