Ampeg has more body for sure. At first the Marshall didn’t sound too bad until the ampeg clip came in, then set the Marshall back to bland land 🤣 ampeg pwns!

Ampeg is early Suffocation and that tone slays the valvestate. More low-mids and chunkiness
They also did use the Valvestate on Pierced From Within, though. Souls to Deny tone is what I love, though, so I vote Ampeg.
@@Admiral_Bongo if I remember correctly from when I chatted with Terrance Hobbs, he actually mentioned the valvestate and a korg overdrive.

The Marshall for me, it sounds like a chainsaw in the best possible way. A bit more mids would have been nice, I have a VS8100 as well and I know it can generate a brutal sound but with more body like the Ampeg. I even like it just as much as my modded 6100 30th Anniversary, it's an insane amp for the money! Cool vids by the way, I started following you because of the awesome VS8100 content. Keep it up!

@@brokenlevelmusic happy to help! By the way, my favourite VS8100 guitar sound ever recorded, by a band from my hometown called Harrow. They were awesome back in the day. The production is huge for a ‘99 record and the Valvestate really stands out nicely, way different than on records by Death or Prong. 🤘🏼

Run my 8100 with the 'Contour' control at zero.
It's the least fizzy that way, and just get top-end from the 'Treble' control.
NO boost out front...but an EQ in the fx loop does wonders.

Love the Valvestate.
Ampeg - wider bottom end, muffy lower-mids... saggier.
Marshall - more shelved bottomed end, better mid & top end range.
Good comparison. I used to own the vh140c and the 8100. Eventually sold the ampeg cause it was worth a lot and the 8100 cut through a lot better with technical guitar riffs, the Ampeg got lost in a band mix. Still have the VHD pedal for that sound, sounds great by itself.

With a little Eq-ing ,(maybe a bit more mids on the marshall, just playing with the eq a bit) they could sound so close, a person would have a tough time telling the difference between the two.

I have Valvestate 8080, which is already awesome. But damn, that Ampeg has even maybe more crunchier mids?!
Ok. The contour was set pretty high up. One can get similar tone from the Marshall too.
I like them both. The Valvestate probably needs a different cab to really shine.
Nice vid! I have the same 150 head as well as two of the 140 heads and the vh70 combo. If you're ever looking to go the stereo amp route, I'm looking to trade one of my 140 stereo heads for a VH150. Same layout as yours with the knobs on the bottom

Don't disregard the valvestate the EQ knobs do actually work and can get a more balanced and meaty tone by adjusting bass, mid, treble and contour.
The vh150 has a way smoother distortion to it. I love the grind the 8100 has though.

both really cool sounds, marshall wins here for me, better highs. Ampeg a bit too muffled, maybe needs to be combined with a brighter speaker.

Good, just different, they are all cool, unique characteristics but kinda hard to explain, at least for me🤘
Much prefer the Marshall.
8100 sits better in mix, much better
The Marshall is legendary. The ampeg can't even compete. More like AmpEGG
