It's hard to choose "the best". Arturo, James Morrison, and Wynton (in no particular order) are all amazing in their own ways. Gods among men! If you search in RUclips for all three names you will see a video of them playing together a while back, it's real cool. For me Wynton wasn't about showing off but about really grooving and it was a sight to see
He is not only a skillfull, but a clever musician. And for this reason he recognizes the big debt towards the great, immortal, never forgotten Satchmo. Beloved Louis, if you look at us from your paradise, enjoy this heir of yours.
This one has that sweet/greasy/raspy New Orleans character to it, and Mr. Marsalis nails it on the playing style that's pure Satchmo. Very beautifully executed.
The way Louis Armstrong is honoured in this video deserves our full respect. Absolutely a super analysis of the person- and the musician Louis Armstrong was. Getgs: Thanks a lot for this video-film.
One of the best honoring one of the best, with a wonderful Crescent City shared heritage. Thank you Wynton and Louis for the joy you have shared with the world.
Wynton play is magical! The axe is an extension of his person. Marsalis is a walking note of sharing, teaching and respecting music. He tribute to Louis Armstrong is beautiful. Armstrong lay a foundation for the all. Oyea.
Im ashamed we were not raised to love Pops. Playing then listening I found Duke was influenced, Fatha Hines, Billy Holiday, Lester Young, Roy Eldridge and others before I really listened to Satchmo. Thank you Wynton for this and the older I get the more I love him. Mom always liked his singing! Dexter played with him. Satch plays Blues, Satch and Josh, Satch and Duke we saw. On TV.!
Being from New Orleans is such a blessing I myself came from a jazz family my grand uncle Danny Barker played the banjo he started me when i was a kid on I regret to this day I wish I would have stuck with it

I took trumpet lessons in High School, and caused great laughter at my playing. It gave me a great appreciation for the instrument, land the great players thereof. I never realized that only three keys (valves?) could be so challenging!
Albert and Charles were connoisseurs for fine delicacies for music . instrumentalist for understanding black renaissance as it evolves . GREATNESS on display .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤wwwwqq❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful sounds from Wynton, would need a pees shooter bore Trumpet to get closer to the sound Louis had! Having said that, great performance from the world's best Trumpeter who can switch with ease from Jazz to the Baroque! Kudos to you Mr. Marsallis. Met Wynton's father in Richmond in 1987 and had a sandwich together with Ellis!
すごいぜ! マルサリス Amazing Marsalis I know you from about 10 years ago. I played Tp 55 years ago about 4 years. Then Louis Armstrong came to Hiroshima, I went the concert. Please come to Hiroshima. I'm so old to go to U.S.
Played this on a DMA recital of mine...it’s like a big southern prayer and such a timeless melody 🙏🏽 I like how he doubles each of the major and minor sections (unlike Pops’ version)
Winton Marsalis has his own style , versatile , hé Can be thé interface between rock and jazz without being out jazz . He is incomparable as Louis Armstrong, Sydney Bichet, Benny Goodman etc...They are actual musicians
The other great thing about Louis's improvisation was that he never lost connection with the original melody. He played variations on the theme rather than just improvising over a chord sequence.
Exactly right, and that's true of all the other all time greats. Winton plays a virtuoso pastiche of other peoples ideas never comes up with anything original himself.. Great solos have a beginning, middle and an end. they tell a story. That never happens with Winton.
I remember this concert. I wish I had the entire thing still. It was the first time I had seen Doc Cheatham and Dr. Michael White. I think Nicholas Payton was even in it. It was incredible!

Such satisfaction from this trumpet player, my goal was to be like him when I started to play trumpet a year and a half and my range and tone is progressing greatly and I’m hope to be like him and progress more till I become a legend as them.
High ambitions but range and tone alone don’t make legend - that depends on inventiveness and feeling (which, by the way, WS is short on, sorry to say).
@Wynton Marsalis I'm always great when listening to music and Louis Armstrong was the earliest memory for me from my childhood and has travelled well throughout
A lot of people have commented that the first tune is Deep River or a medley of deep river, summertime, and swannee. It’s actually a single tune called Dear Old Southland. It’s less known now, but Pops played it and so did Wynton elsewhere. Here’s 2 links that prove it! ruclips.net/video/r2p-bcfGj4A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/00qK8crfUZg/видео.html
This is a perfect tribute from Wynton. The sound keeps fresh memories of Louis in our hearts.
Louis Armstrong is and always will be one of the best trumpet player ever.
The
I'd add Buck Clayton and Clark Terry to that short list.
Never mind trumpet player he was one of the greatest musicians ever.
Just probably the best trumpet player alive playing for the best trumpet player ever to live :)
And what do you think about Arturo Sandoval?
Jefferson Trovão Cantanhede very good player! love his tribute to Clifford Brown "i remember clifford"
Ok. thank by answer my question!

I think what separates them is the fact that Wynton can change trumpets and perform a flawless Haydn with the NY Philharmonic
He is not only a skillfull, but a clever musician. And for this reason he recognizes the big debt towards the great, immortal, never forgotten Satchmo. Beloved Louis, if you look at us from your paradise, enjoy this heir of yours.
No doubt! Ole Sachmo lookin down from paradise, smiling ear to ear at this man.
Hello Mr. Mario😊
A wonderful piece of music . Wynton has and continues to bring us quality music . God bless Louis he was and is the best there ever was.
This one has that sweet/greasy/raspy New Orleans character to it, and Mr. Marsalis nails it on the playing style that's pure Satchmo. Very beautifully executed.
I used to listen to tight like this on vinyl in the 1980’s. All the time. Louie. It’s tight like that.
So did I in the 60ies, and all of the other Hot 5 / Hot 7 recordings.
Hello Mr. Ralph 😊
The best trumpet player alive making a tribute for the best trumpet player ever! Just amazing! Mr Jazz is alive in this notes.
wynton marsalis is amazing trumpet player wow.
He's got his vibrato down perfectly. Close your eyes you could almost think it's louis.
i cry everytime
Miguelitsss liek
Miguelitsss me to bruh
Somehow, I don't believe anyone in history, ever, played the Trumpet better than Wynton Marsalis...
+Maria Marsalis is awesome...but unfortunately still no one can mess with maurice andré
+xAlphaGoatx I do believe we are talking about JAZZ, not classical.
+Martin Pique I don't disagree and I'm pretty sure Wynton would either.
+Maria Ashot Definetly Satchmo is UNTOUCHABLE
Lee Morgan would have blown arms off Marsalis.
I'm watching this after 5 years now and it looks and sounds fresher . Mr Marsalis 🔥🎶
Wynton Marsalis ! Magistral interpretation , Simply stupendous ! Greetings from Brazil.
The way Louis Armstrong is honoured in this video deserves our full respect.

Aw what passion! You've given Louis so much to be proud of! Well done brothers.

Who can click the thumb down for this music?. Even if you' re not a jazz lover you should know what it means for the whole music history.
Wonderful Control of breath and the trumpet. Beautifully spectacular.
just unbelieveble , how he can play anything anyway :o
We always remenber Lousi Armstrong. Fantastic in your time and today.
A fitting tribute to Louis from the First Family of Jazz Today.
Hello 😊
Being from New Orleans is such a blessing I myself came from a jazz family my grand uncle Danny Barker played the banjo he started me when i was a kid on I regret to this day I wish I would have stuck with it
Un monstre de la trompette y'en a pas deux comme lui
Un bel hommage à Satchmo !! Respect 🎺
This is refers to the solo item. The group item is a modern interpretation of New Orleans jazz. Excellent. This can only come with lots of dedication.
Charles Barry is

🔥🔥❤️🎼🎶🎵💯Gorgeously Done ✅ Mr. Marsalis
力強い演奏ですね。あまりひねりやかすれを入れないストレートなトランペットがいいです。最後はひねりましたね。さすが、ひねりどころを知っています。
GOD IS SO GOOD
God wasn’t playing, Wynton was.
@@steveavant9727 man you really just shattered quantina
The best relaxing and happy sound . Thanks.

@@chenwenkert5352”Dear Old Southland”
Thank you wynton.what a tribute, snatch would have loved it.he was my idol from the start of my love of jazz.
If you get a chance to see his father on piano, do it. He's the smoothest that I've ever seen. Friday nights at Snug Harbor in New Orleans
The first song is called "Dear Old Southland".
I think the very first one is Deep river, the famous negro spiritual ( right before Summertime ).
The first song is “Deep River,” a well known Negro Spiritual.
Dear old Southland is correct for the first 4 minutes. People should look it up more. It’s not as well known these days
Winton Marsalis has his own style , versatile , hé Can be thé interface between rock and jazz without being out jazz .
