Thank you for making this video and doing a deep dive on this amp. As a solid state player I was very excited when this came out. Likewise excited when Kirk of Crowbar was using them and I witnessed it live. However I've had horrible luck with the combo versions, 2 died on me. Just am FYI to anyone watching. Love you lambchopper, you're the best on RUclips.
I really like what you do man. I like the fact your not using the extremely expensive gear and experimenting with what you have. Great job as always. That jackson RR is the tits as well.
Ollie in the naughty corner for instigating a pit 😂 Such a useful amp, would be be so cool if they could build a mini version of it that would be loud enough for a full band scenario. Being solid state I’m sure this amp weighs nothing anyway, but to have that added portability is always welcome.
Dude those Metallica tones were waaay to good and off the charts 🤘🤘. I love my old school Mesa Boogie triple rectifier rev G and I get great Metallica tones from it but those Mesa Boogie mark series amps is where the magic happens 🤘🤘
Insane tones🙏 also ill be pickin up the dsl20 and the 6 band eq aswell as a cab when I get paid thanks to your video you done on it to get the ajfa tone. you're insane man🤘
Had one of these amps and returned it after a few days. It’s extremely dark sounding even with the treble on full and very midrangey. It needed loads of external EQ help to get a usable sound.
@@LambChopper678 yeah I was surprised. I run a 2x12 with V30’s and it’s usually quite a bright cab to begin with. Just couldn’t get the Supercrush where I wanted without a BBE or eq in the loop.
Same, but I didn't think it was too dark but had something going on in the upper end, a presence control would be nice. I couldn't stand it w/o an EQ in the loop pulling the 16k down 12db. I know the clean channel doesn't have a bright cap, maybe the dirty one shouldn't either.
I have a Super Crush head coming in today. I also have an EH Green Russian Big Muff reissue coming in. I plan on setting this rig up for sludgy doom tone. I'm pretty excited. I think between the SC and my other amps, I should be able to cover just about any "metal" tone I want.
@Loneshark , I haven't had any luck with my Green Russian. It's really dark, and I'm not getting the gain out of it that I thought I would. I need to work with it some more.
@@73prd, I will try that. I was trying with the channel volume high and then using the master volume for output. I will flip it and try your suggestion.
Just got the amp. Had annoying buzz out of the box. I finally tracked the noise to my source audio eq pedal. This is the first head ive owned that doesnt like this eq. I even tried different power supplies . Just something to keep in mind if you have this eq on your pedal board
Nice man! The crush sounds way better here instead of combined with an orange cab imo. They suck the brightness out of the tone and the darn thing has no presence knob.
that video is just incredible, i'm saving some money to buy an electric guitar and for sure i'll fricking love to finally play metal without it being in an acoustic version
I have a Crush 20. I use a Seymour Duncan 805 in front, and since it has a 3 band EQ I can use it similar to the way you are deploying the Mud Killer- cheers!
I’ve always wanted to try out a TC Electronics Spark booster in the front end of those newer Super Crush amps. I’ve noticed with pure clean midrange boosts in front of solid state amplifiers you can get the same effect as boosting a tube amplifier with a tube screamer, all the while being able to have all of the gain come from the amp as opposed to adding any excess gain or compression to the front end of your amplifier. It works especially well if you’re playing with a set of pickups that aren’t wound as hot as say a Duncan Distortion or a JB. I’ve been using clean mid boosts in front of my Randall RG80 and not only do I get to keep the dynamic character of my amp, but I also get to use pickups that aren’t wound as hot and they’ll still come out sounding super tight and precise.
@@LambChopper678 same here, I was born in 97 though so they were way before my time. 😂 I’ve seen a couple of boutique builders making copies of them though, so it might be worth checking some of those out, too. If you’re also looking for some more pedals to experiment with i recommend keeping your eyes out for a Mesa 5 band Graphic EQ pedal. I’ve been able to dial the face knobs on my Orange Crush Pro 120 in a similar fashion to a Mesa Mark series amp and use a 6 band graphic in a similar fashion to a Mesa 5 band to achieve the exact same tone but with the best attributes of the Orange pre and power amp.
is it possible that it's way better than the Katana? I've tried it at the store never been able to get a thick sound out of it. It was always clear and thin. I own the Nextone Artist which does what it's supposed to do. I don't understand. The Orange Super Crush seems to do a great job for a SS amp.
Can you help me out with EQ settings? I’m trying to dial in a good thrash tone I play BlackThrash but I can’t quite get it lol. I have an EQ pedal and Friedman OD Deluxe as well.
Quick question. Does super crush crest a weird hum while the amp is on? I’ve noticed this on mine. It’s like my guitar is right next to the amp which is causing a frequency noise however I’m not even close to the amp or sitting in front of it. Also. , for some reason I have to tune the channel volume almost half way and the master volume just to get a decent volume in the room. Usually at those levels any other amp would be blowing the windows out of my house but not this one. Just curious if this is normal or I just might have an issue
It’s just the output to the speaker using the speaker cable. There’s an output on the captor to feed into the speaker so you can take the load and lower the output volume. It’s the finest invention
@@LambChopper678 ah cool thanks for the answer. Yeah I was wondering if you can achieve similar results with the Amp's cab sim balanced out straight into the soundcard and have a wall of sound amp sim plugin as cab sim
@@LambChopper678 yes it is! I put an boss ge-7 in the effects and a delay pedal. Od in the front and that bitch screams even at 1 watt. You can use the boss ge-7 and set the level at zero and crank that amp even at 5 watts slightly in your bedroom. Pretty awesome.
In Ollie's defense, you can't listen to that much metal without getting rowdy every now and then! 😂 🤘

Every video you drop is dope Bro
The Mud Killer is amazing. Every time it's clicked on, it just makes the tone so great. Have to get one.

It’s not that big, not much larger than the dsl 20. It is light weight though

Lamb your such a outstanding guitar player!! I like the new orange amp! 👍 The Call of Ktulu🎸🤘
real cool unique sounding amp
Love the vidyas. Ever thought about recreating Prong's guitar tone? I've always thought Tommy Victor's guitar was super heavy...
seconded!

Came for the amp, stayed for the birds XD

So cool thanks man exactly what I’ve been waiting for this amp! Can it Dimebag?!😅
Maybe I'm basic, but I really liked the baseline tone you had. You have some beautiful birds by the way. Is the smaller guy a conure?
Yeah a pineapple conure, cheers mate

The combo version of this with the celestion don't have any Highs either

That probably just means you need to pair it with a different cab. I'm finding the thing to be more enjoyable than my tube amp for certain things.

Mine doesn’t have any noise but it is quiet for a 100w amp. I’d say my 20w jcm 800 is louder
What’s your opinion on the PRS MT 15?
Hi there may I ask how are you connecting the amp to the captor x, is it through the balanced out/cab sim xlr output from the Super Crush 100 amp?

What's your thoughts on 72 seasons?
I listened to Lux Aeterna when it first dropped. I’m glad they’re still making music but it was really boring.
Only because you asked
Since I hate tube amps, because of the cost and how crappy they are built, I would go with a Katana Artist head, or the Super Crush.
Putting a Fortin grind in front!
Yep it do the trick
Yeah this is a fantastic head, the DI out is the only disappointing part for me.
What pickups are in the Charvel?
EMG 81 in the bridge and crossroads in the neck and bridge
Maybe get a big ass Macaw Parrot and the other one won't be able to get away with being so much of a bully. 😂
Does the loud music hurt the bird's ears?
I really wanted the DI to sound good but it didn't.. I gig this live with my band and hoped the DI would cut stage feedback...gutted
