Thank you Joe for your teaching. I am 71 years old and started painting last year. I did not believe I could possibly draw more then a stick person. Your lessons have given me the desire to paint. Your techniques help me understand what I am to do and I am improving weekly. I have actually sold a few paintings. You are my hero because painting brings me so much pleasure and gives purpose and adventure to my life.

I think you just saved my career with the cutting your time by getting a scale into one brush stroke. Ive been taking too long painting 3D and could not figure out why. That exponential editing makes so much sense, thank you!!!!

I like the most, that a german guy like me with stupid 6th grade english is able to understand everything you say. Good people are able to explain difficult things with easy words! Big up!

You are a master painter in my eyes. People often pick a team, oil vs acrylic. No matter the medium it's the skill that shines through. You always inspire me to understand the details of what I'm painting.

Love where this is going Joe! It's looking great. I especially like how you've captured the bounced lighting on the leviathan and the running people. I think though that you've made the torso of the man closest to us, too long. And shouldn't there be reflections of the fire on the water and the wet sand?

Hey Joe! Your explanations are great as always. But I have a question about your previous video. Would you mind posting a slow (normal speed) version of actually painting fire, just, you know, to see how exactly you make it with actual paint ?

Do you have a donation account I can put some "thank you money" into? I feel like I should be paying to watch these.
I am a 5th generation artist that recently fell upon your videos and I am absolutely blown away at how easy and understandable your instructions are. I am learning things I didn't ever get from painting classes or even from my elder family members as they taught me. I can not express how important your videos are. please continue to make these videos.

I like that you can grab paint from other parts of the canvas. Is that paint quality or just application skill that allowed you to do that?

Muraljoe, I've been wondering about waves in watercolour ever since your waves tutorials. The issue with watercolour is that you can only cover light with dark. Your "smiles", on the other hand, are strictly light over dark, which is fine with opaque pigments but not with watercolour.
I've not tried it yet but think the "smiles" approach could be achieved in watercolour by starting with a near-white gradient representing the highlights, then forming "smiles" by negative painting - ie by adding dark pigment representing the "inter-smile" regions.
    It would be horrendously difficult.

When I do the lighter color on top of the darker color, the darker color just comes up over the light color, drives me crazy and I don't know how to prevent/work with it.

    • @ArtistDoug
      @ArtistDoug 3 месяца назад

Ok looks like there are more options for scales than starting with black and patterning the scales white before adding scale colors it’s a lot of work to do scales in 3 steps if I can make scales one step per scale it will save a ton of time and I think you’ve demonstrated it’s possible to cut out the white scale patterning.

Matthew 25:31-46 New International Version (NIV)
    The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
