Those animals eat cat foods together with your cats? My cats didn't want to eat their food at all, when hedgehogs visitid us and treated themselves from their bowls.. 🙂
Nothing phases Louis, ducks, cows, crows, racoons,he takes life all in stride. Louis is about as cool as it gets and has a great life. Thanks for giving this gorgeous cat such a fantastic life !
Raccoon wanted to wish Louis a Happy New Year!🥳 As do I! And to Meomy and Foxy and the Duck Squad! 2024 was difficult. Let's all hope that 2025 is better!
Raccoon: "Hi Lou, how's it goin?" Louis: "Hey Rocky, great! You?" Raccoon: "Good, see ya later." Louis: "Later, regards to the wife and kids." ❤❤🐾🐾🧡🐾🐾💙💙
Yes. I think one of my cats was mugged by some raccoons, so whenever I see one near a cat, I almost panic. But as you said, Louis handled himself like a champ.🏆
I live south of Chicago. My indoor cat goes in the backyard sometimes at night for a sit on the patio. Raccoons are frequent visitors. Possums too. Everyone gets along with a sniff and a walk away. No drama LOL
I just found you recently-few months I suppose. I am a HUGE animal lover (although that makes me sound fat, I am not, I am just trying to express that I truly love animals. (Probably should have just said that. ???) But, I just love this little friend of yours-I am so enthralled by just watching him Captain your ship there, looking about, checking things out. Keeping the peace by his presence, I suppose. It is like my dream home! How perfect that is! I used to watch so worried that Louis would jump in, but now I assume he is the type to remind you to "Be careful...don't fall in-I am not going in after you." And who could blame him. We recently saved a kitty who was being beat up on by other homeless kitties. It is a harsh world for animals. Your friend is so fortunate and very special. I live in -don't judge me-an apartment. I know. It does have it perks but, there are "rules". People will move out and at times leave their pet behind. It's sad. I live on a canal. But, none of my kitties would allow this. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
@@louiswildlifethank YOU for your beautiful, meditative and present vids.🙏🏾 Really appreciate you sharing your time... And you have One Handsome Cat!😻 much ❤ and following, from California USA (and a country household with one "official" rescue and 3-4 #notmycat s who are now sleeping on our bed in winter!) 😘💕
One of the theories as to how Maine Coon's got their name is due to the state of Maine, the region of the breed's origin, and the early belief that the cat was as a result of crossing between domestic breeds and raccoons. I have to say that Louis and his raccoon friend do look quite similar from a distance!
Louis likes to go kayaking early in the morning, when it is quiet, because People are still sleeping. Furthermore it is now cold and most people wait until spring to use the boats. 😽
Yes, three times when jumping off the kayak. But we are fast pulling him out the water. And he is a very good swimmer. He once crossed the whole canal swimming from one side to the other! 😺💖
raccoons were introduced to Europe a long time ago from here in the States. I am not so sure they thank us though LOL. I live south of Chicago and love them.
They are an introduced species. This is not a good thing. Think “rabbits in Australia”. Their environmental impact is not positive. But, humans thought they were cute and thought it was their right to just plop them down in an area they don’t belong.
Now I'm puzzled, because I thought at first they were in Germany and then I read a comment a while ago that they moved to Maine... I'm honestly not sure where they are located now. I wonder if they will confirm for us? I don't *think* there are racoons in Germany but I might be wrong. I'm in England and we don't have wild racoons here.
I’m also curious. The houses there look European, but to my knowledge we don’t have wild raccoons here in the Netherlands either. Edit: A quick google seems to suggest they do get spotted here occasionally, but the population in Germany seems larger.
You have a sharp eye! Yes, this video is actually from October. Over the Christmas break, our family was quite busy, and the weather was too cold for kayaking with Louis. In general, though, we aim to post videos filmed on the same day to capture the seasonal changes throughout the years on our channel. It’s fascinating to compare how the weather and landscape evolve year by year on the same date. Thank you for noticing-we appreciate your engagement! ❤️😽
Good grief! A raccoon nonchalantly ambling around in the daytime, around humans? Would never happen where I live. They’re the bandits in the night over here.
My cat doesn't like raccoons and has gotten into fights with them. One injured his right front leg probably by pulling, and it took a long time to heal. It's is a good thing Louis didn't attack. Raccoons have hands!
I'm surprised to see a raccoon wandering around during the daytime. The raccoons here in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. are mostly nocturnal. It's not unheard of to see them during the daytime - I have, a few times - but it's unusual. I'm glad that raccoon didn't hurt Louis. The raccoons here have been known to fight with cats. 🙀
The ultimate cool cat - whether flying ducks, raccoon approach - giving total nonchalance, disaffected, intent on his own attention. 😹 Also, are they not almost twins?? Size, color, fluffy tails. Puts in perspective how grand Louis is for those of us who’ve never had or seen a Maine Coon.
Mostly he jumps back in the kayak to go home. Sometimes he decides to walk back home and only takes the kayak at the end to get to the other side where our house is. Don’t worry. He wears a GPS tracker. And we paddle next to him all the time. 😽🫶
@louiswildlife - I saw in one of your videos that you do paddle beside him; and that's smart on his GPS tracker. You do such wonderful videos! And definitely spoil Louis! 💜💙🩵 💜💙🩵
I have a Maine Coon Cat and I would not let her come close to a Raccoon. When they are out during the day it usually means a raccoon is sick. They could give the cat rabies.
Yup, they live in the trees. My neighbor has a cherry tree. The racoons in our area always know exactly when the cherries are ripe. They probably smell it.
I have heard on youtube (and of course you know everything you hear on youtube is gospel truth!) that when racoons are wandering around in daylight outside their normal hours, that may be a sign they have rabies.
Louis goes kayaking with his mummy every morning. There are dozens of videos. Sometimes he stays the whole time on the boat and sometimes he gets off for a wander on land. He always walks back near to the canal so they kayak next to him. I can see how you would wonder, if you've never seen the channel before, but they honestly have the most peaceful and loving videos. 😻♥
I love going on these rides with Louis. Thank you
Thank you for joining 😽❤️
I can't help but envy Louis. What a great life. Thank you.....
I have raccoons and possums coming up on our porch and eating cat food along with our cats. They get along just fine.😊

The raccoon must have thought he was one of them being fat and fluffy 😅
Louis is not fat!
@maria-x2v - my mommy told me i have big bones. and papa said i look prosperous. my girlfriend said, oh my, look at the size of that cat.
Your videos make my day.
Raccoon just coming out and chilling with Louis like he just met a neighbor in the park 🤣
Racoons frequent my farm in Southeast US. My cats ignore them and vice versa. Love your videos! 😃👍
Raccoons are nearly blind..they have to get right up close to smell, even touch, to know what "that thing" is..Louis behaved so admirably!!
From what I understand racoons have extremely good night vision. They can see during the day but they are more nocturnal.
@@perceivedvelocity9914 yes they do! I feed wild ones every night and it is amazing watching them watch the night activity.
@perceivedvelocity9914 It's actually why they tend to Bob their head back and forth when looking at someone..they are trying to focus
😊
That enormous Willow tree is amazing! I have never seen one like that. I see the beavers have been busy too.
😊 Cool Louis at it again! 😀Love him!
The raccoon was just interested in comparing his tail to Louis’.
Definitely! 😹
The raccoon just wanted to say hello. Friendly neighbourhood raccoon is friendly.

I though I heard Louis growl giving fair warning to that racoon saying keep coming and see what happens.
Exactly. That is what he did. You have a sharp ear! Louis knows raccoons very well. And he knows how to “talk” to them 🦝😽
Thank you for the great video. Yes I also heard Louis give the raccoon a warning. Wishing you all a wonderful new year.

Louis wS approached by a raccoon and never even blinked! He's so calm!❤
Yes, typical 😉 but in this case: if you turn on your sound and you can hear him a kind of snarling at the raccoon 🦝 😘
