- In this episode we will be listening to Greta Van Fleet, 'The Barbarians'. Pretty sure this is my favorite song on the album thus far. Nasty and pretty heavy!

This one is crazy good. I love the choice of that middle eastern esque scale for the solo in the bridge, and that staggering sounding drum groove. Fantastic!
I love this break when you hear heavy bass and then Jake's playing. I didn't like that song at first but then I just loved it!
I was lucky enough to see the live debut of this song during the Strange Horizons tour.
Greta says about Barbarians: “The Barbarians” was the final addition to the album. It is about the death of innocence. Youth spoiled by the industry of war.”
When I listen to it I can picture an ancient battle on a movie screen.
There is no questioning I love Greta Van Fleet. And being in Australia, I was so fortunate to have stumbled on them during the Covid lockdown, when I spent A LOT of time on RUclips. I view them as a rare diamond. Josh's lyrics have a clear message about the state of the world - what it is and what it could be. They are both passionate and self-deprecating. They would fit into the 70s but wonderfully they bring that to people today. I think that would inspire many to visit 70s music where it was about bands and not over produced 'pop' stars. They are inspiring people to pick up instruments and to create lyrics that have something to say.
Let’s go! I was waiting for you to get to this one. Def one of the best off the album
This one is up there with my top favorites. It’s very cinematic in parts and that is also a quality I love in music. By the way, new song just dropped. Check out “The Falling Sky” soon! 😄
It’s a great song and it rocks LIVE!!! All of the guys just gel on this tune!
Was also one of my favorites on the album. The Falling Sky is a sickk riff.
One of my faves!!!
Agree! I effin love them too!!!
Absolutely bangin!!! Love this!! Thanks Shotgunn! 😊
Another late addition to the album. LOVE how they end this song!
This was my guess for which song off of TBAGG was going to be your favorite
I'm no musician at all but I enjoy how you break down each song and notice little things I'd never capture myself about their music. Got hooked with your Greta reactions!
Glad to hear! Thank you for your comment and support! Please, Like and Subscribe if you haven’t already!
Just FYI: The lyric should be "funeral of innocence". I've seen it misquoted as "any sense" but I checked the vinyl insert to be sure. However, both ways would make sense!
I love this one!!! The music is A++++
The Falling Sky just dropped, both the studio and live versions. It’s a jam track with lots of layers. Jake had the riff for a few years and he wanted a song with a harmonica solo. It’s awesome.
But back to your reaction, yeah, this song is a beauty. It’s interesting listening to the new song and this back to back…I think the fact that they used different producers really shows up.
Noice!!! I was expecting it maybe Friday. I guess we have a new reaction video coming soon!!
@@shotgunndunn they usually do Friday but apparently they were on an Apple radio show today that was going to play it, so they released it first.
Built by Nations, is the one you talked about.
I knew you’d like this song!
Best one on the album by a mile
They have just released... The falling sky,... minuets ago.! 😊
Top 3 songs on the album in no order:
Built by nations
Barbarians
Weight of dreams
Not sure if you saw but they released another single about 15 minutes ago!
And it’s excellent!!
@@sandifulmor8327 I just listened and I’m obsessed!
I LOVE the thumbnail!
Thanks, Beb!!!
'Are we prisoners or renegades? well I've done my time'. This kind of sounds like a response to the bands longtime detractors.
I know I may be the only one who thinks so, but parts of this remind me of Rush.
