Thanks for the concern haha, the force exists to give headroom for detail as far as I know, can have the base set high and the in game settings reduced to find a fine and (safe) spot Thanks for commenting!
Ok, I will not be buying one of these. Not because I can't handle it, but because it would probably KO or at the least injure one of my curious little toddlers.....
Having driven formula type cars, this isn't how it is. The steering is quite smooth and it does not fight you like that, depending on the car but i'd say around 7-12nm is what's required to turn. The thing that gives you the real workout is the g-forces while turning, that's why most racingdrivers have large necks to support those forces.
Your experience with getting whacked by the steering wheel makes me so glad I didn't get that DD2 that was on sale on Black Friday. I have a similar wheel so I'd probably get hit the same way as you. On a totally separate subject, I actually got my wrist caught in between the gap between the handle and the flat part and the wheel slowly turned and so my arm was slowly being twisted. Thankfully it stopped after it hit 90 degrees. I had a 8Nm CSL DD. My wrist would have been broken if I had your base.
i dont get that i never used a ffb wheel before and bought a dd1 i always run it at the full 20nm its not that bad it doesnt feel super realistic at full but its really fun to fight it
I have a moza r5 with just over 5nm. Tried it with about 130% strength in assetto corsa and rfactor 2. Im a former powerlifter, used to repping 180kg on the bench for example. Obviously Im strong enough. But the obvious point to me is what is effective to be Quick on track? Im about at 80-90% now on that wheel which feels powerful enough to communicate everything I need. I cant understand the point really with like 20nm wheels.
As you are, I enjoyed powerlifting (although knowjere as strong as you lmao) With more experience ive come to the conclusion that ~ 10nm is the sweetspot
Good sir what seat are you using? Im looking at the wheel stand 2.0 from next level but not sure if 15-20nm dd would be too much for it? Would appreciate your input! Cheers!
I'm using a Thrustmaster T300 and I love it and never regret buying it used 2 years ago. I would like to try a DD base, but I am not dedicated to sim racing enough to warrant buying one myself, and unfortunately I don't know anybody that has one. THAT laugh At 4:08, Just when you started to enjoy and have fun. You got clapped lol. What wheel is that? I have been playing for years and just now about to dive into the wheel world. I think I want that one😂
I was always curious what full feedback would do to the surface the wheel is mounted on. I've seen wheels mounted to the same desk the monitor is on and thought "how does that not shake the life out of your setup?"
Developers should add a check box on the settings to make the sim freeze when there is a crash. Professional flight simulators have that function otherwise the control columns and the motion hydraulics could kill or seriously injure the participants.
Its not 8 nm its like 30 really or even more imagine olé cars día not have any wheel assistance but they had not the amount of grip tath the today f1 cars have and taths why they have a little bit o steering assistance because if they had no wheel assistance the steering would literally imposible of turn
@@venunix old systems without power steering is only hard to steer when you have no speed. As soon as you bring in some speed into the scenario the steering eases up significantly. Obviously nothing compared to power steering but it is far from the 30nm i believe
So question.. why does it go nuts and potentially break fingers/wrist/etc when you crash? Like.. I love the force it gives when in use.. but can't you disable it from spinning like crazy when you crash to avoid injury? Give me all the force until its about to go nuts, then just stop.. or release the force so it spins freely? I been really eyeing the Asetek 27nm unit.. but my CSL DD at 8nm is pretty strong. I'd love the higher capability to tone it down so it has plenty of head room, doesnt heat up, etc.. but at 27nm.. isn't that pretty dang dangerous and could easily snap wrist/finger bones?
Should the game not simply (gradually) cease FF in a single motion when the car is out of control, let alone into a wall? What added value is there to rip your hands off in a crash?
It varies, at the moment ive been away from my sim on holiday for 3 weeks, but I've been using my fanatec podium dd1 most recently with fanatec V3 pedals :)
