This girl is living a tragic life. She thinks she's living a life full of promise but it's nothing but lies. Her boyfriend is a total sleaze and the most decent guy that I want to root for is nothing but another dipshit. He seems to have some feelings for this girl? It's heartbreaking. Love and kindness keep her trapped in a toxic life.
I thought so too, that he had some feelings for her, but he made it clear that's not the case when he gave away her hiding money in a book. He didn't have to share that, but he did it anyways, showing that he doesn't care about her.

I am an amateur film maker. I have sorted through the short film category on RUclips for a few months hoping to find something outstanding. And i have found some pretty good stuff along the way. Let me tell you what i found outstanding about this. The character casting....perfect. The sets....perfect. The lighting...perfect. The story....brilliant. The direction brought out what is probably the best performances i have seen so far on my short film explorations. And the talent of the actors must be off the charts because they were able to take the direction and perform beyond what was asked and added some magic to this production.... I would love to give you an award for this piece. One of the best or the best on RUclips. Thank you.
Jessie Buckley, Martin McCann and Ben Peel are of a much higher calibre than the average actor you find in a short. Buckley was nominated for an oscar last year.
Could it be that he told him about the book on purpose so that he would take the money from the book and then she would realize how bad of a person he was? It's not all 100% clear. Very haunting short film. Congrats to the people who made it!

JB is a phenomenal actress. In just under 11 minutes she captured my heart again like she did many times before in feature films I had seen starring her.

I knew immediately something was off about the guy with the whole savior complex. You never know someone’s true intentions, especially if they’re moving in on you while you’re already in a vulnerable position like she is. To me, I would think they see it as an opportunity, or in this case, where he was doing the pimp favor by making sure she wouldn’t run. Great short film!
I wondered if he genuinely wanted her to run away with him but got sour when she rejected his offer, but either way he was working for the pimp and is a lowlife aswell.

I don't think the guy who seemed to want her to run away with him had any intention of helping her. The whole thing was a set up. He was helping the pimp make sure she wouldn't leave which included checking any spare cash she was hiding which the pimp suspected. Very sad short about a woman genuinely trapped. The pimp was about to beat her at the end and find her spare money.
