  • In this video we will have a look at the start procedure from the Havilland DHC 2 Beaver which has been added to MSFS as part of the 40th anniversary update. The aircraft is really detailed, and the engine sound is gorgeous.

15:01 you don’t increase/decrease RPM to exercise the prop by moving the throttle. You feather the prop lever a few times, noting each time whether you have a decrease in RPM, a increase in manifold pressure, and a decrease in oil pressure. Otherwise thank you for the video. I couldn’t find the primer!

Flaps lever is between pilot's seat and passenger seat (like manual handbrake in older cars).

The trim indicators (red arrows) do work. Adjustment to the trim (rudder/elevator) is done via the trim wheels, then the indicators move

How in the world do people get their copilots to show up in the cockpit view??

This magneto cut-off test is really strange, right? I did not see this in any other checklist and also real pilots do not switch it off during run-up check. And the restart item (wobble pump & starter) are not mentioned in the in-game checklist. Meanwhile I just skip this.

yep it doesn’t make sense the checklist I used was also the in-game one but from the beta version so probably a bug

It's not strange, you should always check that in a real plane to make sure mags aren't hot when in the off position. Especially dangerous if you ever hand prop. What is strange is how bad the engine sounds are. The engine startup, idle and shutdown sounds are terrible. The free Beaver sound pack for FSX from 2014 is light years ahead of the default sounds. Milviz/Blackbird should be ashamed.
