Check around 18:12 they have a discussion about touching and she raises her hands expecting like a shake and he totally misses it. hahahah us awkward people have all been there where we try to give a handshake or fist bump at the wrong time lol.
I like the character progression displayed here. Jess at the beginning said that she constantly checks on her phone, yet throughout their convo, she hasn't reached for her phone once. Paul, told a story about how he's a wallflower and that he didn't have anyone to dance with at the prom, but by the end of it he asked Jess to dance
This is the kind of story you dream of happening. Unfortunately, I'm almost 70 years old and I still dream of that kind of connection. Thank you for bringing this story to us.

@Jacob Hiller: I don't know, the touching moments seemed pretty artificial and stiff to me, but maybe I'm not properly visualizing how that's supposed to look from my perspective. Overall the body language looked ok, but it didn't strike me as particularly skillful or brilliant.
You should see the film "Destination Wedding" with Winona Rider and Keanu Reeves...This as a movie...the only actual heard dialogue is the two main characters.
The producing was so good that they only needed a background, some props and only 2 great actors to pull off one of the most captivating conversations I have ever heard
Arent we going to talk about the type of person she is? She litteraly one of the most likeable types of people there is , everyone of us has met someone like her
Some of us have such natural "charm" that we drive people like her away. I really like her. And by some of us I mean me. And by natural charm I mean completely gobsmacked, tongue tied. Dunno what to talk about and yet I met this beautiful woman a few years ago, we had good conversation, then we kinda drifted apart. Now I see her regularly again. She looks a lot like the woman here. And I am so keen to make it work with her but I am hopeless at knowing what to say. We chatted well before because I hadn't thought of her romantically but now that I am, I get tongue-tied, I mean what's with that.
The female character made me feel she's hilarious. The male is as effective. Good script, great acting. A nice thing off to a good start. Wish this short film was developed into a full romantic movie.
This was perfect. It wasn't too long, it wasn't too short, I loved the characters and the character progression. I love the actors, the set, the way it made you feel like there was actually a wedding reception going on off screen. I love the stories and the conversation. It was relaxing and exciting, and then you hit the let down at the end when she starts walking away. Only to be brought back full circle and finding somebody to dance with. Freakin' perfect.
know where the real respect came?? when he told her about the unnecessary touching she actually had her hand up for like a high five or handshake or something, she cued him at that point and he totally missed it... then you could tell he realized super late and felt awkward about it, THEN she was like "ok lets try this again" and tapped him. lol that was definite effort. she was hinting at him the whole time and he was just missing it poor fella. hope he lives up to her expectations
There is a movie where a jury fights over if a 17 year old kid committed murder that I saw in language arts. I'm not sure about the name of the movie but it is similar in the sense of them just in the room for the entire movie
@Apocalyps: Well, if a conversation is interesting, people don't necessarily mind hearing it. Just have a fancy background and fancy lighting, and it's conceivable, and doesn't necessarily require brilliance.
The guy valued his friendship over his love life, if he didn't he wouldn't come late alone be his best man. Your bestfriend and your ex, damn this is a heart wrenching situation.
Kind of weird how often I’ve watched this. And how each year, at random moments, the urge to just be in their space emerges spontaneously. A testament to how good this actually is!
"He finally found someone to dance with." Wasn't his way of saying "Good for him, he found love" he was actually saying "He finally left me, and I have to let him go."
This is absolutely amazing. So innocent and cute. He is introverted, and she is an ambivert. Both are a bit shy but very respectful and playful. Lovely to watch.
I have had that happen to me. A nice conversation, hitting it off with someone nice and all of a sudden the word "boyfriend" slaps you back to reality so fast you feel like you fell back to earth after soaring too high.
There's better acting, chemistry, and dialogue in these twenty-one minutes and thirty-four seconds than dozens of Hollywood produced movies. Absolutely masterful filmmaking.
God this is what I really want. I just want to muster the courage to talk to someone, and hit it off with them even if the beginning is as awkward as possible. This was fantastic. They were just having a conversation but the chemistry was palpable. This is so romantic, in the simplest way possible. Thank you so much!
At least 1 re-watch is rewarding just to watch the little bits you may miss the first time. The ways she keeps expressing interest and his little expressions talking about the bridal couple before the reveal.
When he had earlier said that he never gathered the courage to ask anyone out in his highschool days ... and at the end she was about to leave under the pretext of catching up with her friend... I think what she really intended to see.. was, whether he's still that shy guy from the highschool or whether he musters up the courage to finally ask someone out.. that is, to finally ask her out.. which he does... and suddenly she ain't looking for her friend anymore... and immediately agrees to dance with him..!!!
it doesnt have to be. maybe she was just getting a break and trying to avoid awkward moments of silence. and since you dont have to talk anything while you are dancing...
Also, the glaring eyes she gave him when she was about to leave says it all that all she wanted was for him to ask her to dance and to see his reaction for her leaving.
@@DInfXsMD Ok, so. No and no. It is because it takes to much time for most mainstream shows to have this much character depth. And it requires to have actors that can carry a scene for this long. Because as much as this seems simple, one location and one scene, this is actually the most complicated thing to film ever. The setup time for this alone would be next to impossible to get in a mainstream show.
Oh my gosh I am fangirling! I found this short film at random and was completely shocked. In all my years, out of all the films and books, I have never found such a organic and adorably awkward conversation. It was beautiful, and the pacing was perfect, each pause purposeful and natural. I felt like one of the guests who was creepily watching their interaction from the side. Within seconds, I was way too invested in these believable, complex characters and wanted them to find happiness together. It almost made me cry, and never has a short film touched me like this. I didn't want it to be over, and now I will be rewatching it and forcing it upon everyone I know. They don't know whats to come. Mwahaha. Thank you.
You're implying that the last one, will be the one till death...But what if your last love ended when you were 29 and you had everything you wanted and it still didn't worked. Now, 9 years of horsing around. All my friends are married, got kids and are way too busy for me. The confidence of youth is gone, time still leaps forwards and way more quickly than I want to admit. I've been with a lot of women, loved some of em. But for me, as of now, first love is still the best because the last one still hurts like a gunshot through and through my heart. Cheers!!
That swallowed "mine" at 15:12 gave me the chills. He choked on that word so faintly, so natural in a conversation about such a dear person. Great actor
She looks and acts like the perfect girlfriend. Her smile was mesmerizing. He had a vulnerability that wasn't pathetic, just showed a hint of sadness. This was wonderfully acted. I love simple character driven films. Watching their eye movements and body language tells so much. I'm glad he asked her to dance. Fantastic film.
The Hollywood romcom goons should watch this and realize that they don't need all those fancy locations, big actors and formulaic writings... Magic can be created in one shot.
Pen Muni see the film Destination Wedding with Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder. Two people meet during a destination wedding, one is the groom's brother, the other is his ex. They are the only people who can be heard during the entire movie, everyone else is background noise. Most scenes are shot exactly like this, fixed camera long takes.
Jess' pivot and expression when Paul called her name!!! The actor sold that completely, as well as how avidly she wanted a physical contact that wasn't accidental, whatsoever. Brilliant and moving!!!
I’ve seen this short a thousand times and still can’t get over how good it is. The script is sharp, acting brilliant, production 👌🏾 I’d watch other films with these two in it because they’re real good actors.
His personality reminded me so much of my husband's. A little shy until you get him going. We are both ambiverts ( both introvert/extrovert depending on mood, company, atmosphere, ect ) and I kinda got that vibe from the Jessie character as well. Loved every minute of this.

After 4th time going there, when I pay my check, I slipped her my phone number with bill. She texted me 3 weeks later and wish me a Happy New Year. From then on, we’ve been together for 4 years
I like the camera work, how the actors when they are strangers they feel a bit far away but as the conversation progress, they warm up to each other the camera sort of brings them close and we feel their warmth towards each other. At first, they were open to the world and by the end, they are in their own cocoon.

What a great little film. Absolutely top notch. I could watch these two in conversation any time.

@Jacob Hiller: I don't know, the touching moments seemed pretty artificial and stiff to me, but maybe I'm not properly visualizing how that's supposed to look from my perspective. Overall the body language looked ok, but it didn't strike me as particularly skillful or brilliant.

That was the most awkward, adorable, yet realistic conversation I think I’ve ever seen.

It should be no more than 7 minutes
Respect to the woman for having the courage to start the conversation and making efforts
damn right.
know where the real respect came?? when he told her about the unnecessary touching she actually had her hand up for like a high five or handshake or something, she cued him at that point and he totally missed it... then you could tell he realized super late and felt awkward about it, THEN she was like "ok lets try this again" and tapped him. lol that was definite effort. she was hinting at him the whole time and he was just missing it poor fella. hope he lives up to her expectations

When he had earlier said that he never gathered the courage to ask anyone out in his highschool days ... and at the end she was about to leave under the pretext of catching up with her friend... it doesnt have to be. maybe she was just getting a break and trying to avoid awkward moments of silence. and since you dont have to talk anything while you are dancing...
Also, the glaring eyes she gave him when she was about to leave says it all that all she wanted was for him to ask her to dance and to see his reaction for her leaving.

Oh my gosh I am fangirling! I found this short film at random and was completely shocked. In all my years, out of all the films and books, I have never found such a organic and adorably awkward conversation. It was beautiful, and the pacing was perfect, each pause purposeful and natural.
