- Fallout 76 in 2024 did the impossible and has broken its all time player count on Sunday. This new hype for the game has stemmed from the success of the Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime. In the video today I'll talk about my thoughts on Fallout 76, if it's worth it as a new or returning player. We'll talk about the best Fallout game to play right now, which I still believe is New Vegas or Fallout 3, however Fallout 4 will likely be a good option for a lot of players. Fallout 76 is an MMO-lite and there are some artificial barriers that Bethesda has put into the game that I believe they should revisit and remove especially since they have had such a large influx of new players coming back to the game. @@BBKDRAGOONI know I hated the game when I tried it a few times. I’ve been playing this week and I love it. I even subbed to fallout 1st when I never, and I mean ever sub to mmo’s. Even ESO I liked decently but still refused to play that sub fee. So that says a lot about 76. I actually like it more than Fallout 4. By a lot.
As someone who has put 3000 hours in this game. 1200 stash is more then enough

yeah, if you're running outta stash space now it's because you're not scrapping junk, crafting ammo, building out your base, etc. The game expects you to use your resources. One of the best things about 76 is it doesn't really hold your hand all that much. They kinda want you to naturally find it out

Regarding Fallout First, subscription is not a problem because there are a lot of ways to get a lot of weight for free, for example, the perks that take away weight from both healing and ammunition, the small backpack that when you go up you It gives a lot of space and the big and the excavator power armor. Fallout first is just paying something for convenience but in reality it is unnecessary because the box they give you is only good for scrap
For me, the stash box weight limit just means I don’t have a severe hoarding problem anymore, in my opinion raising it to about 2-2.5k would be good, as I do run vendor from my camp.
Personally I love 76. Never knew that replacing NPC's with my friends was what the series was always missing for me. Loved Fallout all my life but to be able to play something with the guys and gals from work we are having a blast.

Newer players these days want the online game play why Warzone and other games work like ESO. I don't think they will really care about old school fallout playstyle they are there just to have fun with what they are use to which is Online play with others and 76 is a great game for that!

If Bethesda were brave and said "okay guys, we'll give you Fallouit First for 2.99 a month" I would celebrate. I can also well imagine that it could even be worth it for Beth in the end. The price is what keeps players from subscribing. If there were a reasonable amount, I think a lot more players would take advantage of the offer. Although I think that even 4.99 would still be completely okay. Yes, 4.99 would be the perfect sweet spot in my opinion. This isn't too expensive and would certainly be profitable for Beth.
Just remove the dumb subscription, it adds Pay 2 win elements.

A lot of players use the free trials of fallout 1st to scrap like mad and then pull from it after it expires. I tried that, but since I play daily anyway I thought it was worth it to subscribe.
There's absolutely no way that they don't have some game offering in the pipeline to cash in on the success of the show.
They would have made those plans before the show's release without knowing if it would be successful or not.
My girlfriend, my bestfriend and I have been on 76 the last week and I'm totally addicted. Fallout is my 2nd favorite series behind Halo and have played them all an insane amount
The stash box really isn't much of an issue if you don't pile up a bunch of junk. You only need like 1-200 of each junk item. More than that is pointless. There are many weight saving perks you can select as well as weight saving legendary armor effects. You can carry thousands of pounds of stuff on you with lots of room to spare. Also, they give you free fallout 1st from time to time and you can put all your junk in the scrap box for free. After the event ends, you get to keep the scrapbox junk with no weight penalty. It creates an unstated quest.. gather as much scrap as you can during the free Fallout 1st event. If you dedicated yourself you could be well over 1000 scrap in every category. You are good forever with that, just picking up a few things here or there.

I came back because of the show and I’m loving it.
I was gifted Fallout 76 shortly after release for PC by a friend. IIRC he got a code for the Bethesda Launcher (remember that thing?) because he purchased a new GPU and was not interested in playing the game. Back then: I was very disappointed with the technical state of the game and the boring, empty game world. Some months later, I bought another controller for my PS4 and was gifted a copy of Fallout 76 with that purchase - back then, you'd get the game with every new console or controller, as all our shops were clearing stock because the game flopped so hard.
Fast-forward to 2020, when Fallout 76 was released on Steam and the Bethesda Launcher was slowly phased out. I played the game for a few hours and I must say: I would have played it a lot more, if I had a friend or two who would have played the game with me - but that was not the case. So I was still disappointed, although not to the degree of the launch version.
Now, I got back into the game and started playing it as a "Fallout 3 light" experience, hopping on for some hours now and then and questing through Appalachia. To be fair I'd love to get someone on board with me to play this game in co-op, but I guess this won't happen any time soon. 😅
I also won't get the Fallout 1st Subscription (I still remember, when you were bullied when you had the "1st" icon enabled in-game 😂), as I already spent far too much money in Ultima Online, WoW, Warhammer Online, etc. - going back all the time to 1998 with the release of "Ultime Online: The Second Age" and the OSI ("Origin Systems") servers.
As someone who preordered 76 and was beyond excited to play a multiplayer fallout I was disappointed. However coming back to it, it’s very fun and very grindy which I enjoy and just seeing actual human npcs it feels so much better and I will continue to play it.
Started both fallout 4 and 76. 76 definitely has me more hooked, so i can imagine myself playing that a lot more.

If the stash is what y'all are worried about I think you guys need to scrap all of the junk and sell the things you don't need also during the free fallout 1st you can stock up on as much junk as possible and move all you have in your stash to the scrap box that way you'll have all the junk but get extra space.
Fallout 76 is great now. So many fun events, the dlcs aren’t insane story but fun and worth doing. The Nuke bosses also are cool. The game overall anyone should play at this point if they aren’t stubborn haha.
I would understand *pay once and keep forever* system to remove weight limit issues and i would totally pay for it if game is good. But hearing it is monthly based system is huge turn off for me.
I can say im a legendary 76 player .... i was here during the years of the legacy weapons and when there was nothing before wastlanders.
I enjoy 76, so I consider the cash shop similar to the one of POE (which is broadly accepted). After all, it is basically one of the best MMORPG's out there at the moment. And it provides choice: free, or cash shop support, or Fallout 1st subscription. And all of the items are available for everyone. I personally think this monetization is OK-ish.
Imagine if Bethesda had the sense to actually have something good and new to time in with the tv show release, sounds like they were asleep at the wheel or sacrificed Fallout for Starfield.
a successful adaptation can revive a game from the dead, the same thing happened with cyberpunk edgerunners

I dont regret playing it. It is so much fun and a chill game, that i bought Fallout First half off. Waiting for next gen update for 4. Great time to be a Fallout fan
dude the "Edgerunners Resurgence" that happened to Cyberpunk 2077 literally managed to repair the games reputation from "dogshit flop" to "having one of the best selling DLC's of all time"

Just started Fallout 76 for the first time and I’m having a blast.
I doubt they will remove Fallout first, it sounds just like ESO plus, you really can't play ESO comfortably as a veteran doing everything in the game without it. The game is built to be tedious without it.
Fallout 1st doesn't just give you unlimited space in your Scrap Box but also for your Ammo. Oh and you didn't mention the 1650 premium currency they give you every month. $99 a year is a really good deal if you are a whale like me with the other F2P games I've been playing over the last 12 years.
Yeah I don't know if Mario got a big boost from the movie, Nintendoo doesn't release a lot of their numbers.
76 arguably has the main best main story of the fallout series, although its told through tapes mostly. Camp building is interesting if your into it, but its best as kind of a shoot em up of all things.
i just uninstalled fallout 76 to install fallout 4 but as i was seeing this video i regretted my decision it just seemed like a mediocre game to me not BAD but just mediocre i may install it again to play it with some friends but the levelling process is so slow i played for 6 hours from level 20 and i got to level 23 - 24 following the main quest and doing events anyways love your videos keep up the good work
Moonshine jamboree (if that event pops up), is nuts, with a few lunchboxes, you can get like 5+ levels every completion. But yeah, if you're craving the story side and main quest stuff, I would highly recommend giving new vegas, fo3, or fo4 the focus. thanks!
Im around level 350. I just came back to the game at about level 310. I've got all those levels in about a week (4-5 hours max per night, and not every night). If you do expeditions really fast, they can level me up twice sometimes. The Atlantic city one (flooded streets i think) is really good for XP farming. Public events are also, eviction notice has no right to be as good as it is for XP and legendries so if you spot that join in, and the one where you have to defend workers from ghouls (damnit cant remember the name) is also great for XP. Make sure you also do mamma dolche's public event too, it gives you food as a reward that boosts XP.
Oh and Int, join a public team that are a "casual" public team and you get XP boost, usually... people just join them for the boosts so, dont worry if you dont feel sociable just join one and do your thing, apart from expedition public groups and daily op public groups, you are not going to annoy anyone joining and still going solo.
If I'm ever playing "the meta" of a game, it's completely by accident.
Fact that 76 has a larger concurrent peak than new Vegas is sad.

The "artificial barriers" are the same kinds of barriers they use in The Elder Scrolls Online. I've thought those barriers should have been removed since both games released. You want us to pay for a subscription? Make something worth subscribing for. Don't block or obscure access to basic features.
ive picked f76 10 days ago and ive spent like 100 hours...for 7 dollar...its so worthhhhhhhhh, also i love seeing people builds, are amazing
I love Fallout, have ever since I played 3/NV on the 360. Been modding 4 for ages, love it.
Have barely touched 76. Got it on sale for like a tenner, checked it out, wasn't feeling it.
It just doesn't have those wasteland vibes, and the whole multiplayer online thing is basically the complete opposite of what I want from Fallout.
This won't get me back to 76; in fact, it's probably more annoying now that everyone's jumping in on it.
You want a good MMO, go check out Final Fantasy XIV. Great story, and you can play the first 3 expansions for free, which is easily hundreds and hundreds of hours of free gameplay and storytelling.
I started playing FF14 at the start of this year, and as someone who generally dislikes MMOs it's maybe been the highlight of this year for me.
14 is amazing, I got through Heavensward patch content and loved it, I want to go back someday and finish. I agree it doesn't deliver the same experience as NV, F4, FO3. I still quite like the world and the vibes, but I fully understand that it doesn't land for a lot
i want them to do fallout newvegas and 3 in a collection with graphical upgrades and them fininshing content they didnt have time to in the original releses

Highly recommend people try New Vegas, if mods are too scary for you, try Fallout 4.

Even before the swarm of surfies entered the game, it was a successful live service, no 5 year old AAA game with constant updates isn't. Derp. Rumors were it actually makes quite a bit of money for Bethesda.
Imagine if the halo show was good... It would have done wonders for the halo franchise.

I bought 76 after Wastelanders, played and completed it into 2021. Now I'm back doing the DLCs, and invested in Fallout First. I pirate practically everything else so
I played it again. It still sucks.
Fallout 76 is much better but you can't play it expecting the depth that the other fallouts had. Also the fact that it succumbs to the typical GaaS manipulation is a huge minus for a lot of people (more so older gamers that grew up without that in the game). Since it is an MMO its forced to remove a lot of the depth the single player experiences had. 76 is not a bad game it's just not like the other games and it was marketed as kind of so and so people are salty about that.
When people made fun of us for playing this game..we stood our ground and now they wanna join 💀ayyye I ain’t complaining I knew this day would come eventually just had to give it a chance
After a couple hundred hours it can get really really repetitive, but there is always something to do (even if you donnt care to do it)

Doing remasters is a waste of time and energy. Id rather them make a new one or just focus on more content for 76, like the new area of the map coming up. And definitely removing the 1200 limit of the stash box makes since.

It crashes multiple times an hour on ps5. And fallout 4 wont even launch if you have the dlc downloaded. Guess i should expect that from bethesda.

It makes me sad. I’ve been playing a lot of halo and it’s still a great series… hell I’d even say that Infinite is a great game… but there’s like no player base. We need THESE kinda numbers.
Yeah, I definitely would recommend any fans of the Fallout show to check out Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4 or Fallout 3. I told a friend of mine if they start with Fallout 4 and they like it then go on to 76 but definitely don't start with 76 was my advice.

Fallout New Vegas is superior than all, BUT for new players I always recommend 4 as it a more refined experience for beginners
Fallout 76 is still a greedy cash grab by Bethesda.
It has a lot of potential, but Bethesda has sacrificed potential for short-term monetisation since launch. Basic gameplay features are still behind an indefensible paywall. Inventory and stash are still HARDCORE limited.
These factors will put a super hard brake on the hype for Fallout 76 again within the next few weeks. As soon as players have invested enough game time and realise that they are being fooled and without reason hindered in their gaming freedom and progress.
Because Bethesda is not willing to learn. If they limited themselves to paid content of a cosmetic nature, they would make so much more money. But they're not learning. They are damaging themselves and don't realise it. They should take a closer look at the successful models of Epic's Fortnite or GGG's Path of Exile. Because satisfied players are happy to pay more. I count myself among them. But nobody in their right mind can be satisfied with Bethesda's Fallout 76 strategy. And you can see that from the player numbers - which are still far too low even in the hype - and will soon plummet again. It's a shame.

I really dislike when people crap on a structure like Fallout 1st. What do you think is paying to keep the live service going? A one-time fee of 8 dollars for a buy-in certainly isn't.

You can bet your ass FO3 and NV remastered will cost at least 40 bucks. So they will be standalone. No way this will be a free update. Just look at Skyrim and FO4 VR.
In switerland Fallout 1 subscription cost about 18 chf. That is about 20 USD.

there was a reason 76 was free for a week and only 7 bucks its a sad addition to the fallout franchise and this is coming from someone who lives in WV you spawn in vault you leave vault no interesting story to go through really its just missing somethings that make fallout, fallout i mean their original plan was to be no human npcs but they back tracked and added them it has level locked weapons they added durability back however you feel on that this game loads you up with so much ammo that it is never an issue it only comes down to durability of the weapon, i dont know if i never found the difficulty setting in 76 but the enemys have no chance in killing you tbh they scale the game in a poor way you can kill things way higher lvl with ease just to get items you cant use in F4 if you run into a higher lvl enemy you die not get his shit to use when your lvl 50, this game will never come close to NV, 3 and 4 time to wait another 6 years for fallout 5 Edit: the game is on the same engine as fallout 4 honestly all the updates for this game shouldve just gone toward it full stop aswell as a shitty multiplayer quest system were you have to solo rooms or do them twice if you wanna do it with your friend one run for his playthrough just to play it again for yours they even failed at the one thing 76 was ment for, multiplayer. the only good thing the game doesnt look a whole lot better than F4 but the godrays and trees look great
If you're looking to get into 76 please for the love of God don't play it on PC., you can get everything for so little. Xbox ftw! Yeah sure the grind is tougher but I'd rather have fun than exploiting the game

New Vegas and Kotor 2 (both by obsidian, of course) released broken and became huge as the following grew and time went on too

The Witcher show gave The Witcher 3 a huge boost in sales. Though I'm not sure if it was a bigger boost than Bethesda is seeing right now
