I absolutely love the bard. It's the best at buffing the team, casts mean spells, is great in social encounters, and has really good weapon training too. In my campaign I actually play as a front-line DPS bard. When I bust out a spell my GM comments "oh right, I forgot you're a full spellcaster too".
With 5e, there are a handful of classes I genuinely enjoy. The downside being there are also classes I've just never felt any inclination toward. With PF2E, even classes I have no interest in with other systems, I've got a handful of builds for each of 'em that I'd love to play. Weirdly, the ones that jump out at me most have almost no overlap with their 5e equivalents. (This isn't me attacking 5e; it's just the most readily accessible point of comparison.)
Just wait until you start doing multiclass/using archetypes! It gets REALLY crazy then! Basically if you can think of something there's PROBABLY a way to do it in Pathfinder, and not just SAYING "Hey, my character is [X, Y, or Z]" and the DM is like "Yeah ok!" and that's the end of your cool concept!
Excited to see what ya'll think of my absolute favorite implimentation of my favorite class. Inspire Courage is so very good imo. In a recent session, I used it it with the Demoralize action and was able to turn a regular hit for our Barbarian into a crit!
0:55 I think of "Oi, Sir?! What are you doing?" "Uh... trudging! You know, trudging? To trudge, the slow, weary, depressing, yet determined walk of a man who has nothing left in his life except the impulse to simply soldier on." I LOVE ALL those guys from A Knight's Tale, AND the movie as well!!! I miss Ledger though.
The best thing in bards I think the duality: They can be fun, cheerful, quirky, lovely folk, but the occult spell list has the creepiest and most evil spells... Yesterday the party bard used a bon mot to ruin the will save of an enemy with a funny insult and after that he cast phantasmal killer and just one shot that enemy. It's seriously frightening :D
A few of my favorite pop culture Bards… Geoffrey Chaucer from a Knight’s Tale as played by Paul Bettany. Dillios from 300 as played by David Wenham. And of course, Jem from Jem and the Holograms!!!
I subscribed today based upon your recent additions to 2e. Keep up the solid work!
Same haha
