I was going to write the same thing!! Long live Sabaton! Love the content GBFs. You should carry on with all the low budget fight flicks. Love these movies.
I got a crazy Bloodfist releated story for ya. Over a decade ago I was contacted by the director Terence H. Winkless to help him with a link to a trailer for Rage and Honor. And after helping him with that, we actually chatted on Skype about Bloodfist and The Nest. He even offered me a job to work as an assistant for a film in Canada that was another Bloodfist kind of movie but with a female lead. Well, the entire opportunity fell through pretty fast though because the lead star got pregnant and then the film was completely shelved. So this film will always have a bit of a connection with me because it reminds me of that one time when I almost got to work in Canada living a dream and working on a movie set. He was going to provide a flight there and everything.
I was so caught up in the awesome Mentos bit that I nearly missed the Tae Bo shoutout! It's been forever since I heard a reference Billy Blanks; I forgot he was an actor!
WOW, Who could imagine that a movie that took advantage of the success of Bloodsport could spawn even more sequels than Bloodsport? Hey, that Mentos gag and the "Rocky" music montage just left me without breath. Great job.
03:05: And now I'll have THAT sung stuck in my head the rest of the week. Thank you SO much Cecil. You're a bad man. I kid. Except I probably will have that damn jingle stuck in my head for a week.
God it's been literally decades since I last watched a low budget martial arts film. I lived off of these as a kid. My local video store kept the kung fu section well stocked. Shame I never got to check this series of films at the time.
That Mentos joke fits so perfectly in this film. Also, just a quick explanation on the Walkman not making sense: it's explained in a deleted scene that there was a subplot in which Nancy encounters a swirling portal and upon stepping through it, enters the year 2029, where Walkmans are experiencing a surge in nostalgia-popularity. When she inspects one the tachyons of her past and the Walkman's future conflict and she ends up back in the main timeline, still holding the Walkman. While she's trying to figure it out during the fight, its wi-fi feature, which she's unfamiliar with, interferes with the fighter's ear piece. The subplot was removed because the executive producer, who would go on to oversee all of Steve Seagal's direct-to-video films, is a huge stickler for continuity and keeping the story as focused and easily explained as possible. Stop looking at me like that, I'm telling the truth.
I haven’t watched this since I was over at my friend’s house in the ‘90s on HBO. Now I’m going to have a Bloodfist marathon on Tubi! Great video as always 👍🏻
So Michael Shaner, who played Baby, was also in Lethal Weapon as the guy Riggs ends up "talking down" from jumping off a roof by (wait for it) jumping off a roof into a rescue inflatable. In Bloodfist he actually scored on a rooftop...but ends up dying later in a fight. Universe balanced I guess.
Love seeing that you are still around ( though I can’t get over the change in voice thanks to time and mic). You’re awesome and you bring forth content that no one would have ever expected. Keep being a rock star.
Thank you! Yeah, my old setup was so bad despite being "professional". The college I worked for had a soundbooth but the equipment they were using was junk. I've also gotten more comfortable over time. Lots and lots more to come!
The Rocky Theme interlude is great. Penny Whistles are a much underrated instrument when is comes to covering Philadelphia Soul. I like the idea of a franchise where only the title and star carry over from one film to the next.
They are all worth watching, lots of crazy action and by making it about a new character each time, they can do more with it. I hope they all get restored. So far only the first one has been.
And I know I understand why Michael Shaner was up on the ledge being talked down by Mel Gibson... Great review- Mentos, Dirty Dancing and Roger Corman goodness all in 14 minutes- Yes!!!
Thanks for the review, Cecil. I've seen a few of Wilson's films, maybe a sequel or two, but I'm going to check this one out based on your recommendation.
I'm from South East Asia but ladybody only synonim with Thailand, no other part of Southeast Asia allowed them walk on the streets, maybe Singapore because they just recently allowed same sex marriage.....
the idea on the kidney thing is, kidneys get hit/injured often during fighting. you normally have 2. if one gets hurt the other can take over while it heals. if you only have 1, and it gets hit. you die. it wouldn't effect you directly while fighting.
Great new review, Cecil. of a martial arts film. I have heard of, but never seen. including its sequels & remakes. which I wouldn't mind watching. especially Bloodfist 4 & Angelfist. also loved the Mentos edit, its was hilarious. :)
So, I think what they were implying with the Walkman was that the tapes were switched. Also, the most criminal thing in the movie were those mom jeans Nancy's actress wore
Or it's a cheap knock-off Walkman that doesn't conform to standards against producing radio interference. Plenty of electronics can do that. Like a microwave messing up reception on a 2.4 GHz cordless phone.
Well, if they were playing the theme to Rocky like that, I'll be laughing too. 😉😂🤣 Also, nice Dirty Dancing reference. When I heard the character was named Baby, was hoping you would find a way to put it in there. Didn't let me down. Anyways, thank you, did enjoy this.
Agreed, the mentos era was 💯. I would love to see Manila some day - my brother does a lot of work in the Philippines and has a lot of good things to say. Anyway, have a nice day and remember to be mentos fresh and full of life.
This looks loads of fun lol I can't believe it came out with that many sequels! And a few remakes! If I start watching it, I think I'll just stick to the first movie for awhile. If I'm interested enough watching the first film, I'll proceed with the others. Can't wait! Thanks for another video, Cecil! Keep it up!!
I was totally expecting him to get his brother's kidney allowing him to fight in the tournament. I guess his missing kidney was nearly useless for the plot
Fun video! Bloodfist is one of my favorite tournament fighter flicks. And made me a pretty big fan of Don “The Dragon” Wilson to boot. You made fun of it in the video, but I gotta say. I actually didn’t piece together that Kwan was the bad guy immediately. Once I figured it out? I thought having the martial arts teacher turn out to be the final villain was actually a pretty novel twist for a low budget martial arts flick. I still think it’s a cool idea. The way Don was hired for this flick is also pretty cool. He’s told it in interviews. Corman had been looking for an action star to use in a Bloodsport knockoff for a while. And when they brought in Don, they had him read for the part where he’s told who killed his brother. So he imagined himself being in that situation (as he actually has a brother irl.), and apparently THE LOOK that crossed Don’s face was enough for Corman to go “that’s him. That’s our guy.” He’s also had an ongoing beef with Frank Dux, wanting to kick his ass in a real match. Bottom Line? Don “The Dragon” Wilson is THE MAN.
Thanks! Oh, I wouldn't have known it who the bad guy was but the footage in the beginning was so clean, you could totally see it was Kwong. I saw it back in the day on VHS and it was muddy so his identity was obscured.
It suddenly occurs to me that I could take MANY scenes from "The French Connection" and turn them into different MENTOS commercials. -Including the ending of "Chinatown," if I wanted to get really dark. "Hey, forget it, Jake. It's THE FRESHMAKER!"
You gotta do New York Ninja. The 1984 masterpiece that was shelved for 35 years. Don Wilson does the lead dub in it. It's an incredible story. Although, I am guessing you already know of it.
I had to contain myself during the Mentos and Rocky bits because I listened at work. This was a great episode, Cecil! I may have asked this before, but have you considered The Radioland Murders? Review aside, I think you'd love it.
Eighties martial arts movies, where everyone was building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude, forging their tradition in the spirit of their ancestors. (So many opportunities for Kentucky Fried Movie references…)
Great video! You were wrong about one thing, though. No one taught Seagal how to run. He teaches others how to run. He invented running. No, he is running.
The Mentos edit alone makes this the greatest of Cecils videos. THE DAMN GREATEST.
that was so perfectly timed it was impeccable
Brilliantly edited! 👍🏾
Indeed.
Thank you so much! I was hoping it would go over well :)
I actually had to stop the video just to laugh. Plus I almost choked on my food. Bravo Cecil, bravo.
Quincy cutaway, Sabaton reference, Mentos commercial, and that training montage music...... Total home run Cecil! ✊
Thanks! I aim to please :)
Not to mention "The guy who taught Segal how to run". This was gold!
I came here to say the same thing. Sabaton refwrence and mentos commericial edited perfectly are the best things ive seen all week.
Oh god that karate champ reference too!
We're not worthy! We're not worthy!
I did not expect a reference to the greatest military history metal band of all time.
(to quote Wakaliwood) Expect the unexpectable!
He didn’t reference Bolt Thrower. :) ruclips.net/video/I29z5zvPmo4/видео.htmlsi=qhWzB83H7TlqqEaP

Wow thats crazy. I wonder what the movie would have been.
''Nobody puts Baby in a corner..."
I was not expecting a Dirty Dancing reference on a Bloodfist video.
I was so caught up in the awesome Mentos bit that I nearly missed the Tae Bo shoutout! It's been forever since I heard a reference Billy Blanks; I forgot he was an actor!
Billy is awesome! I'm going to be covering some of his movies in the future.
Forgetting the fact that Wilson is in this, any movie called "Bloodfist" is going to be a legend.
THE FRESHMAKER!
2:47
I literally almost fell out of my chair! 🤣🤣🤣
And the Mentos was awesome!
Roger Corman, The Philippines, Martial Arts action, Good looking women & a fantastic "Mentos" edit.😂😂😂...give me a hell yes!!
Thank you!
WOW, Who could imagine that a movie that took advantage of the success of Bloodsport could spawn even more sequels than Bloodsport? Hey, that Mentos gag and the "Rocky" music montage just left me without breath. Great job.
Thanks! I'm always happy when I hear the bit land :)
9:55 “jake, the snake!”
Easily the best Mentos ad I have ever seen
:)
The Mentos ad had me in tears 😂
I'm so happy that one turned out :)
Cecil, you are the highlight of my week. Thank you
Awww thanks! :)
Had to pause it at the Mentos logo, so I could finish laughing.
:)
What would an 80's martial arts movie be without an underground fighting tournament?
The karate kid
03:05: And now I'll have THAT sung stuck in my head the rest of the week. Thank you SO much Cecil. You're a bad man.
I kid. Except I probably will have that damn jingle stuck in my head for a week.
I'm sorry and you're welcome :P
God it's been literally decades since I last watched a low budget martial arts film. I lived off of these as a kid. My local video store kept the kung fu section well stocked. Shame I never got to check this series of films at the time.
You know you're in for a good time when a low-budget martial arts film lists the stars' championships on the poster.
That Mentos joke fits so perfectly in this film. It all makes sense now!
OMG the MENTOS joke was perfect!

I haven’t watched this since I was over at my friend’s house in the ‘90s on HBO.
Now I’m going to have a Bloodfist marathon on Tubi! Great video as always 👍🏻
Thanks! Enjoy it!
I love this channel
Thanks!
That Mentos bit was spot on hahaha
I can't believe Corman cut to a Menthos commercial mid movie! But he is definitely staying fresh staying cool
Its like poetry
Mentos gag was gold!
:)

Thanks! I was really happy with that one :)
Love me some Don “The Dragon” Wilson. Bloodfist 3 is my personal favourite.
always happy to see Don "The Dragon" Wilson films! My favorite was always Virtual Combat, but any of them are entertaining!
Agreed!
Wasn't expecting the Mentos reference nearly died laughing
So happy it went over well

Can't go wrong with Don "The Dragon" Wilson
The BloodFist Franchise Rulez✊🏻!
This Franchise needs an awesome👏🏻😎🤩Bluray release🙏🏻.
I was just wondering the other day when your going to drop a new GBF video . Thanks Cecil ❤
You are welcome :)
This movie was what inspired the name of a band I was in a few years ago. We released one song. It was a blast.
Ahh, classic Goodbadflicks
I need to find blood fist 6 right now that sounds amazing
Its currently on Tubi
@@GoodBadFlicks I know what I am watching tonight
And I know I understand why Michael Shaner was up on the ledge being talked down by Mel Gibson...

Thanks for the review, Cecil. I've seen a few of Wilson's films, maybe a sequel or two, but I'm going to check this one out based on your recommendation.
You are welcome! Most of the series is on Tubi if you want to check it out and can't find the Bluray
I love Sabaton!!!! Good to know you’re also a fan Cecil!!!!!
They are awesome!
I already loved this channel but the Sabaton reference sealed the deal. :)
R.I.P. Rob Kaman, who passed away this past March at the age of 63.
Oh no! RIP
@@GoodBadFlicks one of the greatest kickboxers of that era. He and Wilson both held the PKA and WKA world championships at various points.

The Mentos bit was fantastic! Kinda reminds me of the Cervesa Cristal ads in Chilean Star Wars.
:)
..."Do I make tea out of him?". 😂
OMG, the Mentos part made almost fall out of my damn chair laughing. 10/10 perfect joke
:)
I choked on my coffee at the Mentos bit. Great work.
Glad you liked it! Hope you didn't mess up your keyboard :)

So, I think what they were implying with the Walkman was that the tapes were switched. Also, the most criminal thing in the movie were those mom jeans Nancy's actress wore
Ahhh that makes sense. They didn't really clarify. Oh and yeah, the mom jeans were very unflattering
Or it's a cheap knock-off Walkman that doesn't conform to standards against producing radio interference. Plenty of electronics can do that. Like a microwave messing up reception on a 2.4 GHz cordless phone.
@Belgand that's what I was suspecting
Vic Diaz is such an actor that he makes a memorable farting vampire
Well, if they were playing the theme to Rocky like that, I'll be laughing too. 😉😂🤣 Also, nice Dirty Dancing reference. When I heard the character was named Baby, was hoping you would find a way to put it in there. Didn't let me down. Anyways, thank you, did enjoy this.
Running through Manila barefoot is one of the greatest death-defying stunts ever put on film.
Thank you been looking for this
Ok Cecil you had me at the Mentos edit, glad I'm not alone in this either XD
I'm glad that one worked, it made me laugh :)
The Mentos commercial insert was really funny it made me reminisce that decade. Oh, it was 39° hot yesterday here in Manila

Hey GBF, when will we expect another Exploring video? It’s been a couple months now!
Hopefully before the end of this month. They each take a LONG time.

But they didn't send anyone to Detroit.
Don Wilson had a big kickboxing rivalry with the guy who played JCVD's brother. They are both American kick boxing legends.
Ah yes, Baby, my favorite Dragon Ball GT villain.
The police ruling the brother's murder as suicide is way more on the nose than I expected the filmmakers thought it would be

1:12 that rat tail is so late 80s early '90s 🤙👍👍
I kept wondering where I had seen “Baby” before. He’s the dude Mel Gibson handcuffed and jumped off the roof with in “Lethal Weapon”!
The Mentos commercial brings back memories.
I always pictured Don the Dragon Wilson playing Namor the Sub-Mariner back then.
Aw man, we really lost out.
