    Hello Cpt.
    A beautifully flown visual of the 06. 🤩
    Great experience, unfortunately there was extreme blinding from the sun and wind from the side.
    I'm amazed at how beautifully the visual flew in these conditions! 👍
    What I really liked were the constant overlays of the FMC.
    Thanks!
    The view from the front of the cockpit across the entire Decent was impressive.
    Thank you for showing the bays of Formentor and Alcudia.
    Super great video!
    I'm looking forward to the next one!
    With this in mind, I wish you and your crew a nice week.
    Greetings from Styria 🤗

I started watching as I have severe flight anxiety and I wanted to get a better understanding of what goes on in the cockpit whilst flying. 2 days ago I got back from Morocco, if not for your videos I would have really struggled. But had a lovely holiday and both flights were smooth! Now I am facing my fear head on, and have another flight to Ibiza in September 😊

    Hello Captain 👨‍✈️!
    Thank you very much for this great video. The quality really improves with every video! I really appreciate your effort! I'm always happy when the captain talks to the passengers. Not all pilots do that (unfortunately). My favourite island is Mallorca, but Ibiza is also great! I really enjoyed the flight over the island of Mallorca and the airport of Palma de Mallorca! It's always amazing how small such a big airport can look from above. The approach to Ibiza airport was also beautiful to watch. The sun reflecting over the sea during the short-final must have been very disturbing. Luckily you had sunglasses on 🕶️. The co-pilot wasn't wearing any. I hope the bird shown is ok. That was a very close call. I always find it a bit strange when pilots and controllers radio to each other in their native language and not in English. I have another small question: How many ft/min do you climb/sink at most of the time? Do you ever climb or descend at ± 3500 ft/min during normal flight operations? I am curious and hope for an answer!
    I also hope to see a video from Palma de Mallorca soon!
    best regards

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching and for your extensive feedback! We did not hit the bird. I assume that it is still ok and enjoying Ibiza. Climbrates of more than 3500 feet are possible. We may see that during the takeoff with a not very heavy airplane. Descents with more than 3500 feet happen on a regular basis, usually if we are at higher altitudes and above the ideal descent profile. We do not want to descent with more than 6000 feet per minute as long as we are above 10.000 feet. Below 10.000 feet we use much lower rates as we get closer to the ground. There are a few Palma de Mallorca videos already available on my channel. Here are 2 links: ruclips.net/video/FdQKx2ExdLs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/CnYQCzdpNI0/видео.html

The transition to the sidestick was very easy, took no more than 20 minutes and was done on the first training day In the Toulouse training center. I like the sidestick very much because it enables you to have the table infront of you.

    Fab video again. No wonder you still needed the LS indicators on - that sunlight and reflections on the water seemed to make it a potentially very tricky approach. Question. In Managed mode, I understand the Autopilot will obey the constraints of the MCDU in speed and altitude, etc, so that for example, it can calculate what descent rate it needs to achieve a ceratin level at a given point, but in Selected mode, when in Open Descent - if it has no 'target' - what dictates the rate of descent?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! We usually keep the ILS indication on during a visual approach. This improves our situational awareness. In open descent, the power is at idle and the target is the selected or managed speed. The resulting vertical speed is variable.

    Stefan, which has been the most challenging flight(s) you’ve done? Problems with the plane, passenger problems or extreme turbulence?

      Thanks for sharing your very personal experience! I am in the lucky position that the airplanes which I fly are very well maintained. Technical issues are very rare. Most of the flying is uneventful. Sure, we have to circumnavigate clouds, sometimes it is bumpy during the approach or a sick passenger requires an expedited approach. Once in a while we have to go around due to a blocked runway or a windshear. This is part of our normal job. We are trained for that and handle it professionally.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos

      Für uns ist an dieser Stelle die barometrische Höhe maßgeblich. Die genaue Höhe des Radiohöhenmessers wird erst relevant, wenn wir uns in niedriger Höhe befinden: zum Beispiel für den Flare und das Minimum bei einem Anflug im Nebel (CATII oder CAT III). In niedriger Höhe passten die Werte ja wieder ganz gut zusammen.

      No difference. But it is not about the minutes. It is about the time zone. If I tell somebody we arrive at 8:50, I have to tell her or him about the time zone.
