- A 1994 PBS documentary about the deaths of Admira Ismić and Boško Brkić. The couple were natives of Bosnia and Herzegovina living in the city of Sarajevo. She was a Bosniak, and he a Bosnian Serb. They were killed on 19 May 1993 by a Serb sniper, while trying to cross the Vrbanja bridge into the Serb-occupied territory of Grbavica.
Nisu oni pripadali ni Srbima ni Muslimanima. Pripadali su jedno drugom i to verovatno nije ni jednoj strani odgovaralo. A ubili su ih budale koje su mislili da je metak jaci od ljubavi!!
I remember when this was originally broadcast. I was in middle school; was probably the first time being aware of world politics. I still think of Admira and Bosko all these years later.
This happened in our lifetime. It happened in Sarajevo. A beautiful city that once hosted a wonderful Winter Olympics. Unbelievable.
I remember this story very clearly, which is why I sought out this documentary. Such a complete tragic waste. These two lovers have been forever in my heart.

The underlying problem (even today, without war) is not a person, a group of people, or a "side". The problem is the idea of "blood", the idea that certain people belong in certain places, that some have lesser moral value than others. That is a trigger point for all evil deeds.
Great work putting this one up. I had forgotten about it, but it shouldn't be forgotten. A powerful and sad story. I wonder why PBS doesn't have this available on DVD or on their website?
Placem za sve nevine zrtve i za Marka i za Anta i za Izeta. Bila sam na odcmoru u Sarajevu i bila prihvacena kao nigde od strane Muslimana, uprkos protivljenju mojih roditelja jer su smatrali da jos nije bezbedno da idem sama. Pogresili su. Ovo dvoje mladih, hrabrih ljudi je dalo zrtvu da se to vise nikad ne ponovi i nece, buduce generacije ce biti pametnije od nasih roditelja. I neka im ovo bude pouka.

Thankyou for uploading this,it's a terribly sad story and highlights the many horrendous acts of war.In the film we see more footage taken at the time,which helps us try and visualise what it was like.Previously seen footage is just clips of footage taken.The first mass casualty scene,only a few seconds is ever shown,here we get to see the people across the street,one being the man with his foot blown off,his white trainer cut in half from toe to heal,his leg ending where his foot was.Terrible.
It's nice to see that some Balkan people didn't live along those idiotic lines of ethnic division.
I cried like 15 times during the hole movie. True love...
what ever happened to never again never forget? We the people of the world will always remember. Our government leaders may not but we as the citizens of the world will not forget. We are tired of governments telling us to hate an entire people. The world watched a nation implode not because of the people but because of leaders and a few extremists. We watched another holocaust in
Yugoslavia and said nothing. How have we as people learned from the past. No ONE SPOKE UP THEY ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN. THE WORLD ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN. WHERE WAS ISRAEL? A people were destroyed because of the hatred of a few. It was a nation that was very western and allowed to be destroyed and thousands murdered

I feel the pain of the Sarajevans who were involved in this siege of tragedy ... although I understand Serbian I feel more pain from that person whose in need of comfort.

I'm just shocked of words that I can't say anything
When you sit back and ask yourself how do people hate one another so much just because they may be of another religion or race what is it in us that makes us so bloody stupid? I watch this show and nothing changed in this world, we are just hateful of one another, if anything there's more hate in this world today, Muslims, Christians, Jews, and all in between and what's funny is when you dig down they all believe in the same god which makes it all the more stupid for those of us who don't see any evidence that any of the big religions god is anything more then a man made fairy tale written by those who wished to keep their slaves in line and believe that their place was somehow written in the stars. I think the sickest thing of all this is that there are so many people in this world who are still blinded by their slave mentality that they allow lies to keep being perpetuated century after century for those who look at hatred as great way to make a profit. If one does not believe my words all they need to do is look at what industry in the world makes the biggest profits year after year and it sure ain't the greeting card business. So when I receive all the negative comment's that I know I will from all those who hold onto their old ways of fear that if they give up their beliefs in some god they will become nothing I just take it told hart that old habits die hard and thankfully throughout the world rational thinking is becoming more and more common and the idiocy of religion is starting to die out. Just watch more and more of these video's, this is what your religions have brought this world death and hatred and nothing more so what good has done for man except keep people down and slaves of the mind.

It is not important if they were killed by a sniper or a rifle, in the end it is just important to keep in mind that the bullets came in from Serb positions and clearly the Serbs could not stand these two young people being in love so they killed them.
This is the story of only 2 people. There were thousands of other citizens of Sarajevo of many religions who also got killed by Serb bigots from 1992 to 1995...
Valid point but unfortunately, statistically the majority of Bosnian Serbs still support the wartime idea's of the Serb forces.
