- This is my attempt at completing "The Brent Run" - an unofficial 160km endurance canoe race across the beautiful wilderness of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. I was lucky to have some incredible wildlife encounters along the way!
I hope you enjoy coming along with me.

I return to this video whenever I am looking for additional motivation and inspiration. This was a monumental effort and an incredible achievement. This deserves many more views (as do your other videos).
Wow, thank you! That's incredible. I'm truly humbled... Thank you so much for your support. Cheers! 🍻
Fantastic Kev, what a great accomplishment. You will never forget your time in Algonquin, I'm 71 and I still remember all of it. Thanks for the trip.
Thank you Neil! I agree. Many of my best memories are from my canoe trips in the Park.
A truly noble assault on the Brent Run (my favourite). Congratulations.
Thank you!
Dude did you do this in 2 DAYS?! That's a BEASTLY effort - RESPECT brother
Yeah it was tough… Thanks!
Your trip was looked like a blast too. Great work yourself as well
Yeah spotting those wolves was the highlight for me. Thank you!
Algonquin Park really does offer some of the best gloomy morning photo opportunities. Beautiful loons at the start of the video.
It certainly does!
And to film this while doing it is so incredible with that time. I've said it before with two of you the tandem record would be shattered :P
You kicked butt on that one. Great job. Awesome country you’re traveling through.
Thanks Doug! And yes it is!
Caught up on another one Kev! Great video! No apologies necessary for the filming! You did an outstanding job considering the endurance that it took to do this in only 2 days! Amazing wildlife scenes! I’ve heard many a wolf pack howling but have never seen one in the wild! I’ll continue catching up and in the meantime you take care!
Glad you enjoyed Terry!
That was fantastic and kept me captivated all the way through to the end. Those wolf pictures are likely the treasures of a lifetime. About two weeks before your trip I was in Algonquin adventuring on the Tim River. Along the way Luke and I travelled through Big Trout out to Canoe Lake. Water levels were lower for us based on the Otterslide sections of your video. We also had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Jordan and Ben, two other adventurers completing the Brent Run at the time! Thanks for sharing your video!
Thanks! I really appreciate your comment. Yes the wolves were definitely the highlight of my trip! Great interview with Jordan and Ben - I had a laugh watching that 😄 Cheers!
Respect.
Thank you 🍻
Wow! What an amazing challenge. Well done. No need to apologize for the filming. A great video is first and foremost about the story, and you had a great story. It’s not about capturing every detail, but about capturing the essential details, and this you did whether by instinct or design. I was totally engaged from beginning to end. 👏👏👏
Thanks Pam! Very much appreciated 😊
Whoa, amazing job, that’s crazy fast to do solo.
Thanks JM 🍻
Amazing video! The endurance required to complete this is crazy, congratulations!
Thank you!
Absolutely incredible! I didn't think you would finish in less than 48 hours. Quite an amazing accomplishment, and the wolves siting/moose/scenery make it all worth it. So glad you filmed it.
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment. All those things certainly did make it worth it! Algonquin is a special place. Cheers
Very impressive effort and video. Most people don't see that much of the park in 10 trips!!!
Thanks a lot Steve!
very badass! 😎😎
What an awesome journey
It was! Thanks Greg!
you killed it bro . Great accomplishment .
Thanks!
Incredible… great job, that’s now on my bucket list paddle loops, maybe not in less than 2 days but I’ll try
Awesome Blake. It was definitely a fun challenge, but I won’t be trying it again anytime soon lol
RESPECT. That was a serious true grit run. Amazing feat in my book. To be young again!
I appreciate that. It's definitely one of the toughest things I've ever done.
It's crazy how there are so few views and not many subs. Currently 5.3k views and 1.27k subs. This channel deserves lots more. Hopefully, the algorithm will pick this up and put it out there. Good luck with your channel. It's very good quality.
I really appreciate the kind words Leigh. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing your adventure! You are a real inspiration, Kev. Cheers!
Thanks Dan! Glad you enjoyed!
@@kevinthewild You're very welcome, my friend!
Dude that was Sick! Really enjoyed that. Thanks for the enjoyment of watching it. I will watch it again, the filming was spectacular!
Thanks for the positive feedback! Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Loved the video! Great hard effort. Great trip. You’ll remember this always!
I definitely will! Thanks!
Way to go ! Great video , how great that you managed to capture all the awesome wildlife sightings!
Thanks Dee! I know I really did get lucky 😊
Awesome video dude. It’s crazy you haven’t got a million subscribers but I think that will change rapidly. Excellent content, well presented and beautiful scenery. You worked hard to make this video thank you for sharing
Thank you so much Jason. I really appreciate that. Cheers! 🍻
great nature and your passion.👍 Thanks for your video~~~
Thank you Paul
Congrats pal ! Well done
Thank you!
Awesome shots man, the video was fantastic. lots of nice healthy moose on that run.
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Good job! I've always wanted to tackle the Brent Run. You had prime conditions there.
Thanks! I certainly did! I really enjoy your channel btw. Cheers!
The loons... amazing
I've been to Algonquin many times and never saw anyone who could cover that much distance so fast. And to encounter so much wildlife in that short time. You have to be the "Loon Whisperer" to get so close especially going past a nest. I wonder if the moose with bloody legs had just fended off another nipping wolf. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I wondered the same. Thanks for leaving a comment. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers
amazing. I follow you.
Thank you!
Absolutely great video I'm looking forward to so much more content 😀😀, with the meanest link be something you'd be willing to do in the future?
Thanks Jonathan, I appreciate it! I haven’t ruled out doing the meanest link - but either way there are many more adventures to come.
wow!! Now that is beast mode. I feel done at 20 km. Not to be critical, but it would have been way better if a loop was done, to cover that much ground twice. They should make it up to the nipissing and over, then that route back. or over to opeongo.
Yeah it would be nice not to have to double back - but on the other hand I’m happy the run wasn’t any longer lol
@@kevinthewild Yeah the Nipissing, quickly on google earth in a straight line is a third more, plus it would be half the speed so forget that...although it would be nice.
Perhaps the first cow moose lost her calf to those wolves?
That's entirely possible Clifford. I didn't include all the footage in the video, but it was apparent to me that the cow was very distressed.
Got to say…this was the most animal encounters probably anyone has seen within a 48 hour period. Those loons were oddly close to you.
Yeah the wildlife encounters made it that much more memorable. Thanks for watching! And I’ll be sure to check out your videos too! Cheers
I can admire your strength and endurance, but I wonder if canoeing should ever be a competitive enterprise. For me, paddling was always a place to relax, view nature, watch birds, fish, and get away. Humans seem to need to compete and go fast, but there are many other ways to do that.
This was a personal challenge for me. I wanted to test myself doing something that I love. But I agree with you Kevin. Canoe tripping is my way to escape, reflect, and reconnect with nature. I’m glad I did this, but my future trips will once again be about enjoying my time out in the wilderness.
Accept the variability in humans. Your values are not others. Yes, humans want to go fast and exceed limits. It’s what makes us the dominant species. Live with it. You do you. But, importantly, let other humans do what they value. Thanks. 😅
Hi Kev…. Wild solo journey for you. Strenuous work to paddle all that way. What a sweet victory. I think you did save that Moose. What a great video. You complete your challenge, see wolves chasing a Moose and then you become a hero. Maybe the calf was hiding nearby? Wow. 😱 Congratulations on completing The Brent Run, my young friend. I hope you might visit my channel sometime. Thankyou so much for sharing your wonderfully challenging, wild adventure with us. Take care Kev, looking forward to seeing you again. Cheers, Eh. 👌🙌😇 🌟 LilliStJohn
Thank you Lilli 😊
@@kevinthewild You’re very welcome😇
Great video. I don't know how people have done it 24 hours. I'm hoping to do it myself sometime.
Awesome Run!! My buddy Frank and I ran it a week before (ruclips.net/video/Ryf6D9Pcgeg/видео.html). It was great to see pretty much the same images we encountered but from a different perspective. You kicked ass! Are we in the golden age of the Brent Run? First solo... new record time... all within the same month? Great to see the wolves! And that crazy loon still sitting on that nest.
Looks like it! Awesome run Jeph. Really enjoyed your video. Cheers!
I swear you lost weight in this run...lol
Yeah I probably did lol
Do u have fb or instagram by chance
Hey Jason! My only public account is on Instagram @ kevinthewild1 - but as you’ll see I don’t use it at all lol
