If you found this video helpful, please do help me share it by at least giving it a thumbs-up and maybe even subscribe and tell your friends so I can keep them FREE!!! Thanks very much - I really appreciate it.
Can't believe there are so few likes for this series of tutorials. Been scouring youtube for photography vids for about 9 months now and these are by far the best I've come across.
I agree!
REALLY the best!!
Yes, even an in-person course I took can not keep up with this. Partially because I was completely new to photography, partially because video is a better medium to visualize pictures than photocopied handouts in b/w are, but surely because the lecture is well thought out and consistent in every detail.
Maybe slowing down a bit while talking would make it even better: The passion to cram a lot of information in a short video is graspable, but we'll watch this if it's a minute longer.
Right? Nice pace, concise and practical information for the beginner, but also great for filling in gaps (Ty: metering and histogram) for the intermediate student.
@@matthiaswiegand1654 Agreed. It's closer to private lessons because you can pause it or slow it down when needed.
Finally there is a tutor who explains photography simply, cleary and without overloading information. As a qualified and experienced trainer and assessor I'm appreciating this channel. Great work.
What kinda of a sico actually would dislike this video!! It's the best of the best. Thank you so much Chris for taking the time and effort to put on these amazing tutorials online for FREE! God bless you man, stay safe 🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it! haha, I agree with you! But I am bias haha =)
I've spent three weeks in an in person photography class being confused. I wish I'd found these tutorials before I signed up as they've been a lot more helpful. The info in tutorials 2,3,4 have not been covered in class, and they contain aspects I've been wondering about for a long time, and which I feel are incredibly helpful before moving on to shutter speed and aperture control. Thank you very much! You seem to fit so much into these tutorials, you must have been thinking and planning them for a while before making them. What a lot of work has gone into them, with the end result being something so simple and easily understood. Amazing!
Thanks! Thats great to hear! And yes you're right, each of these sections are pretty info-dense and refined as much as I could over about 7 years of teaching this same course in person, always tweaking and improving .... until I decided to stop doing them in person and just put it online for free! Was best move ever, now people from all over the world can see it and some still come on photo tours or buy my course booklet in support etc =)
So much hard work has gone behind the scenes to present this easily digestible material. Five stars for content and delivery.
Im so glad you appreciate it. Cheers man!
This is a fabulous tutorial thank you. I have watched about 32 million and none of them have clicked with me like this one did. So easy to understand. Thank you.
You're very welcome! That's kind of you to take the time to say so, I appreciate it =)
Could anyone really top your tutorials? Doubt it. Everything is on point: language, tone, pace, info, analogies, examples, the lot! You explain well, in ways that are easy to understand even to the non-technically savvy and keep one engaged throughout. Thanks for sharing your knowledge the way you do.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a lovely message to say thanks =) I appreciate it.
Its incredible how much information is in this video, and you explain everything in a way that’s so easy to understand. Amazing content!
Best explanation of a camera I've come across ... WEll done can't believe this is FREE! . Thanks again excellent teacher
You're welcome!
Your ability to explain it simple is remarkable,
This instructor is amazingly clear.
He truly teaches and he knows his subject.
I am extremely thankful, I found his videos. Thank you very much!!!
You are the best instructor. I have learned more in just one class than past 3 years trying figure out how things work.the way you simply explain and all the animations are amazing. Also you explain so simply so everyone can understand, not everyone is a pro . So thank you for simplifying and explain so clearly. Awesome videos .i have recommended these to all of student on my photography class.
Excellent Job. I've taken several photography courses. This was very concise. I will pass this onto friends who would like to learn DSLR (and Mirrorless) fundamentals. This focuses on the essential photography techniques and not on all the new (really not that important) features that today's cameras have.
Awesome, thank you! Thanks for helping share it to your friends too, I really appreciate it!
I have always been wary of digital SLRs as being too complicated but your simple and easy to follow instruction has inspired me to buy my first one! Can't wait for the rest of the videos and have put myself on a waiting list for your day long course to run in Canberra. Thank you.
I'm taking photography lessons right now and watching youtube to better my knowledge. This is the best tutorial I have come across, thank you and keep up the good work pls.
The best tutorials I found on the web. Very WELL DONE.
Thanks.
You make things so easy to understand. Watched many tutorials but your lectures are interesting yet easily understandable especially due to the exmples you show in the run time. LOVE from Pakistan
Best photography lessons in RUclips 👍👍👌
Glad you think so!
Watching these videos made everything click! Great stuff! Thank you! Looking forward to finishing this series!
Love your way of simple to understand teaching. Learned so much from your tutorials and have been doing photography for years.
Great to hear!
The way of presenting the information through the animation is really great. One can forget by listening but the way you have presented the aperture and light falling into the bucket is unforgettable. Loved it!!
Very good info. This is a video for everyone who is starting out. Next best thing to getting a personal teacher.
Your my ideal as a beginner in photography. Thank you sir for making such a useful tutorial.
These are fantastic training/tutorial videos, thanks for the help Chris.
Finally and easy and simple explanation about histogram, how it works and how to use it.
Fantastic Photography course.
Thanks Chris
You're welcome! Histograms are actually super easy and useful hey!
This is hands down the best tutorial on metering and histograms..I was always left confused after all the other tutorials on histograms that I watched...but this one just cleared everything for me..histogram is finally my best friend..
Finally a channel that is not a gear review but a real class of taking good photos.
=) Thanks!
I have look all over the net to find a good video on Photograph and Chris Bray is the best I have come across.
Wow! I'm new to photography and have watched a ton of videos in the past few weeks, but this series, and this video in particular (haven't watched the rest at this point), is fantastic for us beginners. The segment on the histogram is the first time I've seen someone explain it in such a way that is incredibly easy to understand. I can't wait to watch the rest of these!
so i have seen this tutorial thrice and when you actually hold a real camera you have to come up again listen to each instruction and try it while listening . it makes it more worthwhile . thank you chris i dont have a real camera right now but u have inspired me to get one because there are amazing teachers like you .
Im a youtube junkie when it comes to learning. I've watched tens of thousands of tutorials and yours are hands down the best I've ever seen. Well done.
Thanks very much Matt! =) That's kind of you to write. Please help me build some followers by sharing these videos if you can! =) Im slowly putting all the remaining videos on RUclips, but they are already all available on my website for $5/each to stream... =)
Incredibly valuable information taught in such a simple way! Thank you so much! The best tutorial I've come across!
Fantastic tutorial series Chris! Thank you so much for these clear, concise walkthroughs.
What a brilliant teacher you are! New to cameras and watching a ton of content on RUclips. This is by far the most comprehensive course I have found! Thank you SO much!
I have been binge watching this series, and so far I am seriously impressed with you! These videos are very informative, and your voice and disposition are very welcoming, friendly, and relaxing.
The best introductory class in photography. End of. Logical, organized, and simple - may be it is the engineer in Chris. Thank you!
This is incredibly helpful and easy to understand. I'm in school and have a photography class and the info in this video made these modes, especially f-stop, make more sense. I actually practiced the aperture mode while watching and YES I could see the difference in the depth of field. THANK YOU!
Thanks very much =) Part # 6 (Shutter Speed & Movement) and # 7 (ISO) are now on our website chrisbrayphotography.com/learn/ for $5 each for a week's rental/viewing. You can also get the course handbook (as a physical book, or we just released it as an iBook to on the Apple iBook store), and the summary clip cards. If you've enjoyed the free series to far, please help support me finishing editing together the final 3 videos! =) I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, much appreciated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! I had fast forwarded past the section on Histograms on another video on RUclips just a few days ago because I dreaded having to figure it out. But you explained it very simply in a way I could understand. I also appreciate the segment on metering. I so appreciate you making these awesome videos. THANK YOU!
You're welcome! Haha thats great! =) Im glad. Have a good week!
I seen lots of photography videos on youtube but the way you explain things fantabulous.
You are absolutely the best photography instructor on the web! Thank you for your RUclips tutorials. You've saved me so much time.
Great to hear, thanks very much Lisa! Come on one of our photo tours maybe oneday!? =)
@@ChrisBrayPhotography Yes, definitely! It's on my list of things to do one day. :)
I love your videos! Everything you are explaining is clear and straight to the point. By far the best tutorials I have found.
What a great analogy of the exposure and the paint cans. Thank you very much. practice, practice, practice.
Im glad you liked that one! =) I appreciate it - it helps make it worthwhile =) You might also find the course booklet that goes with the video series handy too (either the physical book, or the iBook, both available on chrisbrayphotography.com/) along with my summary clip-cards (or app!). Thanks very much for your support, have a great week & keep practicing! Maybe we can meet one day if you join one of my photo tours around the world? =)
Completely agree with Graham's comments below. Reminded me (and with great accuracy) what I had forgotten since my last photography class.. now that I am not using fully manual film types anymore, I had to re-learn how these digital types "work", so to speak. GREAT tutorials - well designed learning. Cheers..
Thanks Chris. I've watched literary thousands of this type of videos. Your Videos are actually the ONLY ones i actually learnt Photography.
I am just recapping what i know to sharpen up my knowledge and these videos just made that recap a whole lot easier. Thanks.
Awesome, thank you!
This is the best series of videos I have found on all of RUclips!
I've just got my bridge camera (Canon Powershot SX540 HS) and I have been watching your videos to learn how to use it. Your teaching is very comprehensive. You can't make it easier and simpler. Thank you!!!
It's an amazing thing to be doing, empowering so many people with understanding and therefore confidence to do what makes them happy! Thank you for taking the time to make this series!
Thank you Pia, that's lovely
One of the best photo tutors , if not the best.Thank you Chris !!!
So appreciative of the info you impart and the way you impart it Chris. Really helpful and encourages me rather than confuses or bombard me. Thank you so much
One of the best. The best tutorials. I would say. which everyone interested in photography should watch. Thanks for making this accessible for free on youtube. Appreciate it.
Thanks Shyam! =)
Chris, you've made a brilliant series for beginners! Thank you!:)
There is so much online and a lot of youtube videos make me feel like my head is all over the place but you have introduced the basics to me in such a calm manner that I actually feel like I am getting a hold of this stuff.. Thanks Chris!! Stellar series
Thanks Sasha! Im glad!
Exactly the knowledge that I've been looking for. Thanks a lot for these!
Simple and perfect explanations in terms of exposure and metering. By far the best tutorial on youtube!
Im glad you think so! =)
Great clear tutorial Chris - many thanks - superb teaching mode and voice at a speed that allows the listener and watcher to actually hear and understand what you are saying. Most good photographers speak so fast that it is impossible to understand what they are saying or they continually throw their arms about, take off a jumper, clapping hands etc! Really enjoyed this video - thanks again.
What a wonderful course! Perfect for beginners, so like me 😊 thank you soooo much
Thank you Chris Bray, really easy to follow tutorials. So well explained and useful.
Im watching all the ads on your videos because I appreciate what you are teaching. Oh and a like. Many thanks.
Such a great teacher. The best I've come across.
Thanks very much =)
Thank you soo much for making these videos. I finally understand what all the buttons on my camera are for and how to use them.🙏🏻
You're welcome Florence! Thanks for saying thanks!
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate these. Really phenomenal job I’ve learned so much already 🙏🏼 fantastic teacher
Best lecture ever thank you.
Very good. I've always been at a loss whenever I heard the term "middle-grey" (thinking of grey as a color and never in terms of brightness or darkness) in any of the photography videos I've previously watched here but now that in this (above) video I learn that "middle-gray" means mid-brightness (middle point from the darkest to the brightest) it is all clear to me now and much easier to comprehend. Also, this video has contributed a lot to understanding how my camera processes exposure. Thank you.
one of the best tutorial series I've seen!! Thanks Chris !!
This is best photography channel on whole RUclips, definitely going to promote your channel. I wonder why your channel is under 1 million subscribers
Just purchased the D500, with a 200mm-500mm nikkor lens. As it's a joint Christmas and birthday present, I'm not using it till then. So I've been watching your videos, trying to get a better understanding of the basics, again. I must say your videos are clear and understandable. I've enjoyed watching them and hopefully when I eventually get to grips, with my new, upgrade, I will be able to carry out these terrific tips, you give out. Thanks Chris!! 👍
A very useful course thank you so much for that Chris !
I'm taking a college course and have looked at other video's and read articles but you make it simple to understand. Thank you, you explain things very well. Had to lol at the "back on a real camera".
Just wanted to let you know i really appreciate your tutorials. Thank you
Chris, you are without a doubt THE BEST teacher for camera settings I have EVER seen. There is only one problem. I think I will have to call my adult kids and have them put a time limit on my screen time ... I can't stop watching and I am not getting my work done!
LOL. Screen time fail! =P Just buy my book on the course instead, then you can read even when the kids ban you from the screen! =P
The best tutorial for photography in youtube..thanks man
Chris) Once again, want to tell you that this is one of the #BestTutorialsOnPhotography ! Thank you ! I'm going to watch this over and over again
Excellent tutorial. I like the way you use graphics as you speak to illustrate the point. I’ll be watching more of your videos. Thanks
This guy is amazing during quarantine I was bored so decided it would be cool to learn photography and he made it so fun and easy to learn, now absolutely love photography.
Chris thanks you very much for this free video course.Once again you explained everything so precised and wonderfully!

The video is absolute gold. Thanks so much for this
I've been watching videos by all kinds of people for weeks and getting more and more confused. Thank you, thank you, thank you Chris Bray.
Chris is very good...he explained seems complicated subject (for me) in a very simple understandable way. Thanks for the video!
Thanks very much!
one of the best photography teaching videos I've watched on youtube!!
good way to explain this without going into stops of light and how to compensate to stops / calculations.
Chris thank you for your good work... Keep it up buddy.
Your tutorial video are very helpful, for the past 3 months I found myself interesting in photography and making RUclips videos and I search "photography course " on RUclips and your videos are the first one pop up. Keep up the good work.
Great to hear!
Great Job Chris and Thank You for sharing very helpful content explained at the perfect pace
excellent video series. thanks so much for making it free for us!
Really well explained and simple to follow am now sticking with Chris and these courses as I know I will learn what I need a lot easier. Great work 👍🏻
Great set of videos. Really love the presentation. It is technical enough but very practice-oriented and not too condensed. I like your approach where you coax your listener to actually try things instead of getting too focused on minor details. Truly inspiring.
Thanks so much!
Have recently watched a few of your videos and I find them very good. Much I already know but I have learnt bits and pieces also, so keep up the good work...
Well done Chris. Easy to understand...good examples.
Thank you very much, this is by far the most comprehensive course for beginners on entire youtube!

I agree, lol. But I might be bias. Haha. =) Please help tell people for me!
