This should really have been called 'Losing Patients'
I like it!
Never thought I'd hear "Klaus Kinski" and "subdued" used to describe the same character in any film. Dude was easily the most dangerous person on that set, I'm sure.
Definitely likely, but when he's in that rare cooperative state he doesn't miss a beat.
The man was insane, but he was a method actor. His character was caring and subdued? He played him that way. I would be afraid if they asked him to play the killer. Who knows what would hava happened
Y'know, I never really had much of an appreciation for giallo films until i started watching GBF. Thank you, team!
You are welcome! There are some genuinely good ones out there, not just the sleazy ones. (although they are often really fun)
Slaughter Hotel owner: I’m so Crazy, I’m just Slashing prices lol
WHAT! A low budget giallo that ISN'T on Tubi? I don't believe it.
*Dog from... Phelous's running gag, ig:* "Believe it."
I was watching an overview of this this morning on The King in Giallo's channel and my first thought was to check Tubi.
RIP Roger Corman
Roger Corman didn’t go to Film school. He was film school
Damn... Didn't know.
Oh, damn. RIP you beautiful B-grade behemoth.
What.....damn.
Wow that is depressing to suddenly read, I somewhat recently rewatched my favourite of his films “Death Race 2000” and was amazed how cheap it was given it looked 5 times it’s budget
Haha, that's exactly what I thought!
"Oh shit, here comes Klaus Kinski!"
I had the exact same thought and laughed pretty hard when Cecil said it.
Like, how else does one respond to Klaus Kinski?
I love, love, love these kinds of reviews!!!! Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching! I love doing them. :)
"Finding the man in the boat" Omg I'm dead! lol I have never heard that one before, I guess you really do learn something new everyday.
This is an educational program!
RIP to the late, great Roger Corman 😢
Sometime in 1971 someone said "Damn it, we're just short of feature length! What will we do?! and voice from the heavens said "Make the credits sequence interminably long"
The filmmaking equivalent of a high schooler playing with the line spacing and margins to reach a page count for his report.
Ah sleazy Italian movies, taking the edge off monday.
:)
And lots of "Buckwheat in a leg lock".
Fidel Castro eating a london broil
The cameraman tripped 😂😂😅😅
Oh jeez...Klaus Kinski strikes again. Jokes aside, I got something to say to all the viewers: 👇
I understand many of you are aware of Roger Corman's sudden passing last weekend.
Hopefully, GoodBadFlicks will probably a special about him in the near future.
But if there is any tribute I would like to see in this channel covered in the near future, its David Sanborn's Night Music that was aired near midnight on NBC (1989-1992). The program showcased live performances of mostly Jazz's greatest artists of all time. As of today, I've learned that David has passed on which affected me very deeply. His contribution to pop culture including the Lethal Weapon Saga and other collabs with other artists will forever be ingrained in entertainment history.
I wish both David and Roger a safe journey and lifetime of peace in the sea of paradise. I'll miss ya, both. RIP. 💐💐
Can't spell slaughter without laughter!
The dress code for the patients was Italian nightclub.
Fernando de Leo did some.italian crime films that are simply amazing......The Boss and The Italian Connection(with Henry Silva), and the classic Milan Calibre No. 9.
You should watch all three
When I worked in healthcare sales, it was nearly impossible to sell anything to mental health facilities because _everything_ posed a safety risk. Apparently standards were far lower in 20th century Italy.
Obviously it's an experimental treatment where the staff trust the patients and the patients learn to trust themselves...
I imagine the head doctor's announcement at breakfast after the first kill went something like this:
"Nurse Carolleta was brutally murdered last night. And don't worry, I and all the rest of the staff understand that mistakes happen, and we're all here to help you get better not to judge you. But nevertheless, if this sort of thing starts happening too often everyone is going to lose their battle axe privileges, and no one wants that."
Wait, Roger Corman died? Four DAYS ago?
How come I haven't heard about this?
Me neither
I know, with as many famous actors and directors who got their start with Corman, you would think everyone would be talking about it.
Dammit. I knew it was coming considering how old he was but it still hits you.
That's what I was thinking!
I didn't know until I saw a video in my feed that was like "RIP Roger Corman."
Thanks for all these great videos!
Don't know why but they are always relaxing to me! 👍
Thank you for the support! I'm glad you enjoy them :)
R.I.P. Roger Corman 🕊🙏✝️♥️😭🌅🪦
" There's not much therapy in that asylum" , there is for us that's for sure
This entire film has the same framing when the nerds raided the Pi Delta Pi house and set up all the hidden cameras to spy on them. All the casual weapons placements is a bit of a difference though...
so...a juicy meaty sandwhich.....in other words.....a family movie for christmas ?
Wait, kinski is one of the staff? Not a patient?
Did Werner Hertzog cut a deal so kinski could do more movies with him?
He was probably a patient who was just pretending to be a doctor to feed his narcissism.
@@Belgand oh, good point.
He gets to think he's a big shot, and there are some female nurses and patients to hit on.
Those two hated each other so much that someone on set offered to kill Kinski for a fee.
I'm thinking back on "El Caballero del dragon", where kinski actually played a hero alongside Harvey Keitel.
I've seen this (unrated version) on RUclips some yrs back. IDK if it's still there. . . Yeah! It wasn't something I was expecting. LoL
Up all night sleep all day HAHAHAHAH i get that slaughter reference 😂🤣😂
Yay! I was hoping someone would pick it up. I put the insert in there just in case.
I got it immediately
Man, I had no want to see this until the Klaus not being a wacko .
For a second, I thought you were gonna use one of my favorite lines of yours: "....and then....SEX!"
lol :)
Oh my God Klaus Kinski he's the only one that truly should be institutionalized had it not been for his amazing performances. Watching him go on manic tirades and hearing his other tales of crazy antics never get old
Slaughter Hotel: Accommodations are eternal
I appreciate the Slaughter reference. Although, that song will be in my head all day.
Thank you! I wasn't sure how many people would get it, hence why I put the image in there. I could think of worse tunes to have stuck in your head. :)
“Extreme Butt Massage” would be a great name for a band!
There is one good thing about this film, and I am surprised it was not mentioned. Professor Osterman was played by the great John Karlsen. A character actor that I first became aware of only a year or so before this film came out. In the film Mission Stardust, John plays Crest. The alien scientific leader on a spaceship stranded on the moon. Though portraying an ailing man, John displays the strength and dignity Crest--so revered by his people--has come to expect. Great Performance, and a wonderfully talented actor.
Klaus Kinski: Germany's attempt to clone Brad Dourif gone wrong. 😎
I think Klaus started acting before Brad, but that's a good joke. 😎👍
@@Madbandit77 😉
2:35 I'll take a wild guess Cecil he's the killer right?
6:48 ARBY'S!!!!!!😋😋😋
8:50 Oh crap!! I was wrong🤣🤣
Another funny asd episode Cecil😂😂👍👍
:)
As we all know in Italian "giallo" films...anything goes. Hell I'm intrigued to watch a subdued Klaus Kinski film. Bravo Klaus, Bravo! 👏👏👏👏
Even crazier, he is dubbed with a very soft voice.
@@GoodBadFlicks a kinder, softer Klaus Kinski...oh what the world missed out on...our loss 😢😢😢😭
During the medieval period, there were only two places they sent nymphomaniacs. To an asylum, or a Catholic nunnery.
And there are plenty of films about the latter.
There’s an urban legend that Clint Eastwood was terrified of Klaus Kinski when they did a movie together. Clint was worried Kinski would kill him over something as trivial as cigarettes. Thanks, Cecil.
.
Up all night, sleep all day. I have a feeling someone is about to Fly to the Angels :)
Love giallos, this one is pretty entertaining
RIP Mr Corman. You helped with many careers and were instrumental in the creation of many B-movies.
0:48 "EXCELLENT!!!" (air guitar)
This looks amazing
GBF puts the G in Good Bad Mondays.
:)
Beautiful Scorch reference!
Seems like one of those reviews I have to pause and go watch the movie and come back ;)
Thank you for all your good content Cecil. I never miss a video!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
And just re-watching this flick: In a "sanitarium", more staff than patients, booze and cigarettes in the general area? Who'da thunk!
I imagine this all seemed normal in 1971
I think the killer was originally Hulk Hogan when his mustache was shaved off by Kevin Sullivan and turned into Evil Hulk Hogan.
I really dug this one. It’s so sleazy.
You know a movie is bad when the director is calling it out lol
I think they rushed it so they could say they were rushed, explaining away how bad it is. HA! Brilliant!
The nurse was giving tub lady a ✋️ 🤚
Friendly and helpful are two words that have never been paired with the name Klaus Kinski.
I bet it was all the hot actresses around him that was the reason why he behaved himself for this movie. In fact, every shot of Klaus Kinski looks like he's restraining the urge to Klaus Kinski the director, especially when sucking on that cigarette 😂
He was infatuated with Tane McClure while filming Crawlspace and so he was always on his best behavior whenever she was around.
Big Montana LUL Perfect slimily, I understood.
I know it takes a lot of time to make a video in your exploring series. But it's been long time since you dropped one of those
Last one was Feb. I'm currently working on 6 of them. They take a long time.
@@GoodBadFlicks Now I know you're cooking. Love your content, man.
:)
I love all your videos man. Would you ever do one on Female Prisoner Scorpion or Lady Snowblood?
Thanks! I've thought about those, especially Lady Snowblood because of its influence on Kill Bill.
"Iron Maiden?... EXCELLENT!"
(guitar riff)
i am a slaughter hotel rewards member
Complementary breakfast comes with free weapon of your choosing.
"Iron Maiden? EXCELLENT!!!"
Ever notice that roughly half the people who get nekkid in films from this era recently had their appendix removed?
this is my kind of movie
The Man in the Boat is drowning!
Quick, give him mouth to mouth!
Bahahahahahahaha!!!! 😋🍑
ah gialli, theyre so great
lol Kinski the most creepy looking guy.
"Please wipe mister Kinsky off my lens"
I like that rest home, they're all drinking booze. When I was in a "rest home" all I got was de-caf coffee!😭
The amount they're drinking qualifies as "rest" in Italy. I think it was also illegal to make a film in Italy between the mid-'60s and mid-'70s without at least one on-screen bottle of J&B.
🕊️ Roger Corman... Peaceful Journey 🕊️
I would love to see your take on The Visitor (Stridulum) it's so bad but I love it lol
Maybe at the moment 0:18 that lady that tried to wreck the car and WHACK!!! the Doc with a branch, tried to smash the poor guy's camera. 🤣 Also, I would have been freaked out if I was any of the actors or camera man from this film, having a bunch of medieval weapons (props or not) with Klaus Kinsky in the same room, sounds like a recipe for disaster.
I just found out that Margaret Lee (Cheryl Hume) died less than a month ago :(
May she rest in peace.
An asylum that hasn't heard of bondage, straight jackets, or even chastity belts?
I would say that it's probably more realistic if not for everything else in the movie.
Friendly, helpful Klaus Kinski!
A lot of hairy roast beef touching in that movie.
Someone dropped it on the floor
Holy Moly!!
Another fantastic forgotten horror film.... The Kindred (1987). It has Rod Steiger. Not to mention fantastic effects and a cool story. Maybe a video on this someday....in a few years... Any hope?
Don't give up hope lol, I'll get to it eventually
@@GoodBadFlicks Thanks so much. I know I've been bothering you about this for awhile but it's just baffling to me that The Kindred is never ever talked about. I think it's better than most 80's creature features. It's got great characters and pretty awesome effects
"You call that an axe wound? I'll show you an axe wound!"
I need to watch this movie
The day after I watched this film I saw people playing croquet in the park by my train station. Freaked me out a bit.
I simply love you.
Omg do "Beyond The Valley of the Dolls"
"Slaughter Hotel": You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Or stop being embarrassed. Or nervous that Klaus Kinski's gonna snap any second.
Klaus kinsky not playing a villain?
I guess the guy did have some range.
Brilliant
I always thought it a was roast beef sandwich with cheddar
?
Heard that but I've been saying big Montana for as long as I can remember.
Was the interior design of this asylum done by Dracula?
Rip Roger corman.
I can suspend my disbelief for a lot of stuff, but Klaus Kinski being a subdued level headed good guy? Come on, you can only stretch reality so far...
You can only ask so much of the audience!
So where can we find this masterpiece of cinema ... you know for research purposes.
I'm guessing that the Agatha Christie book inspiration was The ABC Murders, though the plots have absolutely nothing in common.
6:04 I really expected a quick-cut to the black riders stabbing the pillows at the Prancing Pony here.
Great review!
1.) No sir ! There is no such thing as "far too much" nude Rosalba Neri. ❤❤ 2.) I kept waiting for you to mention the lil' front door. Alas.
I can't believe you didn't insert a Bill & Ted Iron Maiden reference! Missed opportunity!
I thought about it and figured it was too obvious
Weird Science, License To Drive, Gleaming The Cube, Mikey, Unlawful Entry, Higher Learning, Cry Baby, Krush Groove, Into The Wild, A Solider’s Story, She’s Out Of Control, Tales From The Hood, True Romance, Menace To Society, Legend, Just One Of The Guys, Disorderlies, Bugsy, Class Act, I Like It Like That, Zebrahead, Night Of The Demons, Boys In The Hood, Doom Generation, Nowhere, Jade, Def By Temptation, Strickly Business, Demon Knight, The Heavenly Kid
Casting Klaus Kinski as a red herring seems like an inspired idea but it sounds like they botched it.
It certainly was unexpected
Know anything about Greg Araki films or ever seen a film called Blowing Smoke 2004
"A lot of plot"
