Jamie Thomas grew up as a country bumpkin in the backwoods of Alabama, before being recognized at local contests by Vans, and Real Skateboards. He then moved to San Francisco, where he was homeless for a portion of time as he continued to establish himself as a skateboarder.
Bouncing between board brands like Experience and Invisible, Jamie is offered a place on the Flip team alongside Rune Glifberg, Geoff Rowley and Tom Penny, but turns this down for the opportunity to rebuild Toy Machine's team with Ed Templeton.
Later on, Zero is born from Andy Howell's company Zero Sophisto, and Andy gives Jamie his blessing to take Zero, and run with it, with the help of Tom Swank over at Tum Yeto.
Zero quickly becomes a board brand, picking up talented team riders such as Adrian Lopez, Chris Cole, Ryan Smith, Copelman, Marisa Del Santo, Windsor James, and others.
Together, the team put out some of the early 2000's most iconic videos, such as Thrill of it all, Dying to Live, Misled Youth, Strange World, No Cash Value, Cold War, and most recently, thrill of it all.
Nowadays, they have a stacked team with the likes of Tommy Sandoval, Garette Hill, Jamie, Chris Wimer, and even some Canadians, like JS Lapierre, Colin Lambert and Mikey Ray.

Word, Shorty's would be rad. I had a Peter Schmolick board way back in the day. Also had a Zero board to, but I broke the tail off doing a shuv it down a 4 stair.

Jamie Thomas was always one of my favorite skaters, but knowing that he went full on homeless just to keep skating gives me alot more respect for him
I think we can all agree that Tommy Sandovals "Promo" part was one of the heaviest for its time and still holds up to this day

Billy corgans zero jumper was an old zero skateboards jumper. He bought the rights to it
I loved ZERO growing up because they were one of the few brands that made 8x32 decks. I still have the pink, black and white ZERO logo deck from like 15 years ago.
Same dude I remember as a kid it was a struggle to find 8 inch decks. I have big feet so zero and toy machine were my 2 main brands since there was usually an 8 in stock at the skate shop

I remember those invisible tours. shit was nuts. had one at a skate shop in San Marcos, got crazy and cops shut it down so we all rolled down the street to a cul de sac a kid lived at and set up a few random manual pads and grind rails and started again... needless to say the neighbors weren't to happy about 50 some odd kids in the street and cops showed up again. caught a board one of the invisible guys threw to the crowd that day (can't remember who's board though). ahh to be young again, good times.

U forgot that young zero rider Dylan Jaeb.. been a fan of JT since day 1..have a zero tattoo on my back, most boards i had was zero, have few zero DVD collection & Chief wrote me a fan mail twice way back in d late 90s..im even ridin a Burman Pro model now..

7:24 I respectfully disagree. Mislead Youth was such a heavy video when it came out. I remember that video being the one that put Zero on the map. The Transworld Magazine Cover also came out about the same time.
I just saw "Damn It All" the other day for the first time. It is a quality Zero vid and excellent to the legacy.

It is definitely the same skull design. I don't know the origins or timeline of either usage, but I do remember noticing it way back in the 90's and seeing people discuss it online.

I would love to see one of these videos on Foundation skateboards. I remember them being fairly popular in the late 90's early 2000's because of Markovich and then kind of fading into the background... I didn't even realize that they still make boards, I had to look it up lol

I live in phenix city Alabama now. This is where jamie is from, also Reggie Kelly is from here as well. I got an Uber ride from his mom about a year ago ironically, and she talked about how her son lives near Jamie Thomas in Encinitas California. I’m originally born and raised in San Francisco and then san Diego.
