I lost my husband of 57 years three years ago and thought my cruising days were over. At 75 I never even considered it until people on a Facebook cruise page encouraged me to go solo. Last May I took the plunge and took my first solo cruise to Alaska. I loved it. I went on another cruise in December with my daughter and it was great. I now have another solo cruise booked for next December. Can’t wait.
@@chrissandblast5010 so sorry to hear about your husband but I am really proud of the fact that you took the leap of solo traveling and love it. Don’t let anyone dim your light! I know of a viewer who lost her husband on an excursion in Antarctica. It took her a little while but she recognized it was his spirit of adventure and love of exploration that made their lives to enriched. So she began solo traveling and cruising in his memory and is so happy she did. Have fun on your next cruise!

I've been on a number of cruises as a solo in a group situation. This year I start solo cruising again - up the Queensland coast on Crown Princess from sunny Sydney in Australia. I live in Brisbane. Next year further afield for longer cruises :)
The only way to make solo travels better (for me anyway) would be to have a companion… but we all have our reasons that isn’t an option. It’s better to enjoy life alone, than not at all.
@@Bum_Hip I used to feel that way until I had to keep canceling last minute because the companion couldn’t go for some reason. That was when I made the decision, life is too short, I want to explore and enjoy. And now I’ve come to a place where I prefer traveling solo and really appreciate the alone time.
@@billjones4986 hey there. I have been able to cruise solo on Princess a lot and they give double loyalty credit for paying standard double rate. Since they don’t do single cabins, it’s a decent trade off in my eyes.
@@SoloCruiseTravel Royal Caribbean does the same thing. They charge solo travelers double supplement but give double Crown & Anchor Credit for solo travelers. Still, I’m sticking with Norwegian in 2025.
Single mom here who’s been traveling with my son since he was 2. He’s off to college in two years, so I’ve been studying up on solo travel and can’t wait! My biggest worry is paying the double fare for just me, as part of the appeal is only paying for my own fare. Love my kid- but he sure doesn’t pay his own way!
@ I’ve also found that sometimes the closer to a sail date you get the cruise line will drop reduce the double occupancy rate depending on inventory. Most lines have “drop and go” or “last minutes deals” sections.
@@Arohanui128 I don’t disagree that pricing has soared in general, but solo cabins are almost always sold out when I go browsing cruises anymore. The demand is there.

Unless the cruise companies lower prices many solo travelers are taking other options. Price per cabin is just too expensive
