Diy: Upcycling An Old Spray Paint Can Into A Robotc

- I had this old spray paint can laying around and I thought it would be fun to make a robot out of the spray can. This little guy ended up having way more personality than I expected and has quickly become one of my favorites upcycling builds!
In this DIY custom scratch build I will walk through the steps of how I took an ol spray paint can, a gachapon capsule, polystyrene and some wood stock. Oh, I even added some LED eyes!

Have you ever watched the movie Robots? Robin Williams and Ewan MacGregor add their voice talents. This little guy immediately brought that to mind.

I absolutely love this. This style of robot hits just right. If you've ever seen the 1940s Superman cartoon "The Mechanical Monsters" or all the 1940s Warner Bros. cartoons with robots, that's the style that I love!

This is so good! One of the best found object assemblage type sculpture pieces I've seen in some time. 'You've really set that little bit of brain ticking that tries to design this sort of thing. I'll have to have a go at one of my projects again soon

Have you looked at hangers with the size tag on the hanger it's a cool shape and they are on almost all clothes you can buy

CMS Magnetics, the magnets I was getting on Amazon were just too weak!
Here's what I use:
ND019-52N N52 Dia 1/4x1/8" Small Disc Neodymium Magnet | Rare Earth Magnet
This bot totally looks like the main character from the Ewan McGregor featured animated movie of many years ago called "Robots". Check the animated movie out and you'll see what I mean.
The resemblance is uncanny. There are several other bots in the movie which would also be great inspiration for builds.
I have seen that bit years and years ago… I will need to rewatch it!😃
What is that silver paint ? Cool😮
Nothing fancy just some Valspar spray paint, brilliant metal silver.
Do you have any tips for waterslide decals? I always seem to tear them while transferring them to my model kits. My latest model im free handing the pinstripes because i have such a hard time with the waterslides.
I have seen a guy that will do a coat of clear gloss spay over his decals to make them stronger. That may help.
He’s one of my favorites but I think he needs knees! Say that 5X real fast! 😅
