I don’t know about you seeming “happier” on this cruise but your excitement and enthusiasm on Marvel day was greater than I can ever remember seeing from you before😉
The last time I cried on a cruise... I gave the piano bar server a $20 tip. He came to me the next night and recorded me on his phone to show his son back home in his village Americans. So I tried to represent for all of us. Choked me up!!!
Lol. Well well well. This is the video I have been waiting for. It’s ok you walked away not being a Disney Fan…. But I’ll tell you this… THE MAGIC GOT YOU. 😉 and that makes me happy to know. And yes! One day I was having dinner with my family and right behind me I felt a hand on my shoulder.. it was CINDERELLA… and I. WEPT. LIKE. JESUS. ok?!? So. yes. There u go! Lol. Happy you experienced it…. Hope u will experience more!
You hit the nail on the head when you said it was great for the Disney fan. What’s cool about cruising is everyone has their favorite and it’s ok to have your favorite! It doesn’t mean it has to be everyone’s favorite. Thanks for giving such a thorough review!
That IS the Magic of Disney. It is always an emotional ride. Most people, whether Disney fans or not, will appreciate the quality you get for your $. Not only in the service, but in the “feels.” A Disney Cruise is on my bucket list. However, I want to take my kids and grandkids when I go. I want the full experience of seeing it through, not only my own memories of childhood and my visits to Disney World with my children, but through my grandchildren’s eyes. One of the best memories of childhood was watching the Wonderful World of Disney on television. It was always a family event when I was a child. Years later, our daughter was even married at a Disney Resort. We are a Disney family. I think that these are the people that will absolutely love Disney cruises. And, like staying at their resorts, are blown away by the care and quality behind the experience. To them, it is worth every penny! So jealous and happy you got to go. I believe, as you think back on this cruise, you will know that is unlike no other, in a way you just can’t quite put your finger on. And you will smile! 😁
I'm with you, Tony. I would not pay extra for the Disney experience unless I was traveling with a child. Give me Celebrity, RCC or Princess any day! Appreciate your candid review.
I agree. Disney really gears a lot of their experience to children or the big Disney fan. Since we don’t have children and although I enjoy Disney I wouldn’t pay the price for the experience. We love RC loads of restaurants and bars, fun things to do zip line, rock climbing, laser tag, bumper cars etc.
As a Disney only cruiser, I thought your review was great! I agree with so much of your commentary about who should and shouldn't go. Glad you enjoyed it. But let's face it, no other cruise line's room service will deliver those iconic Mickey bars anytime day or night 😉😉
As someone who tried to talk you into it, I'm proud of you for trying it out. I think your review was honest and spot on. Disney is filled with emotion and nostalgia. Not only that, but they do know how to put together wonderful stories and I think they do an excellent job of bringing those stories to life onboard the ship. To us, that is hands down worth every penny that we pay because we are "Disney people" and our kids are as well. As someone who has sailed Celebrity, Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, etc. and enjoyed every one of them, you are spot on in recognizing that different people will like different things. Not everyone will like Virgin Voyages either. I will say that Disney Cruising during COVID was more disappointing. The masks for us were a big deal because of not being able to see our kids' faces light up when they saw and interacted the characters. The kids (and adults) weren't able to hug the characters that they love like they used to. The onboard entertainment choices (other than the big shows) were cut back quite a bit. Our parents, also avid cruisers and I compare their cruise "likes" to Tony's, were much happier pre-pandemic Disney Cruising opposed to this newer version. Glad you went, thanks for your honesty and for showing how emotional it made you. If it didn't make you emotional, we might have been worried about you! And I'm curious Tony, how was the interaction with the cruise director? I know that's one thing you had asked me on our cruise together. - Zach
I've never cruised with Disney, but we LOVE Disney World. Regarding the emotions, they have a way of bringing that out in people. I don't know what it is, but they do! I cried when I saw my first parade at Disney World. My husband will even admit to feeling "teary eyed." Disney fans will understand.
I love cruising Disney. It does take a certain savvy to get it right. Knowing where the least expensive cabins with veranda's are and how to get them. Knowing were the little nooks and crannies are at the rear of the ship for very restful moments. and a hundred other things.
very informational. Good insite on who would be attracted to Disney cruises. I'm not a Disney fan myself, so I will 'skip it'! Glad you had a good time though. You got a good channel going here, GL getting to 1M!
Thank you for this. I've been on 16 Disney Cruises and worked at WDW for 20 years, and this is the most honest and emotionally perfect review I've ever seen about the Disney Cruise experience. I'm glad you got to experience the emotional connection that keeps us coming back, but can also appreciate your view on who the Disney experience is for. I guess the only thing really to say is "Excelsior!"
I went on a Disney cruise 2009 with my fam - 4 kids and sis fam with 5 kids along Gma! This was 1 month after the sudden passing of our dad (gpa) and the cruise he was supposed to take with sisters fam. So my bro in-law under severe grief booked 2 balconies rooms for my fam and we went in his stead! I cried through the entire cruise. I was a bit a newbie cruiser but one thing I loved, was with all our kids there, the staff for used much in them and did everything for them in the Dinig room. It let us kick back and relax and enjoy the meal! They cut their steak, had their fave fruit slices at the table ready for one of my kids, chocolate milk ready to drink etc… I loved it! Now one reason I may have loved it so much was my bro in-law footed the bill! 😱 Like I said, grief stricken! Thanks for all your vids! I love them. Just started following so now watching older videos.
As a fan of both DCL & RCCL, I thought this overview was excellent! My pet peeve is when DCL Stans bad mouth other cruise lines to boost Up DCL. This was a very objective point of view from someone with experience from a variety of cruise lines. Well done Tony!
I have watched many "macho" dudes cry when they board Disney ships....it is something special and the fact that there are so many moments that bring out emotions is AMAZING. Glad you got to experience it! Great video!
I wonder if it is partly enjoying seeing the excitement and joy of other people, families enjoying time together- I know that was part of my experience at Disneyland - too prone to seasickness to go on a cruise, but still enjoy hearing about the experiences of others 🥰
I have never been on a Disney cruise, but my family is really into Disney. As a child (and still today), my favorite princess was Snow White. For our 25th wedding anniversary my husband and I went to Disneyworld for the first time. We went on a mission to find Snow White. When we found her I actually started crying. I was totally taken by surprise by the overwhelming emotions at that moment. I understand exactly what you must have been feeling to meet your childhood hero.
Tony I think you are such a special person. Seeing you well up got me crying... Keep being you. Wishing you and your sweet wife much joy and happiness.
Huge Disney cruise lover - that being said I think your review is excellent. It's not for everyone but it is for a lot of people. I love that I don't have to pay extra for sodas/coffee/tea or room service. I feel like the guest services/cast members go above and beyond to make sure you are having a great cruise and that to me makes it worth the cost. I should add that we travel with adults no kids but another great perk that Disney cruises have is the free kids clubs to keep your kids entertained. We've done SWDAS twice but have never done Marvel - your review definitely made me one to do a Marvel cruise. Thanks for a great review, and I'm glad you enjoyed your Disney cruise.
I mean the fact that you’re not a Disney fan and you still went on this cruise says a lot about your commitment to your audience! 🙏🏻👍🏻 I appreciate that! Thank you 😊
Aaaah, Tony - you did a wonderful job describing your experiences! Enjoyed hearing about your emotional connections!! You also did a great job describing the types of people that Disney cruises may or may not be a good fit for.
I have been on the fence waiting for Tony’s review. Long time Disney Passholders 7 years until c19. After watching all of the Disney characters and nonstop Disney I was like nope that is definitely not for me. How do I booked and gone on one I would’ve been very disappointed.
It is not surprising that Disney wouldn’t be for Tony, he lives in Florida and doesn’t even go to the parks. You don’t have to be a Disney fan but if you are not at all into it, DCL is not for you. IMO. I agree with Tony’s take on it, but couple of things… he went on the oldest ship in the fleet, which while is well maintained lacks modern advancements. It is also during Covid and Disney has scaled back a lot of their entertainment, especially in the adult only areas. The only thing that surprised me is Tony’s take on the food, for my family and our friends that cruised with us on Royal, Princess and Disney all think Disney’s included food is much better.
@@constancecook-cruisetravel1166 We saw hardly any characters on our Disney cruise and took more of the adult only comedies and entertainment. It is only non stop Disney If you want it to be. We love both Disney and other lines, but after going on 5 Disney cruises we were ready to venture out and are just as happy on Royal now. If we do on a Disney cruise now it’s not for the characters etc, at all.
I made the mistake of going on DCL for my first 7 cruises and then I went on Carnival for my 8th and last cruise to date. DCL just spoiled me with their service and cleanliness. My kids are teens now but they are still asking to go back to DCL and I’m not arguing but it is a battle of value and your hard earned money. So decisions will need to be made. Glad you got to experience the magic!
Disney is an immersive experience. That’s why people get emotional- it’s relaxing, entertaining and you can really step out of your daily worries and just enjoy the ride. As an adult, you can enjoy the Disney aspects but then enjoy the amazing historic feeling of vintage sailing ships- around every corner there are surprises, artwork, a phenomenal spa, fitness room, art deco movie theater - so much that isn’t “Disney” forward- but classy and top of the line. Don’t forget Palo ! it is phenomenal, excellent food, service, views, and the location of countless gorgeous proposals and celebrations. I’ve gone on many of the “adult” themed ships and cruise lines that you’ve mentioned often. In over 30 trips and destinations from Hawaii through the US, Caribbean and Europe i’ve encountered many who use an inexpensive cruise fare to act like hanging their local bar and every night is friday night. drinkers and smokers who can take over areas of the ships. They go from the shows to the bars to get toasted and then wander the hallways yelling for friends 🤦🏻♀️I love a party but enjoy yours without imposing on others. That really takes away some of the luxury of cruising. If I pay less for a balcony room only to have a large group partying in the room next to me every night- I rather save and enjoy the ambience. It all depends on what you want from a cruise trip. Enjoy your cruises and be well.
I've been contemplating going on a Disney cruise for a few years, but I was always sticker shocked when I looked. I'm glad I saw your review, and I thank you for it. You just saved me a lot of money as it isn't for me. As I got older I started to get emotional a lot more, and it's embarrassing. I also like the option of a casino for fun when there isn't a good show going on. I worked for Disney for a little over a year, and emotion and inspiration is the core of their business success and they do it very well. Marvel day looked awesome, but there's Comicon for that. THANK YOU for the honest review!
Disney cruises are lots of fun. The food isn't great but there is great entertainment, etc. Unless you or your kids are big Disney fans, I'd skip and go on Princess, etc. for much less money.
Ah Tony! You are an awesome guy. My daughter, husband and I went on the Disney Dream about 10 years ago. I still remember tearing up and inwardly shouting “I believe “ during that Peter Pan show too. I spent a great deal of time bouncing from being very impressed or emotionally touched. As a misfit in life myself too, I felt like I was welcomed and accepted every step of the way. I could talk about this much longer, but I wanted to tell you you’re in a good club. Like in the “land of misfit toys”, we’re not alone! Glad the “feels” got you. Cleansing!
Tony, I loved the revue! It’s what I have tried to tell people that are considering a DCL “experience”. Yes, it is more than a generic cruise. Disney tells stories, they transport you emotionally to different places and they do it masterfully. It’s not accidental as it is in the DNA of every Disney project I have worked on either on land or at sea. That being said, I have always told people that it’s essential for a Disney fan that wants a longer and more immersive experience then they could get in the parks but otherwise it’s not for everyone. I likewise love the broadway shows and other production packages on RCI and other ships. I was a guest entertainer on many ships when I was coming up in the business so I get that. I will also admit to being a Disney fan of sorts and do love them extra magic they bring when I can afford it. Thank you for allowing yourself to try it and see a little of the special qualities it brings to some people.
That’s the Disney magic. That’s how they hook ya. It takes you to a better time and place. That nostalgia is powerful especially after the last couple years we’ve had.
The Disney "magic" is real! I started crying too when Mickey and Minnie came out on stage. I couldn't help it. I choked up listening to you about the Stan Lee part. I haven't seen that show yet.
This is the best cruise review in my opinion that you have given Tony. It’s honest, its thought provoking, it’s great advise regarding who should consider cruising Disney and who should not. I also liked how you worded the cruise pricing aspect. You get a good deal, you get what you pay for. Disney cruises is pricey. Disney cruises may not be what a cruiser wants to pay but that is up to the cruiser. So people should not complain about the price. But rather, choose another cruise line. You always handle the obvious very kindly. Thanks again!
I toured a DCL ship as a travel agent. They show you around then treat you to lunch. The ship was definitely impressive. I loved the Cadillac Lounge and the Animator's Palette (I think it was called). I loved the fanfare as guests board and are introduced. The rooms were impeccable. I loved the seats built into the windows and in the suites the fancy woodwork with marquetry was pristine with no scratches on this decades-old ship. On these tours, of which I've been on more than a dozen, the cruise lines serve amazing food and your choice of house wine. Disney's food was so-so. Very child-oriented choices although we were all adults, and no wine. The worst part for me was as the day went on and more families boarded, the noise level skyrocketed. We were so glad to disembark and leave the screaming children. I was surprised you didn't mention that. And so much for adult-only areas. A kid was yelling and running around as they showed us the "adult" pool. Also, the kids club looked nice but the reviews online were awful. Our host boasted that guests will see movies that are currently still in theaters for ABSOLUTELY FREE in their theater. For the fares they charge, that didn't seem particularly generous. However, despite my criticism, I would wholeheartedly recommend it for a family, and it's a much better value than a couple of days in the parks.
I am with you, Tony. So glad you did the cruise to confirm what I have thought all along. Disney cruise would not be worth the price for me. Thanks again.
Tony. You hit the mark! I'm a big bawl baby too. McFarland was a tear jerker. all of those shows would take me back to when my 20 something kids were little, so yeah I'm with you. From an old blubbering fool, to a young blubbering pup like you, preach it brother, preach it! 🤣
It’s always hits miss Tony. I cry at the sail away party, the shows, etc. you hit the mail on the head, it’s great for us that love the parks but not the crowds and love great entertainment and love Disney. It’s not for all people. Any cruise is a great cruise 😊
Having been on 4 Disney cruises (as well as 5 other cruise lines), I think you hit the nail on the head with your assessment of who Disney is for. My husband and I are older, no kids, but we like Disney and thoroughly enjoy watching the kids on the cruise when they interact with characters. I, too, get emotional at times. I feel that EVERYONE is happy, we’ve encountered many grumps on other cruise lines, which I’ll never understand. Marvel day at sea wouldn’t be for me, but I’d fine other things to do. Keep cruising, we love the way you present your info.
First of all, so proud of you for the 5k Tony! We are a family of 4. Our 'kids' are now young adults and we LOVE Disney! Their first cruise in 2013 (at that time 9 and 12) was a Disney cruise. Our last trip (Oct 2021) was to Disney World. They have been on NCL and Carnival since then and we all agree we wouldn't do a Disney cruise again. We cruise for the cruising experience. We go to Disney World for the Disney experience. We did not feel 'immersed in Disney' on the cruise. Yes, there is Disney theme everywhere, but not the same 'magic' as at the Parks at all. We also thought the food was much better on the other lines. The cost difference does not make Disney worth it, in our opinion. Hubby and I have also done several RCL cruises and that's what the kids want to try - so we are going on Oasis in April!
We love RC. We said again in May on Symphony of the Sea. The oasis class ships are great. Broadway shows, aqua theatre, zip line, rock climbing, laser tag, escape room, lots of restaurants and bars. We enjoy getting a balcony cabin overlooking the Boardwalk so we can sit on our balcony and watch the Aqua Shows whenever they are on. I think you and your family will really enjoy the cruise. Have a great time!
@@jenashe You will be very happy I think. When you close the balcony doors there is no noise from the Boardwalk and even when on your balcony it isn’t loud at all, and like I said it was fun to watch the Aqua shows from there. I also enjoy the zip line they have it isn’t very long but still fun. Some of the ships also have a escape room (it might be extra but not much) and also laser tag. You and your family will have a great time. Hope you have beautiful weather and some of the tests and such have eased up by then. Happy cruising!!!
Hi Tony, nailed it, Disney cruises aren't for everyone, but for those who are fans of the brand and willing to pay the premium for all that stands for it's right up their alley. You also nailed why many Disney die hards are so emphatic about the brand. It's the emotional connection I get that connects me to my childhood, and those fleeting moments where they make me forget that I'm an adult. The other thing Disney fans historically have loved about Disney parks and Experiences is the premium level of quality and customer service they provide and is driven by the cast members and the types of people they hire. I say historically because some of that has eroded in recent years at the parks... but for those that remember the level of service at the parks in the 90s... alive and well on DCL. All that said, I love the other cruise experiences I've had just as much and for different reasons. Big fan of the atmosphere, quality, and fun vibe Royal Caribbean creates.
This is the first time I’ve heard someone say how emotional they got on a Disney cruise and I relate to that. Now I feel like I’m in good company. I cry at everything on a Disney cruise and I’ve been on all but the wish. Thank you for sharing… 😊
Tony, you are always a Beacon of Positivity !! A person with Heart and Empathy , only Natural to be emotional , tearing up reacting to human connections , whether personal or presented to you . Congrats on the 151K subscribers !! 👍🏻👍🏻 Way To Go !!
Haven't done a Disney cruise however took our granddaughter to Disney World a few years ago & it possibly was one of my best travel experiences ever- it's magical!
I went on my first Disney Cruise with my son and daughter-in-law. They had a bet as to how many times I would cry on the ship. My son said 7 times and my daughter in law said 9. I cried at least 30 plus times but they were all happy Disney tears. I cried when they announced our name when we boarded the ship, I cried when they blew the horns, I cried when I saw Mickey and Minnie. It was one big cry fest for me and I’m 60 years old. Thank you for your honest review of your Disney experience. I’m hoping to experience another cruise line and I’m hoping you and Jenny will be on the cruise I go on. You guys are great♥️♥️
Ok, I could never ever see myself on a Disney cruise. But, I thoroughly enjoy watching other folks really have fun and appreciate it! Glad you kept an open mind and tried out DCL, Tony!👍👍
I agree with you about the cruise, nostalgia and everything else about the cruise. I am 55 and have a Disney pass with the rest of my family. Not that I'm an over- the- top fan, but because my family has them and I go to spend time together. The reason is being with family, including adult children. It takes me back to my childhood and being there with my parents. Disney cruises do it right for the true Disney fan. But for the cost, it's RC for me.
Love this review! I'm a Disney World annual pass member for all the reasons you list . Love the shows, and rides but mostly the entire environment that Disney creates and the children's/adults responses to it. You have convinced me that (as a Cruise Addict) I NEED to go on a Disney cruise.
You are not alone. Never been on a Disney Cruise, but DO get emotional over various memories, especially since my siblings and parents are all gone. Memories bring happiness, but can also bring sadness…❤️
So we went on Royal Caribbean (first Anthem, then Oasis) and Princess, after 5 Disney cruises. We are huge Disney fans and loved DCL. The bigger ships have more modern facilities and we overall preferred them… Decided to try Royal and what do you know, turns out we also loved it! For us, the 2 things that stood out on Disney was actually the “included” food, and service. Food was good on Royal, but imo Disney was much better in the MDR and the buffet. Service was great on Royal, but always felt Disney went above and beyond, each time. We’ve never had so-so service on Disney, but we did have “meh” service on Royal. When we went on the Oasis post refurbishment, we felt their rooms lacked, big time, even comparing it to the older Disney ships. However. We did decide, for us Disney was not worth paying double for, after experiencing it a few times. Once? Absolutely. We also decided that we just love CRUISING and we can cruise on other lines and get our Disney fix in the parks. We love Disney entertainment, but I have to say Oasis class entertainment blew us away. We are booked on the Disney Wish to try it, but before that we are booked on Harmony and Odyssey.
@@brandichavez9934 Thank you! We go in April, can’t wait. We have gone on the Oasis and loved everything but the rooms (lack of storage) and I understand the rooms on the Harmony are great!
Lost my Dad when I was 7… it’s a seed that stays with ya… movies get me in the feels regularly…no matter how much therapy !!! It’s sentimental and nostalgic and a bit of … in the movies they always get to see their dad as a ghost or something… giving them some closure … heck think I’ve been cutting onions again !!! Not a Disney fan, more sci-fi … but Disney are in for making memories I guess and sounds like they’ve got that to a T
Thank you for this review. I was waiting to watch it. Definitely helped me know that I should not go. I'm not a huge Disney fan. I actually went to Disney and left saying I don't need to do this again for a long time. I love cruising and I'll stick to the other lines. I'll let Disney be for the Disney fans at heart.
Great review. I agree, the food is just like any other line. I cruise for the destination first, ship second. However, if my vacation goal is to relax and be in immersed in Disney I’ll cruise Disney. Disney has my heart.
As a long time DisNerd my family loves all things Disney - We always get emotional when it comes to Disney. The Final "C Ya Real Soon" make us all cry. Well done Tony!
This might be is your best ship review ever, Tony! Thanks for bring so real about the emotions you felt on this cruise. I think your assessment was spot on. Anyone considering Disney should watch this.
Thank you for being real with your review. I've only cruised twice in my 50 years and I've only been to Disney about three or four times. I also cry very easily. During the parade(?) funeral (?) post-funeral (?) scene during the Broadway production of The Lion King I cried like a 40-year old baby. When the characters came walking through the seats, I was done.
I am a super emotional person , specially when reminded of the great memories I have. I might boo-boo cry once in a while 😭👶. That said , Disney is not for me but I appreciate that you accepted the assignment and for your honest review 🚢⚓️
The tears are what I would say for me is the reality that I am not young anymore, and I miss the days of simpler times and Disney brings those memories back to us. That and watching my daughter experience the same emotions that I had my first time going to Disney and realizing how my parents felt seeing my joy.
Great review; I’m a huge Disney fan and will be going on my 9th DCL (Hawai’i) in April (2nd cruise without kids), but I really appreciate your well-balanced and honest review and I think all of your points are on-target. FYI - I cry all the time on a DCL cruise, but especially on disembarkation LOL! Glad it was a good one for you, even if it was one-and-done.
Well I am glad you brought us some news about your Disney Cruise. I would love to take one, one day. Now, I do love the fact they have two bathrooms. I wish other cruises have the same. I am surprise they have soda for a dinner treat. In my mind I said, "They should for the price of the cruise." Lastly, it is always a good thing to experience a good emotion. It does give out a happy feeling. Sometimes we need that in our lives. I am glad you made it home safely! Thanks for sharing!
I have never been on a Disney cruise, but I get teary-eyed happy every time I get to Disney world. I enjoy Disney even more with my adult children as I did when they were young. After seeing your review I will definitely book a Disney cruise.
Having worked for Disney, I understand the emotion. There is a reason they call it the “happiest place on earth”. It is very hard to be sad, lonely, or depressed when I am at Disney. Everything is so magical. However, you are right, waiting in a Que sucks, as does going to the Magic Kingdom when it is at capacity and everywhere you look it is a sea of strollers. My two favorite parks are Disney Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Anyway, my hubby and I have a Disney Cruise on our bucket list. Probably when the new Disney Wish comes out. You did look awfully happy and excited. Glad you had fun, even if you don’t plan on going again.
Tony, really enjoyed this review and your perspective! I’m so glad you finally got to experience a Disney cruise and all of the magic and emotion that comes with it. We certainly agree that the nostalgia and emotions are a part of cruising with Disney. We can’t wait to try Princess this summer and have a new experience on a new line!
I must agree about Disney Magic as seen from a child's eyes. There is nothing that compares to the first time a child is emersed in Disney Magic...theme park, cruise, etc. It's a beautiful thing!
Thank you for such an honest and genuine review. I found myself in a similar place when we did our first Disney cruise back in October. I literally screamed THANK YOU at the tv when you mentioned the food! 🤣. Nothing wrong with it. Just nothing special. We would consider 1 more Disney cruise to sail to Castaway Cay, but only if we can go off season when it only costs 2x instead of 3x.
You described the Disney Cruise experience perfectly. I AM a Disney fan (not an all-out fan, but we love it) so we loved it! And yes… I got emotional many times and cried. 🥺😅
Wow, Tony! Even though I am not a cruiser, I follow your vlogs. This one includes more content , insight and information that I have ever gleaned from a most any vlog that I follow. You touched upon every aspect possible. I believe that this is a “ must watch” for anyone contemplating a Disney cruise. The fact that you emphasized how emotionally touched you were by certain aspects of the cruise was exceptional and most endearing. Let me comment that you are looking healthier than ever and that your exuberance and energy may have something to do with the new program that you are following. As a long-time RN, let me tell you that you are giving yourself the best gift. Stick with the program and you will add years and a continued better sense of well being to your life, as well as many more cruising experiences!!! Wishing you continued success and a great, big Bravo! on this fact-filled and enthusiastically- delivered production! To say that this cruise was cathartic for you would be an understatement. Disney brings out the kid in all of us, for sure. All the best 😘😎🌊
Great review.Went on a Disney cruise after my girlfriend’s son survived a car crash that claimed his fathers life. Fourteen of us went and it was my first cruise. My kids were 10 and 11. It was a cruise of life time. My kids are now 40and 41,they say it was the best vacation of their lives. We spent 3 days at Disney parks then cruised 4 days. This was my conversion cruise…I went home and sold my truck camper . I now cruise yearly and was truly sold on cruising as the way to vacation.
Marvel Day looked like a lot of fun, and I’m not even aMarvel fan! It was nice to see how much you were enjoying yourself and I can appreciate all the work that must have gone into it!
I got teary-eyed just listening to you... and I'm not sure I'm Disney enough for the cruise... It's another level to explain compassionately why fans *will* love it - even while it's not your thing. Great job, man! We love the heart you bring as well as, always, the humor, and the observations/analysis.
Tony, I have only ever cruised on Disney and I personally love. Taking my son and going with my brother and his family as our tradition. I guess it's that inner kid in me that will never grow up. I also love how you get treated but the cast members, the level of service, the atmosphere, food and more. It's my home away from home. Thank you for sharing your review.
Thank you for the great review of Disney cruising. I am the 70 year old kid that loves cruising with Disney. We have done 18 Disney cruises in the last 21 years and one more coming up in two weeks. I get immersed in the atmosphere and have been known to shed a tear or two. Absolutely Disney Cruise is expensive but you do get your money’s worth. It is a great experience. Having said that we started cruising on RCL about three years ago mainly because we could cruise three times or more for the price of one Disney cruise. We love cruising and will cruise Disney again but between those cruises we will cruise RCL several times because of the cost. Again thanks for the great review! You did look like you had a great time. Excelsior!
This was a good review, and thanks for being so honest about pricing and what to expect. I do not think Disney is for me. This style of review is great please do this on other cruise ships.
Man, since my first dose of magic my emotions have gone off the rails. Even to a point I’ve taken a job as a CM so I can raise my son “in the magic.” They know what they’re doing for sure. Great video as always, Tony!
I took my 12 year old neighbor on a 3 day Disney cruise. She cried on stage at the kid’s club graduation because she didn’t want to leave. I cried watching the ceremony. Very emotional and worth every penny.
Disney does a great job of wrapping you up in the World of Disney. It isn't something I enjoy, but some members of my family do enjoy it. I agree you can get your enjoyment through them.
It is very emotional for me to just hear the ship horns and be introduced. I love the experience so much more 💗 than the parks. DCL is my favorite And I have also cruised Princess.
100% correct. I've only been on 3 cruises. The first was in 2004 on Royal Caribbean and it was great. My wife and I loved the food but we sometimes had trouble filling our time. Neither of us knows how to relax so simply basking in the sun next to the pool is not an option. Plus, we'd both fry to a crisp. Anyway, the entertainment was good but some of it was a little too adult, especially some of the games. The food was everything that we expected and we got along fine with our fellow table mates. Jump to 2017 and we took our first Disney cruise. Having grown up in the shadow of the Matterhorn, I've always loved Disney. I had friends who worked there so we went frequently. My wife didn't grow up near Disneyland and went only a couple of times before we met but she loves Disney too. We loved the Disney cruise and our kids loved it too. We had five of our six with us on that trip. We were blown away by the experience. Yes, I tear up during some of the shows. Nobody out does Disney for solid family entertainment when they do it well, which is most of the time. In 2019, we took a four day cruise with our six kids and a fiancé. The cost was astronomical but it was worth every penny. We way over tipped our waiters and room attendants because the service was worth it and we know that they come from much humbler backgrounds than we do. We've got a third Disney cruise planned this fall but not sure that we'll go and not for the reasons you're probably thinking. For us, the crazy price is completely worth it but it's not going to be the same for everyone. You have to love what Disney is or I don't think that you'll feel like you got your money's worth so again, this video is a perfect explanation of the pros and cons of a Disney cruise.
That's the magic of Disney. I cried during the Peter Pan live show on the cruise. The song reminded me of when I was a child Also seeing the kids meet the princesses, was so sweet and priceless
Hi Tony, My wife and I know exactly what your are saying. We have sailed on Disney Cruise Line 7 times. But, we had our granddaughter with us all of the time. And, it was a blast. But, we have also sailed on the Oasis of the Seas 2 times, by ourselves and we loved it!!! In our opinion, the food on Disney is good, but we really enjoyed the food on the Oasis. We agree, if you are a disney fan then a Disney cruise is for you. My wife and I are loyal Loca followeres, have been for sometime now. We enjoy all of your Cruise News shows. Keep them coming. Say hi to Jenni for us. Donna And David from Lakeland.
Great review Tony! I have sailed many lines, but have sailed primarily DCL in the last 10 years (with mostly adult only traveling partners) for many of the reasons you talk about. I am a Disney fan and the cruises give me that fix without the hassles, planning and crowds that are a constant with a parks vacation. I am fine with no casino and, for me, there is enough adult entertainment and activities that we always have a great time. After 20+ cruises, I totally agree about the food. The MDR offerings are not fantastic. What the food lacks in excitement, the restaurants provide with ambiance and entertainment. We would love to see the menus change more often, but the service teams and the restaurant theming is fantastic. Would I sail another line again? Absolutely. But you hit the nail on the head.....if you're not a Disney fan, it's likely not going to be worth the premium to sail Disney. Thanks for giving Disney a chance and for such a candid review that was not only focused on cost, but experience.
I'm not a big Disney park person however the child in me does love the movies. I have to say each time I go to Universal I cry upon entering because we were poor when I was growing up and the child in me gets all kinds of happy when we go, so I understand you when you said a few things "hit you in your feels" Tony. My husband thinks I'm nuts when I show him the tears while laughing at the same time. I find it very nice that a grown man shares that stuff!!
I was 69 when I took my first Disney Cruise. I too was on the Magic.. Within minutes I was in childlike wonder. The Grand Finale of Dinner in Animator's Pallette got my tear ducks gushing. When Mickey came out and the otherwise black and white motif exploded into color I just couldn't contain myself.
I had to rewind quickly and pause at the beginning because that’s our cabin door in your video! Made me happy! We agree with the emotions. My husband never cries…and he cried. Disney gets you! Thanks for your videos. I’ve been watching for updates leading up to our cruise, but in finding myself still watching. Thank you!
Congrats on the 5k, it ain’t easy when you’re out of shape. The last one I did on their island I regretted so many life decisions. We’re huge Disney fans, and have only sailed Carnival a number of times before we had kids. I really appreciate the insight and perspective you provided. We may need to give RCCL a try at some point.
You’re not alone, Tony. I’m not a crier, but man, I got teary many times on my Disney cruise. I think it’s the nostalgia factor. I have sailed Carnival and RC. My experience on the Wonder did have the best cruise food to me. I agree with your synopsis about who it’s for.
I don’t know about you seeming “happier” on this cruise but your excitement and enthusiasm on Marvel day was greater than I can ever remember seeing from you before😉
Just a little fan-excited 😉
Tony was definitely nerding out on Marvel Day, but who can blame him?
Disney is in the fabric of our culture it’s 100 years of the best storytelling.. good guys vs bad guys. Princess and prince. A hero and a mouse.
You are right.
I agree so much with this.
I actually go solo on Disney cruises 😂
@@danasandoval624 I heard all those activities on RC were extra charges though. That sucks.
Yes! We cruise Disney with our kids, but without them, we can choose another line.
Just don’t know
As a Disney only cruiser, I thought your review was great! I agree with so much of your commentary about who should and shouldn't go. Glad you enjoyed it. But let's face it, no other cruise line's room service will deliver those iconic Mickey bars anytime day or night 😉😉
Thank you for an honest review. Most unbiased Disney review I’ve seen to date.
- Zach
Yes!!!!!
100%
Nostalgia, story telling, happy kids, etc…
It’s what people call Magic.
The experience is unmatched.
Love a man who admits he can cry.
And the fireworks!!!
Yup, Disney has a way of doing that.
@@mindyschocolate they sure do! 😁
@@CBar-rd6im Always with the fireworks!
I love this! My thoughts exactly. Isn’t for me either, but totally get who it’s for. 🥳❤️
Love Encanto! 😎👌🏼
@@EmmaCruises Shhh, we don't talk about Bruno!
I totally agree with you Tony.
We have no desire to go on a Disney cruise.
You described why I am so connected to Disney. I cry when I walk into the parks. I am so excited for my Disney cruise.
The emotion is why I love Disney. It’s where my greatest family memories were made. And fir that, it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I appreciate that! Thank you 😊
Aaaah, Tony - you did a wonderful job describing your experiences! Enjoyed hearing about your emotional connections!! You also did a great job describing the types of people that Disney cruises may or may not be a good fit for.
I have to agree. Cruising for me = a good dinner, a good show, and beautiful ocean/island scenery. Everything else is a bonus.
I absolutely 100% agree with your review I would not pay the extra money to go on Disney I love Princess and Carnival
Did you go on Disney first?
I have been on the fence waiting for Tony’s review. Long time Disney Passholders 7 years until c19. After watching all of the Disney characters and nonstop Disney I was like nope that is definitely not for me. How do I booked and gone on one I would’ve been very disappointed.
So it pretty much what I expected. I think I’ll stick to Royal Caribbean and my first love Symphony of the Seas.
Pre covid the food was amazing. Cruised in December the food was so so at best.
As an adult, you can enjoy the Disney aspects but then enjoy the amazing historic feeling of vintage sailing ships- around every corner there are surprises, artwork, a phenomenal spa, fitness room, art deco movie theater
- so much that isn’t “Disney” forward- but classy and top of the line.
Lol that show, Disney Dreams, was great. My favorite part of the cruise
Lol @ “It’s dang emotional.”
My dear Tony. THAT is the MAGIC! ✨
Your emotion is amazing! You really put your heart into this Disney cruise. Love it!
Dee and Jay said you got a little choked up and they had a blast with you and you all sharing the first time experience together.
Good choice. They will love it.
@@danasandoval624 that is the room type we have x2!
Harmony is amazing! My favorite ship so far. Have fun.
I don't think you were happier on the cruise I think you let the inner child out😁
This might be is your best ship review ever, Tony! Thanks for bring so real about the emotions you felt on this cruise. I think your assessment was spot on. Anyone considering Disney should watch this.
Prescious moments when we can feel our humanity.
You’re not alone! It’s emotional to me too. It brings me back to happier times too.
Thanks guys! Appreciate your insight pre cruise!
The barbecue on Disney island Castaway Caye is FABULOUS !!!
I got teary-eyed just listening to you... and I'm not sure I'm Disney enough for the cruise... It's another level to explain compassionately why fans *will* love it - even while it's not your thing. Great job, man! We love the heart you bring as well as, always, the humor, and the observations/analysis.
For sure I was so emtional and everytime I think about it it's just the best cruise I've ever been on
Tony, I have only ever cruised on Disney and I personally love.
I think you nailed it in describing the Disney cruise experience. Great job and welcome back!
That's the magic of Disney. I cried during the Peter Pan live show on the cruise. The song reminded me of when I was a child
Also seeing the kids meet the princesses, was so sweet and priceless
Enjoyed your experience on board Disney cruise.
