Mr. L, you made me learn ( just a bit ) english for understand what and how you do the 'sauce' of the tones... been learning so much with your tips... thank you for your time Sr. from BR 👈😎👈
Thanks for taking your time to make this. how would you suggest using the mxr 6 band with the super crush 100? In front or in the loop? Same Dime settings for the 6 band? Thanks again!
I like using it like an OD boosting mids in front of the amp. If you’ve got an overdrive pedal then I’d put that in front and use the 6 band in the fx loop to a sculpt the tone.
this amp sucks for metal stock but I got mine a 10 band graphic eq and the SD-1 and have been getting some GREAT tones for things from knocked loose drop tooned hardcore to tight thrashy crossover metal. (for anybody else with one of these, the boss sd-1 is extremely important, a tube screamer really just boosts the mids and this amp is already too heavy in the mids). Ive been thinking about getting a boss kitana head too, which one do you think is better for chugs?
I like this one. You’re totally right with what you said imo. I think it’s a really good foundation amp that you have to add to. It’s got that looser saggy heavy bottom end that is easy to tighten and get some cool tones. The RG’s were horrible on their own. This amp has potential for some brutal metal tones that nobody expects
I have the katana mk2 and was thinking to switch to the orange for brutal death metal in A standard, have a sd1 as well, do you think it's worth it?. The kat shrills alot
@@Chickendipupdate I am very happy with my orange and have been even using it for recording in the studio with great results. You will need a 10 band eq to cut out the low miss tho. The stock amp is terrible for high gain
Arghhhh I hate the Super Crush... it's garbage for high gain but it can indeed be modified with a boost / EQ to make it slightly rise from the pile of dog poop that it is buried upon :D
I have to agree. I got a new one for £300 and returned it next day. Not much gain and just sounded like it had a blanket over it, even with an eq pedal. Was shocked at all the great reviews

Seem's to me that any half decent rock/metal tone is 90% of the time ANY Tube amp, V30's/ Greenback/ Creamback, and a good ear for EQ. Solid work as usual LC It's great that this is a SS amp
Im starting to think that its not the tubes that made everything sound good but its the old speakers. Most new speakers are made with plastic and rubber where as the old speakers where made with metal baskets and paper cones
This sold me on this head. I use an EVH Stealth 6L6 50 mostly, but just want a nice SS. Had a warhead head but it didn't have the growl of the Orance. I love the 15x2 Warhead cab though, it is beast.
That could be something cool for your channel, getting a sound with the wrong amp and gear, like doing Zakk Wylde sound but no Marshall, wong pickups and all the wrong gear BUT still getting the ZW tone by using EQ's and different overdrives.
This was absolutely awesome man! You nailed it like a god! I find a little chorus works nicely on the cemetery gates cleans. But it's like having a touch more or less salt on your dinner, it tastes good either way.
I don't play as much as I used to, but I still enjoy watching your vids man! Have a great ear for tones and the chops to back it all up. You sold me on th DSL and the ME para EQ
Have you successfully any of his other katana tones? I haven’t been able to get them to work. I expected them to need tweaking since I don’t have the same setup as him but when I tried they sounded completely different and incredibly muddy. Maybe my Katana is having issues.
@lambchoppers678 is the Master Effects EQFH pro worth the extra $$ over the EQFH for chasing Dime's tone? All you're demos of both pedals are excellent, but its hard to judge through RUclips how much better the pro pedal is. Awesome channel btw.
If you’re wanting to run it through the front end with the mxr 6 band just like Dime did then the eqfh pro is what you need but if you’re after a really solid eq for the fx loop to dial loads of tones then I prefer the classic. The pro has a really different gain structure just like the pq3. I find it’s really difficult to tame in the. Hope that helps The standard eqfh is my all time favorite
I bought the katana mk2 100 head downloaded the software and EQ and had a 6 band in the loop something about it didn't mesh with me I felt like a lot of the patches weren't that great either. Bought the Super Crush and like the response feel a lot better. Thankyou for the info, Love your videos!

Hey chopper, hello from Texas. I have looked high and low for info on a band named Xerath when it comes to tone. They were using Peavey JSX heads and I own that and a Peavey XXX. I have no idea what else they are using for their rhythm tone but I have tried a number of ways to achieve it without success. Well if you have any idea I would love to know, anyway love what you do and best wishes.
Hey saw your comment and thought I would give two cents. They are playing 7 string guitars. Definitely not a scooped 90s tone. Very mid forward. If you find some videos on how slipknot dials in their guitar tone, then focus the mids even moreso. You should be in the ballpark. Also, you can definitely tell it is heavily studio processed. That gives it that thick multi tracked/panned sound. Hearing that pick attack so clearly too tells me the presence is likely up significantly. Hope that gets you pointed in a decent direction mate. Good luck tone hunting. Cool band.
@iLLuzion1st Thanks for the direction, yeah my guitars can get a little muddy through the amp because of the 7 strings. They are definately getting that separation in the bottom end. Thanks again.
