- Very detailed step-by-step video on how to drain the cooling system and replace the upper and lower radiator hoses and refill the cooling system. This was done on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 6.6 Duramax diesel. The procedure in this video should cover the years of 2006-2010 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Duramax models. Listed below are links to the two hoses and coolant used in this video.

Thanks for doing this video. Very clear and detailed.
Needed the lower off while changing a water pump. Thank you!
That is one clean lbz. You don't even want to see under my hood.
Great video, but I decided to just cut the very bottom hose under the skid plate I removed. It is the lowest point in the cooling system and I'm going to toss the old hose anyway. Your going to have to cut it anyways to get the last of the coolant out of the bottom hose. You won't have the big splash of coolant going everywhere if you just make a cut in the bottom hose and just let gravity do the rest. It will drain completely.
This video is awesome! I am doing this soon and wanted to see what was involved. Thank you very much for posting this most informative how-to video. Greatly appreciated!
Great clear video, one of the best. No loud music or mumbling narrator. Looks like taking that lower hose out is a job for a midwife. Just here to see if you needed to lubricate that lower hose connector o ring.
GREAT VIDEO!! Well done!
Excellent video! The best one out there. Why distilled water? The factory owner's manual says to use clean DRINKING WATER. Wish I knew the reason the FACTORY wants drinking water.
Thanks. I use distilled water over tap water because distilled doesn’t contain all the minerals that tap water does and distilled water won’t boil.
Very helpful, thank you!
Excellent and thorough step by step on installation of new radiator hoses. I need to do this for my 2003 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax and this is the best video I’ve seen on doing the job. Thanks for putting this together. Your truck looks almost new.
Thanks for the positive feedback I really do appreciate it and glad I could help.
One of the Best How To Videos I Have Seen Thanks!
The video worked for my 2004 Dura Max and was great. Since my original hoses had to be cut off it took me a little extra work. I still missed the part on how not get a bath. Thanks.
Excellent video. Thanks for the details and good quality video. I'm impressed it was down without the hoist that I don't have. Now to do it myself.
Very informative. I'm in the middle of it on an 05. You made it look easy!
Excellent camera work, editing, and instruction. Do you have anything on replacing the water distribution pipe and seals? Thanks.
No not at the moment. Thanks
Thanks for the video
Very helpful!!
I have a 2001 GMC Duramax this is exactly what I needed.
This was a wonderfully done video just pulled off my hose waiting for the new one to come in tomorrow thank you!!
Good video! Even though I have an 8.1 instead of Duramax, the hoses are similar. Especially that bottom radiator hose, it was a little cantankerous but your video helped a lot. Thanks!
Excellent video! Guided me through my 04 Chevy Duramax. Thank you!
I have same year and been looking for a good video on this job
Awesome video!! Very in depth and informative!
Very good video. You showed everything in great detail and didn't block the camera or skip over anything like so many people do. I'm subscribing now. I'm changing them in my one owner (me) 2006 LBZ, and the only thing I'm doing different is using Dayco hoses instead of Gates, only because Gates cost over twice what I could get the Dayco for, and I just can't afford Gates right now. I just rebuilt my power steering pump and changed the high pressure hoses (used Gates) because the shaft seal and one hose was leaking. That's when I found out the P.S. fluid had saturated and weakened both upper and lower radiator hoses. Fun times!
Glad it helped you out thanks for the sub. There’s nothing wrong with dayco I’ve used them on a lot of hoses and timing belts and never had any issues. A lot of manufacturers are using dayco for oem stuff now.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE I agree, there's nothing wrong with Dayco.
Just about to do this my my 06. Great walk through! Thanks! I do have the inner fender well out for another job and it should make it a bit easier but not worth doing for this alone.
I've always found removing the coolant tank first makes it easier to remove that hose as well.
Great explanation!!!!!!
THANK YOU the shop was $800 plus $200 for parts
nice job
Looking at online reviews of that Gates hose does not look good. A few years ago I researched this job due to knowing some day I would have to do it. Mishimoto hoses are the best. Yes I know the price is up there but not a part you want to fail
Yeah I just went with the gates because that's what the OEM ones were.
What about their cooling stacks? I've heard the Mishimoto radiators have some quality issues.
How did clean the reservoir?
I just filled it up multiple times with simple green and water shook and let sit for awhile and then flushed out all the simple green with the garden hose.
Thank you, I’ll do that 👌🏼
