    Good informative video. I didn't see an EGR valve and was wondering if it didn't come with it or if you deleted and if the latter, notice any benefits?

      This engine didn’t come with an egr valve. I had an 04 suburban with a 5.3 and an 05 Tahoe with the 5.3 and neither one of those had an egr valve either. I don’t know if that’s weird or not, maybe I just got lucky and one less thing to break.

      Ok, mine is an 01 2500 HD with the 6.0, probably why it's different. I have heard of people having problems with them and so when I did the radiator swap I went ahead and took off the EGR valve to clean it and it was really dirty so that's why I asked. I appreciate the fast reply.

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  3 года назад +1

      No problem. This one is an 03. I though I heard the egr valve were problematic and expensive but I haven’t had any real experience with them on these engines.

      @@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic I haven't messed with too many on gas motors but I've played with several VW TDI's and the carbon build up on most was literally about 0.25" thick around the entire circumference of the lines connecting to the EGR, drastically restricting air flow. I imagine they are problematic and is the reason why the newer models are different.

      Diesels are a little different. They have high cylinder temperatures so they produce much more nox emissions than gasoline engines. The soot from egr system in diesels are unreal. It’s mind boggling how dirty the intake tracks get. I have 2 diesel trucks and they are both pre emission engines. I don’t think I’ll ever own a newer Diesel truck because of the headaches with the emission systems. We have 5 f550s with a 6.7 and they need work quite frequently. I’ve been lucky for a bit with a good stretch though

    You ever get the dreaded “reduced engine power” lump mode on the pickup truck?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  Год назад +1

      I haven’t gotten it but the owner before me did get it on this truck and it was the throttle body that was the problem. I think The wiring within 6 inches of the connector can be problematic also.

    • @2087erick
      @2087erick Год назад +1

      I did,replaced the throtle body and would still do it every once in a while,it completely stopped when i replaced the wiring harness

    • @moejr14
      @moejr14 Год назад

      @@2087erick so you replaced the whole harness?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  Год назад

      I believe it’s just a 6 inch pig tail with the plug that goes to the throttle body.

    What do you think about the radiators on eBay I was thinking about ordering one from eBay?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  2 года назад +1

      I haven’t gotten any from eBay before. If I were looking on there I would search for a part number I got from a parts store. You can sometimes find them cheaper for the same part. The only issue is usually no warranty off eBay. I use rock auto usually. The parts are cheaper but the shipping is pricey, they do usually have a lot of parts though.

      I would just replace it myself, but I’ve seen people squeeze down the ears that hold the tank on with pliers and get the leak to stop.

    you should do a video on how to get a wife that helps you fix your truck

      That’s actually my daughter. At the time she was going to go to a trade school for auto tech and I was trying to give her some real experience before she made her choice. My wife will help if I REALLY need it, but I’m probably in the same boat as you.
