J & M Mower in Pawtucket RI deals & sharpens reels. They specialize in Locke mowers mostly. What's your thoughts on the benefits of lime to balance ph? Thanks for time & great video's!
You seem like a nice person, so I will sugar coat this. I've watched some stinkers before, but this is up there. It's a damn good thing there's a pandemic and a quarantine... or You'd owe me 4 minutes of my life back.
I always thought reel mowers just had one horizontal blade that did the cutting and that the reel itself wasn't sharp or even needed to be sharp. Learned something new.
None of my Swardman reels were shipped with a rack like that. In fact, one of my 10 blade reels was shipped to me in a non-standard box with a bunch of pieces of styrofoam jammed in there, and the reel was rusty in spots.
Here's how to undo a couple bolts and put something in a box.... If u was looking for a video on that id be super satisfied with the last 4 minutes of my life.... Omg the ending is priceless
Man, you got me, thought you were going to do it your self. wanted to see this with a sander good "increase view count" hook! But, bad for the fact that you just showed how to send it to get sharpened.
You need a drill, a socket matching the reel axel nut, and some valve lapping compound. Run the reel backwards and brush the compound on. Tighten the bottom blade about 1/16 turn on the nuts... Just to put some positive pressure on the bed knife and reel... Then let the grit do it's work. Takes 5 minutes. Rinse it off. Test with paper strips, and you're done.
backlapping sharpens the bed knife and sets the cylinder to it..it does NOT sharpen the cylinder if it needs it and some are terrible and have not been looked after
And you got another down vote are you sure deceptive video descriptions are a good idea? And I probably don't even down vote one video a month haha congratulations.
We got a bit scared seeing the first seconds of the video :)
Haha 😁
Awesome .......now I know how to use the postal service!!!!!
Bro! You scared me with that sander on the thumbnail 😂
Hahaha mission accomplished!
How often would you say you have to do that to get a clean cut? Worried that $150 for the sharpening service will add up quick!

Can’t get any easier than that!
I know it's a new and expensive machine, so professional service is a good idea. But can you not just backlap it like you would a push reel mower?
I'm told this specific one can't be. Not all reels can be backlapped. I don't know why as I'm new to reels.
I feel so clickbaited hahaha
What does that service cost?

It's very easy to loose nuts, bolts, and screws in the grass. Next time I would do it your garage or driveway. JMO
Just use Multi-Sharp Cylinder Mower Sharpener
Nice heart attack with that thumbnail.
Third.... I guess?
How would you sharpen that thing own your own?
You need special equipment to sharpen a reel. All the blades need to be exactly the same.
Grass Daddy , that’s awesome you can send it off then. I can only imagine how hard it would be to try and balance that thing. 😩

Or you could just backlap it yourself and have it done in 30 minutes instead of 2 weeks.
Not every reel can be backlapped, and at some point you need to grind them all
