    This presents a problem to people with mental challenges. If a person has autism for example, they might struggle to establish and maintain eye contact; are sometimes incapable of reading body cues and facial expressions; have a monotone voice; may not understand very complex questions.....the issues vary from person to person. Having an in-person interview with them might help you see past the disability and really see the person's strengths. But this system automatically disqualifies a lot of people, who by the way, make fantastic employees. I think this will increase the discrimination of the atypical community who make excellent and loyal employees but often struggle with social skills.....think about it, would this system have enabled Elon Musk to pass the interview process, or would it have automatically disqualified him because he has aspergers and possesses some of the challenges listed above.

    While this may be the inevitable future of hiring, I find it rather dystopian. As many have already mentioned in the comments, there are plenty of people who will be at a disadvantage in this type of system. In addition, even if you know the means by which to "game" the system, the fact that I'm here to figure out what the AI is looking/listening for is gross. I used to consider myself a master of interviews because I was able to establish report with another human being. This system does not allow for that. There is no 2 way conversation, its just you talking to a box. A box that doesn't fundamentally understand what it is to feel and be and simply stares back at you.

    • @independentconsultant

      For some it's better, since people who live far or are in another city can interview and have the same treatment as others.
      And in general, companies are always looking for ways to reduce costs and hire better people so they'll be constantly looking out for new technology to achieve that.
      The right question is: are you willing to adapt

    Can I ask if you have any tips for passing an online multiple choice type of "personality traits" interview like Walt Disney World uses to get to the personal interview step? I worked at WDW twice before they implemented the online interview questionnaire and was always highly rated at work but I am trying to get hired back and keep failing the online questionnaire interview. One of the recruiters told me last time that my resume was incredible but i had to pass the online interview, she gave me a tip after asking if I answered neutral on any of the questions and when i said actually I did on quite few as none of the answers seemed appropriate to how I viewed the questions...she told me Oh the online test hates neutral it wants to see an answer. So perhaps that is my key...just thought you might have some further input.

      @@westheguitarist8546 Hi, well as I mentioned, I found out from an HR rep that the algorithm they use doesn't like "neutral" answers. As I am a retired Engineer with a very high IQ and outstanding reading comprehension skills, I found many of the questions to not really align well with any of the available answers so i answered the middle "neutral" on several. The next time I took the test I just eliminated the "neutral" answers and I passed.

      @@independentconsultant you can.. just don't work for a company that cops out and uses a a.i instead of having the patience to sit down and talk, face to face with a person. We are people, not machines. A.i's are useful, yes, but not in this way.

    • @independentconsultant
      @independentconsultant  4 года назад

      @@JG4Christ-n-Music it can be true but it also depends on your goals! Maybe you REALLY want to work at that company for many reasons but it's soo competitive they have to rely on AI to get through the 1000s of applications they get every time they post a new job!

    • @JG4Christ-n-Music
      @JG4Christ-n-Music 4 года назад +4

      @@independentconsultant Yes, it's true there are jobs out there with 1000's of people shooting for the same role and position. However, using a A.I to interview someone is a insult to regular, working people everywhere, because you are not going to end up working with a machine at the end of the day, you end up working with people. People you need to get to know on a day to day basis. It's a interesting concept, but this isn't cyberpunk 2077, this is 2020 and we are all still very human. If anything else, A.i should be used to determine whether a person is a real threat to his/her coworkers, or clients through psychological testing and evaluation, but not concerning whether the "regular joe" will get the job down the road or not, that role should still be left in the hands of hiring managers everywhere.

      Which is why using this to hire UXers is faulty. How is an AI suppose to understand empathy? It doesn’t. It just reads your lips, hears your words, and hirevue creates a transcribed memo of the interview, filters out keywords and makes the grade to score you low or high. It’s lame.
