@@marccus1989 It's generally the misuse. These meds are life-changing in a positive way for people who need them. People who use them to be super productive are abusing them.
At the right amount with someone with adhd it’s like a super power but one everyone already has. My first dose I noticed a pen drop and my head didn’t just turn without my permission and I just had a little smirk because it was the moment I realized with this power I can finally control my own mind and body. What Rogan and people who have either A. Never taken Adderall or B. Taken Adderall without needing it don't understand is the difference it makes to people who ACTUALLY need it. My entire life I was a sub par student, barely got through high school with decent grades, happened to do way better on the ACT than I expected, and then nearly got to the point of failing out of college. Not because I didn't try, not because I wasn't motivated. I spent hours (sometimes 4-6) reading one chapter or doing one assignment and I would retain nothing. I finally got medicated when I nearly got to the point of failing out, and it was literally like a light switch. My GPA doubled, I became a normal person who could actually focus in class. People don't get addicted to how stimulants make them feel, they get addicted to being successful and being able to do what is asked of them. If I could be that person without it, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I can't.
@@boloyoung9537 TLDR: People like Rogan either haven't done adderall or have taken it without needing it, and don't understand how it makes a difference in people who need it. OP says he did better in school.

Yeah dude , especially taking 30 milligram it will burn your receptors of the neurons. The mind stops producing dopamine. Without it you will no have the will to walk even eat
i think people in this comment section calling him a “fiend” arent truly taking into account the fact that he was put on adderall at 6 years old(he says), kinda hard to shake speed when youve been on it since the 1st grade. hope he can though
Yup I went on Concerta at age 11 all the way up to my 20s. It took me awhile to get off of it. The withdrawal effects are terrible and I felt like my life was falling apart when I wasn't on it. Eventually I was able to transition, I used weed a lot to help with the transition. Atm I'm not on weed either and I'm happy with not being on Concerta, I do struggle with ADHD but I think there are healthier ways to cope with it. Good routine, exercise, healthy diet, good support system and also that constant voice in my head that says to focus on what I am doing and not to stray.
On the side note, if you started using it in college for doing work or at work for productivity, then you would not have the same view of it as someone whose been on it since childhood.
@@Anthony-tw3oi when you are that young and taking it for that long he’s gotten so used to it it’s almost a mental dependence which gets stronger over time
If anything, speed makes your pupils larger , not like pin drops ! Opioids will do that to your eyes . If I ever decide to do too much of my adderral , I will have freaking Owl eyes ! :)) lol
I'm honestly still confused about whether or not I potentially have adhd, based on the reactions in people with it versus without it. I felt calmer, it slowed me down, or my thoughts and mental problems processes rather, I felt like I was thinking more linearly and that the majority of aspects of my life felt more organized, or that they could BE organized. I felt more mellow, I think it was the first time I thought to myself, "so this is 'chill'". Not quite zombie like, I felt less anxiety and like I could function more like a "normal" person.
They say you can never rely on how the meds make you feel, to determine if you have adhd. Because everyone who takes Adderall in smaller doses becomes more focused and productive, but that for those without ADHD, that is reliant on the high/euphoria, which to maintain requires constantly increasing your dosage. On the other hand, people with ADHD can take it daily and still get 80% of the benefit long term on the same dose. Regardless, it never hurts to get a test done! If you feel you have always come up short of your potential, you're emotionally sensitive, lose things, disorganized, get bored with everyday tasks but can marathon an interesting subject for hours, then you probably have ADHD.
The problem with adderall is over very long periods of time of taking it it makes you very bipolar and very up and down. When you don’t take it you’re very tired and lazy. I’m glad i don’t take that stuff anymore or need it to function. It’s been 17 years since I last took it
Joe is woefully I’ll-informed about the executive function of the brain and how it works. I’ve missed out until my mid 30s with the same mindset, that adderrall is a legal speed. Then I got diagnosed with adult adhd, top 2%. It slowed me down. My blood pressure has reduced. My destructive compulsive behaviors have reduced. It’s saving my life. If you truly have ADHD, it’s a godsend.
I myself have been diagnosed at 46 and it’s changed my life! Both myself and daughter who is 29yrs are now medicated and Both had nothing but positive effects on our lives
I love HST and completely agree that he is one of the best writers of the last 100 years. However, this guy quotes Thompson like Christians quote the bible and it's creepy.
Guy is so dramatic. I have a hard time thinking Hunter Thompson wouldn't have at least shot AT this guy had he been in his company for more than a few minutes.
Ad derail is prescribed for ADD/ADHD which he has. He's taking it to be able to do stuff in his life. Without it, he would be too distracted and unfocused to be able to accomplish anything. Some peoples' brains are different. Some people need medication to be able to function. Just because you don't, don't assume other people are taking the wrong path b cause it isn't the path you would take.
Also depends if he takes XR or not. I take 25 XR everyday and actually it’s easy to get immune to where the effects are not as strong. Need 3-4 day breaks every couple weeks
some people have such a weird relationship to Adderall. every time I take adderall I feel very peaceful and ill just sit and study and enjoy learning for the sake of it. I wish I started taking it sooner. the only downside I have ever experienced is the appetite suppression. but also I don't take adderall everyday like him because that just seems like a recipe for disaster.
They say to always eat before you take it . That does two things , you eliminate hunger by eating obviously and the medication will work more effectively too . Water and nothing acidic, as this will make your body pee out the meds . Absorption increases with low acidity in your stomach .
@@hammerandthewrench7924 People fail to realize if the medication isn’t working effectively, there’s a good chance you’re not eating the right type of foods to maximize the efficacy of the meds . I take Dexedrine myself (prescribed 60 mg day ) and have had days where I eat junk and the meds go nowhere and other days where I’m eating more fruits and vegetables (limit citrus because that will make you pee the meds out.) and the meds last the way they’re built to last .
@James R OBoyle your not getting the same euphoric feelings, so u need more and more. Your "meds" aren't junk also?? I've never felt any kind of comedown from Adderall. I have only had dry mouth. So it helps, but you'd rather not take it, though you don't find it addictive?
If you are suffering with the vicious cycle and serious side effects of stimulant use, I recommend watching Andrew Huberman for knowledge at the intersection of neuroscience and using daily habits/tools for natural augmentation
Exactly, I am 18 years old and I’ve been taking Concerta since I was 15 years old. I don’t abuse it and it helps me. I took Adderall since I was little but stopped and I began taking it in 2017 and it helped me but I didn’t like it very well. Then I started getting into the habit myself of taking it every single day ,and then the side effects disappeared and I was to be able to eat food and meals and burgers.
Homeboy said he's on 30mg? I guarantee you he's on double or triple the amount. I took it for 12 years. Homie is cracked out. Just watch his movements and facial expressions
First off.. as soon as I saw this guys face and eyes I knew he was on something. Second... I’ve taken adderall and vyvanse for years and I know he’s lying when he says he takes 30mg a day... my max at vyvanse 70mg is high for me and this dude I know has to be over the 100mg mark lol! No way he’s this cracked while taking meds for years and still have no tolerance issues.
Right? 30mg is nothing if you're someone who has an actual prescription and take it everyday. Maybe he's taking 30MG instant release 3 times a day with red bull.
Bro vyvanse 60mg is equivalent to a 20mg addy. 70mg vyvanse would be equal 25mg to addy. There is actually alot of people on addy 30mg. But what people don't understand is that he said. He's on extended release. That means that's it's gonna last a while for him. It's actually common for people with ADHD to have a script for 30mg addy a day
I was on the adderall super early in elementary school. Maybe 7-8 and used to take the capsules on spoons of apple Sauce so I could eat it. Was a complete walking corpse had crashed depression and suicidal thoughts. Lasted up till about 2 years ago I quit and gained a shit ton of weight because I didn’t have the appetite suppression(not blaming the weigh gain on the pills obviously I picked up the fork to often) but am now working on turning that around. It’s givin me more problems than solutions.
For real the lethal dose of adderall is over a 1,000 mg two monsters at a gas station can potentially kill you. I also feel my heart racing oit of my chest with caffeine never once had a heart problem with adderall
Adderall is not meth. I take Adderall every day, and yes I truly have attention span issues. I was on it as a child for about a year in the early 60s. As I got into my 60s I was not able to keep focus on the things I needed to for my occupation. I don't like to feel any kind of speed buzz when working. I have tried timed released, and non-timed release. I've tried many different doses, and gone down to a timed released dose that I take everday, and it is something that has improved my life considerable. I take issue with the reasons he is taking this, "for dealing with the issues of the day". He may be making it difficult for those people who truly need it, and are using for the appropriate reasons. Don't group everyone together on this. Yes there are people who are abusing this, but there are others that I can honestly say this is of great benefit.
I've been on Addys for 16 years (21 years old). I wish I could determine how the medication has contributed to negative thought patterns, paranoia ect. but I can only say that I know no different. I can only be certain that I could not have achieved half of what I have I wasn't prescribed it for my ADHD. Does anybody have any own perspectives to provide on this?
I'm extremely glad my parents kept me off Adderall when I was growing up. I've seen what its done to kids growing up and people are hollow shells of themselves who need it just to function. It destroys creativity, humor, everything is a minus one on it. Parents who couldn't be bothered to instill a sense of self discipline in there children instead start them out on amphetamine and their derivatives when they're five. I feel extremely bad for you man
Adderall makes the user perceive the "drug" as giving them further capacities they would have never had without it. It creates a strong sense of self by filling the void with pleasure and content ness causing reinforcements in society to feel more pleasurable then they really are. An example would be picture you are going out to a beautiful lake in the mountains you would feel an inner sense of peace and happiness as you are connecting to nature which is what we are. As opposed to walking into a McDonald's that can almost immediately give you a spiral of negative energy and constrictiom. However, on Adderall it would look fun and rewarding because you are altering your relationship with your self. As time goes on Adderall will become far less effective and you will need it to do anything in life. The happiness and focus you once felt will turn into torment. But Adderall will have already got you so submerged into your lifestyle that giving it up would feel like giving up apart of your identity.
If you think you possibly got negative thought patterns from taking addy, try not having it for 36 years. I despised myself thoroughly and constantly. Everything I did, even the very many good and right things, I criticized. Everything was colored by this disorder.
@@xv9021 All of the friends I had who were prescribed Ritalin and Addy have been more at peace with themselves than those who didn't... such as yours truly. Before I worked in special education and long before I was diagnosed, I thought as you do--that more discipline was needed--despite my trying hard and despite my brother being abused by daycare workers due to his lack of discipline. Since I have had medication, I have noticed an increase in my creativity, humor, thought process, and overall mood. As far as addiction goes, I can't even remember to take the pills most days and I certainly don't crave more of them. I don't need it to function. It is essentially an anti-anxiety pill that allows me to move through life rather slowly and with little effort. It is a beautiful thing. I am so happy. It sounds like you have not tried medication and instead wish to judge kids and parents, which is your right. Note that you used the wrong form of "their" and you have some agreement issues in your penultimate sentence as well as some other grammatical and mechanical issues throughout your reply.
No lie. I need Adderall. Everytime I seek for it, physicians treat me as if I am a drug dealer looking for supply. The very few times I've taken it has been extremely peaceful. Allows me to shift my focus on one thing and one thing only. Without it, I tend to be all over the place. But hey! Got to work with what you got.
Don't go to your family Doctor for Adderall. Go to a mental health provider and be evaluated by a psychologist and let THEM recommend it to a Nurse Practitioner within the facility. THEN you'll get it.
I kind of understand what he's saying. In order to stay productive in today's society, one needs mental clarity and focus. I found I was bouncing around jobs, not giving the job any chance to set myself up for success down the road, and always stuck at the beginning line. Adderall has calmed me down enough to focus where I'd like to go, without something easily distracting my productivity. But I did not take this drug until 30 and my mind was already fully developed. Give kids time to create their creativity before giving them substances.

The way he talks about Adderall, it's as if he's using it exclusively to enhance his performance, and that it's damaging over the long term. For people with ADHD there is no evidence it harms people over the course of their lives. Listening to this guy, you would think it's the type of thing you could do for 3-4 years and then live with the consequences forever. But it's a genuine therapeutic need for many people, who can't function or live as a full human being without it, not some sort of intensive work or study aid. Awful for people who actually require this drug and it just contributes to the stereotyping of ADHD which is all too common.

Don't group everyone together on this. Yes there are people who are abusing this, but there are others that I can honestly say this is of great benefit.
Well it is meth so

I've been on Addys for 16 years (21 years old). I wish I could determine how the medication has contributed to negative thought patterns, paranoia ect. but I can only say that I know no different. I can only be certain that I could not have achieved half of what I have I wasn't prescribed it for my ADHD. Does anybody have any own perspectives to provide on this?
Agree with you, in my country its so competitive that you would be trampled if you arent in top 5 percentile!

30 mg a day? This dude is an addict. He stays zoom zooming
30mg/day isn’t much if you’ve taken stims your whole life.
That’s literally the highest Adderalll dose that comes in a pill dumb ass
I am 17y psychiatrist just prescribed me 60 mg daily or 3 20 irs throughout the day. How is 30 mg a lot?
I cannot agree with you more!!! It takes my pain away from knowing the unknown!!!!
I was prescribed ADHD medicine 12 years ago. Started crashing around 2 pm everyday. Thought it was depression. Found out it wasn’t. Been off the medicine for 2 years. Finally got my life back. The drug is the devil.
keep yr head up a lot of us have been through that bullshit, good for you figuring it out
Roger Rampage which adhd medicine were you taking?
I was on it for 10 years. Finally stopped. The drug is completely evil with the crashes and depression and paranoia
@@Evie534 that’s your experience and that sucks, but it also helps a lot of people with brain issues focus better. A drug is a drug, it’s not the devil, it’s not a god send. Everything else has to do with how we use it and how we react to it
@@Evie534 if you don’t mind me asking how did you quit or did you just do cold turkey and change other factors in your life to make up for it?
good discussion here
Tweaked out on pills
He seems to of maybe taken one too many adderalls and while the one is working it’s affect keeping him wired and focus, the second one is starting to kick in causing hot flashes and anxiety
My friend in college gave me a 30mg Adderall once... I thought I was going to fly in to orbit
😂😂
before i even clicked the thumbnail my first thought was "this guy is speeding"
JR: “Yeah man I know a bunch of people on Adderall, it’s crazy!”
Guest: “have you ever tried to reach a scholar article? I can’t do it! The medication helps! Hunter S. Thompson - - -“
JR: “have you ever tried DMT?... Jamie pull up that video of the fuckin gorilla! You gotta check this out man”
There are no solutions - only trade-offs. - Thomas Sowell
There is no genuine therapeutic need. Keep telling yourself you need speed
This guy's is an addict but I think college students and people from other professions should have access to it as it has many positive effects on low doses. I'm 17 and my doctor prescribed me 60 a day well 3 20s throughout the day I don't have add but it majorly helps me I'm school and at work. Caffeine uses to give me extreme anxiety adderall is a much better stimulant.
@@lukesanchez1024 That’s too much it’s unnecessary
@@lukesanchez1024 I don’t think he is he takes breaks which is a lot more than most people do
@@RKO1988 yeah I know I gotta be careful with these types of drugs. Especially now that my dumbass broke my arm and got presribed hydrocodone 3 times daily my room is like a pharmacy🤣
Wow. Well said
