Was on a cruise in September and there was a group of 6 people trying to save seats for 40 people, yes 40..I was like no way I seeing in this row of empty seats...smh
Not just a cruise ship issue. I was recently at a comedy show and one of the comics actually went to the table of people who were just so loud no one could hear him. IMO, too many people have forgotten how to behave in public or were never taught.
Two weeks ago I was on the harmony of the seas, watching the ice skating show I was in the wheelchair section, and the lady pulled up right behind me with not much room to see between us all and just talked and talked and talked. Drove me crazy.
I personally just LOVE when people at a show repeatedly text, post, etc. during the show. It just warms the cockles of my heart to know that those young folks are able to share with the world, right in the middle of a show, the mundane details of their lives. Because, you know, the world won't be right until EVERYONE knows what type of breakfast cereal they had that morning. Each time those screens light up, and I reflexively divert my attention from the performance, my eyes well up with tears of joy in the knowledge that their existence is far more important than the existence of the other 2,000 people in the audience, or at least they sadly believe so...
A longtime ago during a show on the Oasis of the Seas I had the pleasure to tell two 20 something women to “shut the Frell up or leave!” They’d been critical of the show for two songs. And I couldn’t take it anymore. When they loudly protested most of the surrounding people said I was right. They left and it was a great show.
This morning we had breakfast in the main dining room. Our speed is based on staff and kitchen speed. By the time we finished breakfast (which we started with plenty of time before the captain’s talk) made us late. Life went on. Most people who complain about others saving seats do exactly the same thing. It’s only wrong when others do it. Are you saying you can’t save a seat for your wife who had to use the ladies room? Your perfection in your own mind is showing.
I believe that saving a seat for perhaps a couple that is with you is ok. Everyone seems respectful in my experience of a couple of saved seats. It's just when it's like I mentioned in another post here, people who save 20 seats is a problem.
Worst I had in a show was a "gentleman " behind me put his bare foot on both of my armrests. I politely asked him 3 times to remove them. The 4th time I told him he should request a wheelchair because of his two broken feet. Never saw those feet again.
We enjoy the shows so much and been in the position it is sad and very rude also it is good to get their on time we do eat at the early so we can get to the early show that is the best part of the cruise
Hi Tony. Happy Saturday. I 100% agree with you. I had 4 people behind me during a show who would not stop talking and laughing at each other's jokes. I finally turned around and just looked them in the eye. I didn't say anything, just looked for about 1 solid minute. Shook my head and turned around. They were quiet after that. Love the singing today. As always thank you for all you do ❤
@@BostonHeatherthe reason I just gave them a look was because they were young adults who knew better. I gave them the mother/grandmother look. (Yes , I'm that old). It was fine after that. Didn't see a need to add my voice.

when a parent doesn't notice or care that their child is screaming throughout the performance and doesn't quietly duck out of the show instead they make everybody else deal with it. That entitlement drives me nuts.
My husband and I rarely go to the shows anymore, but decided to watch one. Two women next to me talked constantly even after I asked them twice to please be quiet so we could hear the show. They just looked at me and went on talking. At the same show the person sitting behind my husband kept kicking his chair. We finally gave up and left.
i've been meaning to say this before but...i knew you had sung in a school chorus/choir before you told us...i had noticed that you have a pleasant vibrato, you stay on pitch, and have a lovely deep baritone voice...your singing on this post confirms my observations...please sing on and on
We cruise Oceania…they do not allow recording of shows. Several times people have their cellphones out checking emails, making recordings, and playing games. One particular night a lady directly in front of us was playing games on her phone. Everyone around us was irritated with the lights and even sounds. Halfway into the show, I could no longer stand it and tapped her on the shoulder and asked her to stop. Fortunately, she did so and wasn’t too angry. The sad thing was we had seen her do the same a night or two before this show. Many times we have seen the same passengers come into the shows late, um, do they think they are special?
We had a family sitting behind us at a Jersey Boys show and one of them spent the entire show translating it for the rest of their party, It drove me insane but luckily we were able to see the show again later in the week.
I really am discussed when people take more than they will eat in the buffet. Just take a sampling to try then go back for more if you liked it! Always enjoy your videos.
The best way to have a chance of shutting people up at the shows from the start is for all cruise lines to make an announcement to please remain quiet for the entirety of the show so everyone can hear the performers.
Great content today. On our last cruise there was a women sitting in front of us that turned her cell phone on after the lights dimmed and the show started. After a few minutes of having the glare in our face I gently tapped her on the shoulder and asked her to please turn off her phone as the glare was annoying the people sitting around her. To her credit she did turn off the phone but her husband didn't seem pleased with me. At another show that was a musical there was a lady that would stand up and dance when there was a song. After the show the man sitting behind her said something to her and they had a heated conversation. I don't like confrontation but this type of disrespect is very annoying.
I appreciate & respect you for believing in not repaying evil with evil. Too many people would have argued or aggravated that person behind you. Unfortunate for me I have a close family member that would have behaved badly. I’ve learned to just not do certain activities with him. Your actions speak for the kind of man you are. 🙏❤️
I love watching your show since I get good laughs & I enjoy your singing, you do have a great voice. Your show is unique & that's why you are top of the cruise news position.
You have a wonderful singing voice! I appreciate those who are blessed with that as I am one of those who has people rush in to save them when singing in the shower! (true story)
Hi Tony, from the Serenade of the Seas going to cross the canal, will end up in LA. We had some people that did not shut up in Karaoke, I couldn’t help myself and hushed them, lack of respect galore!
I have had similar experiences in theatres trying to watch a movie. Seems like good manners and respect for others is something that is no longer kearned by kids. I am a bit surprised at this happeneing on a cruise ship, the passengers are usually a bit older than the norm and have a bit more life experience.
Hi Tony Barnett! Agree with you most of the time and 100% on the point of people talking during a show. I have pulled out my “third grade teacher” voice and my “mom glare” several times. The most memorable for me was a group of middle-aged adults sitting behind me who talked and laughed wildly at their own jokes the whole time. As the show ended, I told the patriarch of the group that they had ruined the experience for all those around him. He answered that he didn’t care about my enjoyment, only for his own. Well. I guess I was put in my place, eh?! 🤷♀️
On a Carnival cruise, we were at a show that had quite an involved story which I was totally transfixed by. Then some drunk two rows behind me stood up and started yelling " Rock and Roll! " (there was rock music being sung as part of the story} bringing me and several other people out of the moment and the story being told. I never wanted to punch someone in the face more than I did at the moment.
I usually watch the shows from my scooter. Really LOVE when people come in to a show in progress and proceed to stand in the small space available in front of me. When I ask them to move because they are blocking my view, they’re comeback is “Oh I didn’t see you”😂
Great topic!! I found on Royal that the disruptive ones were the suite saved Genie passengers! They come late due to saved seats in front, talk and leave early!! We had someone at the ice show, put her cell camera light on to video the show, behind us- blinded us and husband told us to chill!! Really???

At an ice skate show, before it started, 2 people tried to reserve an entire row of like 20 seats. We were sitting on a bar stool behind the row (after we were told they were saved seats) and after seeing 10 different people trying to sit in the row and being told they were saved seats, I started telling people to just go sit down on that row, which they did. Turns out, their "party" didn't arrive til after the show started and the 2 seat savers left in a huff. I think the best thing would be is to just say excuse me and step across them and sit down in "their" row.
Yea, you covered it pretty good here. Coming late is the most obtrusive methinks. Even if ducking, it still takes focus away from the performance, and probably even for the performers on stage [as you mention]. It's ok to arrive late...but sit at the very back or even STAND! Ha, I think about you [and Don even] when I see late arrivers. I say to myself, "Tony and Don would have a field day"...LOL.
Did the Quest on Adventure OTS and the people in front of us that brought tote bags full of stuff, one of them got selected and they pretty much used what they brought with them and didn't let anyone else help
I have been VERY lucky. In all of my roughly 60 cruises, the worst thing to have happened was a couple of times people tried to get to a center row seat where their friends/spouse/SO was holding a seat for them. But these happened early in the performance and the rest was distraction free. Also, I rarely attend the large production shows. They're just not my thing.
Hi Tony... Here is a thing that happened in the theater on two different cruises. People carrying a slushy Pina colada spilling it before the show on the seat they were going to sit in. Instead of telling a crew member they just leave and sit in a different spot somebody comes along and sits in the mess ruining their show. I think whomever does this it's an accident they won't make you pay for the seat tell someone.
My biggest pet peeve at concerts when people singing when not asked by the artist, you can't hear the band you came to see after spending all that money, instead you pay to hear this dog howling😂
We were onthe Allure watching a show. We were almost the back row and people waiting for the next show came in the theatre and began talking 😡 we gave a couple of “Shhhhh’s” but it made no difference at all. Also when the show ended and we tried to exit, it was very hard to get through the crowd waiting for the next show. Very frustrating.
If there's a heckler at a comedy show, I always root for the comedian. We've sat in the front row and the comedian has pointed to my husband, usually, and we just play along and have fun. Didn't get offended or upset. They came up after and thanked us for being good sports and bought us a drink.
🎉 unfortunately, there are a few people who seem to think that heckling is expected, and as part of the show, I think this is because there are indeed, a few comedians, who talk to different audience members, and take the heckling as part of their show. But there are fewer and fewer of that type of comedian, and most have set routines. I was shocked and annoyed one time when I went with my sister to a comedy show, and she started heckling the comedian and talking back-and-forth with him. I tried to shut her up without much success, and afterwards it turned out that she was convinced that that was part of the show and that people in the audience were supposed to add their own funny bits. I could not convince her of the error of her ways, and she wasn't even funny. I never went to another comedy show with her.... by the way, she was 50 years old...
Sometime the comedian ask questions to certain people that are sex related. That was the case with my grandson whom is autistic and also has brain cancer.i don't think that he realized that he was special needs person. I shut him down quickly and nicely .my grandson is 30 years old but didn't need to answer these personal questions. After the show he met us and i explained that we are not prudes and explained his situation. He couldn't have been kinder even giving my grandson a gift.all in all enjoyed his show!
Tony I wish more people were like you, I have always believed never return evil for evil, 2 wrongs don’t make a right. It’s so hard on cruises to not lose it sometimes. Good for you!
Able bodied people who sit in designated handicapped seats and people who wear to much (or any) purfume, there are many people who are allergic and can't sit next to someone wearing it for periods of time
not on a cruise, but I was back stage waiting on a actor in order to change his wig, when a lady in the front row pulled out a big bag of chips and started eating them very loudly, asking her friend if she wanted some. It was so loud we could hear it back stage. when the actors started complaining about the noise I had to search for one of the ushers to them to stop the lady. it was bizarre.
I can't always be on time for a show but I can go to the very back and stand if necessary to avoid bothering others. And when traveling I always turn off my flash and never use it. I get better photos.
I have been in many cruises and thankfully I have never encountered unruly people in the theater during a show, maybe because we always sit to the far side of the theater, we avoid the middle section. But if I ever do get someone disruptive I have no problem of asking them to shut up or leave.
Tony you are a gem. I enjoy your content and your character! I hope my husband and I have the pleasure of meeting you and your wife on a cruise in the future!
I have a theory that the people who are talking during the shows in the theaters are probably the same ones that talk during the muster drill. Love your content and keep up the great work. I think I was guilty of being one of the "bad" theater people because when I was on the meraviglia back in April I was using my cell phone not to talk but to take photos.
A few years ago, my lady bought tickets to Barry Manilow in Las Vegas, and the entire show was live-streamed by a lady in the row in front of us. My lady complained to one of the ushers, and the lady put the phone away…for about 30 seconds and went right back to filming.
My cruise just got canceled. Carnival Panorama’s engine failed. They canceled Mazatlan and Pueto Vallarta for the people on board. They canceled 4 cruises entirely. Ship on its way to Astoria, Oregon for repairs. Gotta find my next cruise now.
We sailed the NCL Bliss in January 2019 and loved the go carts onboard with one exception: Apparently there was one older guy in his 60’s who thought those were Bumper Cars instead and kept drilling everyone, including a 9 year old girl with her dad. After hitting me twice hard and my wife, I confronted the person in charge of it to complain about the man, then spent the next 20 minutes trying to find him to express my opinion on his driving. His luck I couldn’t find him, instead a friend of mine gave me a beverage and I calmed down. If you are sailing on NCL people, please remember that these are fun, not driving people into the rails.
I don't seem to mind someone coming in late, the biggest peeve for me is someone talking a few rows behind you and you can't seem to find an usher to shut them out. The movie theater I go to it always seems like the age range is 20s-30s lol.
Tony, you might add another annoyance. Person sat behind you who is always kicking your seatback. This happened to me on Celebrity Millennium repositioning cruise recently. I got so mad, stood up, turned around and asked him what his problem was and tapped his leg. He got the message.
Great content.again today Tony. We were at a show on the Celebration last week when a woman in a scooter ran over the toe of an elderly lady who was hurt by the incident. This not only caused her pain but disrupted the entire section. I understand some guests need assistance with mobility, but please be cautious and courteous of those around you, especially in tight spaces such as the theatre.
Unfortunately, a number of cart and wheelchair users feel a sense of entitlement over others. Not all mind you, but enough to make it unsafe as in the time when we were out during Hurricane Sandy.
Just got off an 8 day on the Carnival Dream. Man you can tell they cut back on staffing numbers. Was faster to eat in MDR than the buffet. Empty or OFF drink stations everywhere. We prefer buffet but 30-40 min wait every meal got old by day 3
How about a big old pile of likes for this show!!!!! Great topic. Going on Caribbean Princess Dec 3, looking forward to the shows!! Thanks again for a great episode!!

Amen, Tony
Got so caught up looking at scent bird that I had to come back and watch the show again!!! 🎉Thanks for the discount code Tony B!!!
Smell ya later Chuck! :)
Able bodied people who sit in designated handicapped seats and people who wear to much (or any) purfume, there are many people who are allergic and can't sit next to someone wearing it for periods of time
I get migraine when there is too much perfume around
Often in the elevators on "dress days" to be found
Disgusting!
not on a cruise, but I was back stage waiting on a actor in order to change his wig, when a lady in the front row pulled out a big bag of chips and started eating them very loudly, asking her friend if she wanted some. It was so loud we could hear it back stage. when the actors started complaining about the noise I had to search for one of the ushers to them to stop the lady. it was bizarre.
Shout out Luda!
That is exactly the way we are watching the shows
Tony you are a gem.
Spot on, old chum. I cannot stand ppl who are late and many are old and should know better! I have low tolerance.
As an old person I think it's younger people 😊
It is all ages.
sad, but true
We had a crop duster clear out half a section.
A few years ago, my lady bought tickets to Barry Manilow in Las Vegas, and the entire show was live-streamed by a lady in the row in front of us. My lady complained to one of the ushers, and the lady put the phone away…for about 30 seconds and went right back to filming.
Solid list. Thank you for sharing.
Other people ruin everything.
😂
My pet peeve at a show is when parents bring small children who have no interest in watching, but instead they jump yell run tug at your chair etc.
Always appreciate some Verdi Requiem…. by Ludacris.
Tony, you might add another annoyance. Person sat behind you who is always kicking your seatback. This happened to me on Celebrity Millennium repositioning cruise recently. I got so mad, stood up, turned around and asked him what his problem was and tapped his leg. He got the message.
You could have asked him politely to stop. That might have worked too.
@@B-ch6uk don’t cruise much do you!
@@Masterchief68 I cruise quite often if you must know. I just think if you ask politely people tend to listen.
@@B-ch6uk Polite people don't kick seat backs. It's pretty strange to defend this.
You should just do a concert for us!!
😮 I do apologize, I am in a wheelchair. I thought there was room. That's why I go early so that I don't get in the way of others.
It's so funny that people go to comedy shows who can't take a joke and then get upset lolol
Tony, singing from the Dies Irae. The day of wrath and doom is coming!
