Fallout 4 in 2024 is Better Than You Think

  • I just completed Fallout 4 for the first time on PC, and I’m excited to share my thoughts and impressions with you. My playthrough spanned 50 hours, including the main game and its DLCs: Far Harbor and Nuka-World. For years, Fallout 4 has faced criticism for its lackluster storytelling and direction, and I found myself agreeing with some of those sentiments during my journey. However, the game truly shines in its exploration and world design, which kept me captivated throughout. The Far Harbor DLC, in particular, is outstanding and stands as one of Bethesda’s best expansions. In my opinion, Fallout 4 is definitely worth playing in 2024, especially if you enjoy deep exploration and engaging side content. Plus, the DLCs add a fantastic layer of depth to the experience. Thanks for watching! #fallout #fallout4

FO4 with mods is a TOTALLY different experience than FO4 without mods.
FO4 + the DLC + mods is still a fantaastic game that you can play pretty much endlessly, especially if you're into settlement building.
I've been playing it since it came out and I never really stopped.

Far Harbor is the recipe for a perfect fallout game imo. It's got the great branching story of the older games but with the exploration of fallout3/4. I hope its the formula for fallout 5

If this company wants to continue making games they either need to make a brand new engine from scratch or use the unreal engine. They just have to their old 1997 engine is aging horribly.

Yeah even CD Projekt is dropping the Red engine in favor of UE moving forward. I love Bethesdas older games a ton, but it’s just silly that players need a mouse mod, high fps physics fix mod, load accelerator and more to get it functioning well on a baseline level

I feel ya in the negatives, also 100% feel you on the game loop.
I recently added Sim Settlements 2 mod, and man...this settlement overhaul and added built in quest(that teaches you along the way), has been a welcomed rabbit hole. I wanted just something to make settlement management more automated, and that option is there, but it does so much more.

You should play the Point Lookout mod in Fallout 4 if you don't plan to play 3. The Capital Wasteland team recreated the DLC in 4 and it's awesome--Plus they're doing the same with Pitt before the full mod release always something to look forward to in Elder Scrolls/Fallout modding.

Except the narrative, That's Emil Pagliarulo being a prick, as he admitted many times that he thinks gamers don't even care about stories in videogames.
He puts no effort into it because he genuinely believes it doesn't matter if it's good or bad.

I've put almost 2,500 hours into _Fallout 4._ I'm NOT joking, I've been playing it since launch, and I just keep coming back. I enjoy the main story for what it is, though the factions could've been better. Brotherhood of Steel is the best, but for a game that has you choosing between 4 different factions to side with... the Minutemen, Railroad, and Institute are just not as cool as the Enclave, NCR, and Caesar's Legion. And I hate that you're required to destroy the Institute in 3 of the 4 endings, I feel like with the Brotherhood of Steel at least you should be able to capture it and use the Institute's technology to help the Commonwealth. It would've been cool if the Enclave was a faction that you could side with, and give them control of the Institute.

Hey @BBKDRAGOON ! I subscribed just for your awesome F4 videos. I've never finished F3 or F4 game (i stoped just a few hours in) and always opted out for Stalker, Metro etc. I decided it's time to dive into F4 with mods. I'm planning to get through The Midnight Ride and add the visual mods you were suggesting in your previous videos. The thing is, that looks like the ELFX mod breaks many things when used with TMR and i was suggested to use the old UIL and UEL mods instead, or not using them at all. IMO the ELFX mod is too awesome to let it go, so i would like to ask about your opinion:
Do you think ELFX mod is worth it and that the list of mods you suggest are enough for a first time flawless playthrough? Or is it more important to stick to TMR because it might fix more issues and bring more QoL features which are more important than the ELFX mod itself?

    • @BBKDRAGOON
      @BBKDRAGOON  12 дней назад +1

Great question and thanks for the sub! I haven't ever done a full midnight ride playthrough start to finish so I couldn't really say. I do LOVE ELFX, more than almost any other mod, interiors are just next level with it. I really liked the mods I recommended for the playthrough, I would ditch Psycho LUT, and avoid any ENB style mods. For me the mod lists I've been doing have made the game just enough for a solid vanilla plus playthrough, where as midnight ride really gives opportunities for overhauls and changes if you wanted things to be a bit more fresh

Try playing Fallout 4 in Survival mode. That definitely adds much more value to the settlement system as you cannot carry a lot of junk on you. Also the need to drink, eat and sleep makes the settlements really safe havens. I am trying to set up a factory at Starlight Drive-in for ammo production. And its been a challenge getting resources in Survival mode, and thus its been real fun

As I started the series with the first Fallout game, I am a bit biased. But if you enjoy the freedom New Vegas - give Fallout 1 / Fallout 2 a try. I know, it's not the modern Bethesda formula, nor a 3D game, but instead you'll get a deep CRPG narrative with sooooo many options on how to "role play" in the post-nuclear wasteland (*cough* low INT build *cough*).
There are also a lot of mods (a lot are just QoL tweaks, some even increase the resolution) available for those games. There is even a mod that lets you play Fallout 1 in the slightly improved Fallout 2 engine. The channels "GamerPoets" and "Kelphelp" here on RUclips have great tutorials on modding those older Fallout games. :)
Other than that: The Outer Worlds - the "Not Fallout" game by Obsidian was also quite enjoyable, but still quite limited in scope. IIRC they also fixed the Spacer's Choice (GOTY edition) of the game in the meantime. 😂

Im in the minority but I did Not enjoy Far Harbour. Spoilers.
All of the factions are nasty despicable wanted them all dead. The fog dynamic was under developed. The monsters were too tough, never did beat the giant shrimp or the mirelurk queen. The map is Way too restrictive, much more like Skyrim where your forced to follow paths, theres only a few spots you can go cross country. The extra radiation is Way Over the Top and makes the game unpleasant to play. I also disagree with you on the Main story of FO4. A secret shadowy hi tech faction living under the ground that wants to secretely replace everyone with synths?? This is both a timeless, 'Invasion of the body snatchers' campy 1950's sci fi plot (fun!) and a terrifying modern day parable of the dangers of AI that Elon Musk is shrieking about. How can you not love that?
