I cannot put into words how much his choice affected me physically and mentally. I loved the quote in the comments section that @NedaGamer posted: "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle Thank you for an exquisite piece.
@@thisisme5487 if an educated mind is defined by its capacity to entertain thoughts without necessarily accepting them, this openness might lead to a deeper awareness of the complexities and nuances in various situations/consequences. this heightened awareness could potentially result in a sense of regret, as the individual recognizes the consequences of different choices or perspectives - and therefore not do it. one way this might happen is when later in life these perspectives change (as they often do) and regret sets in - i shouldve done it when i had the chance
@luciusrex If you entertain ideas or thoughts without accepting them, generally, that would mean there's no influence or change in your perception or behavior, just an expansion of ideas and possibilities. I think regrets come from a place of wishing things had been done differently. It would seem that the only regrets that would come from entertaining ideas without accepting them would be if some of them were so unacceptable that you regret entertaining them. But I see what you're saying. I just feel differently
@luciusrex Although on the contrary, entertaining some of the more unacceptable ideas has helped me broaden my view and have a perspective that helps me come to term with many difficult things. Including regrets.
This is powerful. He, in particular, is exquisite in depicting how temptation and lust build up within him, overtaking him when he signs the contract and how he eventually burns down the brainless desire that could have got him in trouble.
It’s twistedly presented that way so that the « act » versus « possible outcomes » are of unknown results. Bring in a signed « witness » to the contract and the whole situation changes.

Personally if a girl that I've recently just met brings up a contract/request like that during our first date, I'd feel uncomfortable, confused, possibly offended and likely just walk out. Not against the kink, but that sort of request requires an Extraordinary amount of trust. I mean, for any kink and fantasy, both parties must benefit from it. If neither does, then it's not worth doing it. Even men have their limits on their kinks too. Usually I'm up for anything to try out, but this is not something to joke or play around with for me. Like I've said, not against the kink. Whatever floats peoples boats. Just against the ignorance and lack of thought behind it. This is just my personal thoughts. Not being factual or anything. So basically guys, be careful who you trust. Extraordinarily careful~
Totally. If even the smallest thing goes wrong, it's very likely he would be thrown in jail and branded a rapist in this situation. Her risk was that she may have actually made a date with a genuine rapist or murderer. But the contract wouldn't have made a difference in that case. Every single takes that risk on a blind date.
I think the episode is suppose to portray our most personal thoughts that we wouldn’t openly speak about and it’s not negative, but definitely too early in a “relationship” to even request that. Lol
not really, they guy is always going to be a risk no matter how long they have known each other or the state of the relationship. metoo has had some real and unintended consequences
No. It's pretty dangerous to ask for it from a person she's had one date with. Neither should feel comfortable with this having only known each other for a few hours. This sort of thing requires trust. Legitimate, earned trust. Not blind trust.
@@TheSpacecraftX True. I have heard that it is not unusual for people to pay for role play partners that they don't know well either. I guess the fear of not knowing the outcome is part of the attraction. That is definitely a sign of a self destruction personality though....
Nah, but that defeats the point if she waits that long to ask. It would have not been as exhilarating to do it with someone she had already built a level of comfort and familiarity. The guy was right and I actually think it speaks volumes about society today. A woman can want anything she wants. It can be romanticized. 50 shades was a best seller for a reason.
@@butlerproman basically, having a fetish for causing pain sexually is seen as worse than having a fetish for being caused pain sexually. Simple as that.
I'm 4 minutes in and I'm cringing because someone has to introduce that woman to the kink community. This sort of play is not that unheard of, but it requires trust, connection and clear communication. They would basically want to get more connected and build up a bit more slowly. Also, establish a clear safeword, and make sure both participants are comfortable using it if they have to, without feeling pressured to continue to please their partner.
That's what my thought was, she may have the idea that a stranger is more xciting but the contact proves she wants some trust! I would have been way to worried about a trick or another person mentioned organ harvesting. I'd want few dates at least first we to see if you are compatible, then fantasies can come out, not difficult to role play a stranger and go into what she's asking as long as both trust each other. Hopefully people agree and I'm not a deviant myself?
@@jameshunter4386 Yeah no I get you. And being a guy myself I'd be sus even AFTER knowing her for a while. But something like this? First date? Second date? ... Pre marriage at that? Hell no. Ain't, Worth. the risk. Moral dilemmas aside, even. Then again I might be a whole ton more vanilla than most folk, but in times like these I'd wager it's better safe than sorry.
I had a girlfriend once that wanted me to be more assertive and less gentlemanly in the bedroom once, ie. she wanted me to force myself on her. I think the subconscious thinking might have been that she felt more wanted or desired by that. This one however takes that concept to a whole new level. I'm not sure I could be certain what such a woman's motivations might be. I would abstain. Oh and these short films are meant to be thought provoking, and one couldn't argue that they achieved that.
I know this isn't the point of the video, but waitresses and waiters LITERALLY interrupt at the worst times - I get you're doing your job but if two people are in the middle of a conversation its kind of courtesy to wait - you have other tables to serve.
Talking Cracker Except that when you don’t suddenly they’ll complain that they haven’t you...OR sometimes people don’t ever shut up and then you’d never, ever be able to take anyone’s order...OR if she went and waited on the other tables and they’re talking then what? Especially they are busy. I don’t think the chalk board and the way she interrupted were right, she could have done it less intrusively but she can’t wait until every single person has stopped talking bc then she’d never be able to take anyone’s order
usually bosses force their employees to check wayyyy too much. so it’s usually not our choice, darling. we have bosses too, and if they see us just standing around they start being very rude or annoying and forcing us to “make the rounds” to all our tables even though everyone is totally fine at their table haha. the boss is the boss.
Comments like this one illustrate why being a server is such a stressful job. Every customer is different, yet most of them expect their server to somehow know what their preferred dining experience is. As an example, let's say that a server gets three new tables: the first table is two people who haven't seen each other in a long time, the second table is two business associates on their lunch break, and the third table is two friends who looked at Yelp before coming in and already decided what they want. Obviously no server is capable of staring at each table in their section to see if they've looked at the menu, so after the average amount of time it takes most customers to decide what they want the server notices that the Old Friend's menus are placed down on the table and assumes that they're ready to order, but the server gets reprimanded for not knowing that they intend to talk for 20 minutes before even looking at the menu. The server then approaches the Business Lunch table and their menu is also down on the table, so the server asks for their order but they're still talking business and get upset for being interrupted. The server then sees that the Yelp table hasn't even touched their menu, and after experiencing hostility from the other two tables the server decides to wait to take their order, but the third table knew what they wanted before walking in and for some reason didn't give him/her their food order at the same time as they ordered drinks. Obviously the server has more than three tables to deal with so they focus on tables that have immediate needs. While they're away the Business Lunch table notices how little time they have left in their break and quickly decide on getting the first thing that looks good in order to save time. Now that they realize that they're in a rush in seems like ages since they scolded the server for originally trying to get their order, so they get up and complain to the manager. The third table has already left because writing a sassy Yelp review is more rewarding than having to acknowledge that their unorthodox behavior was confusing. So at the end of the day the Yelp table got pissed for never picking up the menu and assuming the server can read minds, the Business Lunch Table got pissed for assuming that when you tell someone to go away they'll be able to read your mind and come back with exactly enough time for you to get back to work, and the Old Friend's table ended up sitting there sipping on an iced tea for an hour after you were supposed to get off work. You know what the problem with the service industry is? It's you. Not the specific "you", the general "you". If everyone in the world was the "specific you" then every server in the world would know exactly what the customer wants (or doesn't want) exactly when they wanted it. But each one of "you" is different, and each one of "you" gets upset when the server doesn't correctly assume what your preferred dining experience is. Believe it or not, some customers get upset when you don't interrupt their conversation, "Where is the goddamn waiter/waitress?!" and some do, "Can't you see we're having a conversation here?!" I'm sure the "specific you" has an opinion as to which of those customers is wrong, but it doesn't matter, because the customer is always right... and the customer is always different.
I guess I'm the only one who saw this as a lesson in contract negotiation. You don't have to sign any contract as written but can modify it to better cover your interests.
This is about sexual fantasies related to trust and control. People commenting here that there are flaws in the contract, are missing the point. The guy mentions it to her and he is the one that actually brings up all the details she has forgotten to include: sth that highlights that he acts in a protective mode towards her, and she trusts him regardless of the flaws. With regards to the particular fantasy again, it is about control/domination again by the guy to the woman. He needs to want to experience that and she on her part 1. trusts that she can do it with him and 2. feels that she ultimately controls him, since this situation means that he cannot control his urges around her to the point that he can break taboos/rules etc. The fact that he burns the contract in the end, confirms that she was right to trust him :) but also that he can still control his impulses around her.
I think the burning part is just him thinking "Nah this is just too risky." The fact that he gives so many good points in the flaws of her contract should already prove how trustworthy he is. P.S: That bit where he stopped the burning anyways made me laugh.
This is what it's always about, for both people, in this type of kink: Trust, control, and mutual excitement. The acting is great and they both seem super-genuine. In a long-term relationship, this kind of thing was extremely intimate, but you're still ready at a moment's notice to stop and ask "are you okay?" if anything feels off. I can't imagine being a complete stranger, not intimately knowing someone, and still doing this. I think this guy really sold it with his expressions and attitude! Kinda gave me the chilly-warm-fuzzies just watching.
A few things. Firstly, such a wonderfully crafted Short. Hats off to the actors and staging. Secondly, I believe it wrong to instigate such behaviour with a fellow stranger especially in such a setting/first date. The contract implies he is free to do whatever; but, with society now as backwards as ever, mere pieces of paper would not allow him off the hook if she suddenly decides to take matters into her own hands. It would be an outrage if the roles were in reversal; she would naturally be freaked and possibly more than likely walk out and report him. But, such fantasies do exist I can only imagine. Would potentially trying such fantasies with someone you respected/loved be a criminal act for anybody whom wholly wishes to pursue it? Perhaps not.
I believe acting out a fantasy like this is not a crime because the fact two parties are agreeing to do it means they consent, its very clear cut, as long as both sides respect the limitations each other set up its OK. I mean there are even man who sign up to be dominated and humiliated by women (or other men), the whole sketch here is more about the guy's moral dilema than the act itself imo, its a great short.
The problem lies in the courts focusing more on consequence instead of intent in this day and age. It doesn't seem to matter if you didn't intend for something to happen, only that the consequences are perhaps physical/mental damage were that to happen and she were to pursue him in the courts.
He is extremely vulnerable. If she decided for any reason,( let's say jealousy for instance) that she was going to screw him over by saying she said no but he kept going. There is great potential that he could end up in jail and with a record. He is far far more vulnerable to a conviction than she is. It is not a balanced situation.

Thank you for an exquisite piece.
ergo the educated mind is the one full of regrets. - some guy on the internets
@@luciusrex What's the connection between the educated mind in this quote and being full of regrets?

I don't think I have ever seen a profile photo which matches so well, the statement written by said person.

A big part of the contract was to protect him, not just her. Otherwise she could falsely accuse him.
Which means she wants a second date.
Consent makes the difference. Trust was missing. The lawyer was too afraid of a trap.
"that's a real insight into girls..."
My friend, that's only the tip of the iceberg. Crazy stars at childhood.
Thank God he had enough sense to turn down that psycho.
