/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and if that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ending has left you shell shocked then this is the video for you. Mutant Mayhem is now out and throughout this video we're gonna be talking about the movies plot, it's post credits scene and also our thoughts on where things could be going in the future.
There's a lot to dive into and they actually set up a couple things for the sequel that I think could be major plot points as part of this universe. I don't wanna waste anymore of your time but obviously heavy spoilers ahead, now with that out the way, let's get into the video.
-
Ok so Mutant Mayhen follows the teenage mutant ninja turtles as they make their way out of the sewers and into the human world. Told by Splinter that humans are evil people that never hit the thumbs up button they've remained in the shadows away from the light. However that world constantly calls to them and whether it's seeing Ferris Beullers day out or just their love for martial arts movie they really want to be part of that world.
Now after saving April O'Neills scooter they see an opportunity to finally be accepted by humanity and this puts them on a path to clash with the movie's big bad Super fly. Played by Ice Cube they get tempted by his ways and I have to admit even I was like, yeah join him mate, seems like a cool dude. However, they realise it's gonna be a bad day if they stick with him because Super Fly actually wants to murder all humanity so mutants can rule the planet.

sequal & series
i think shredder & splinter origins is going to be like the old movie
yes super fly mit come back and hopfuly turn good and i wish slash
I'll still never get over Vanilla Ice's music in TMNT 2 in the 90s... Go ninja,go ninja GO!
The best and worst scene of all time
@@heavyspoilers hahaha you ain't lying buddy!
The closest Vanilla Ice will ever get to saying n--a with a pass 😂😂😂
The one song that always reminds me of TMNT is the one in part 3 where they went to Feudal Japan is “Tarzan Boy” by Baltimora. That song always brings me back to 1993 lol
nostalgia
I think the reason superfly wasn’t Baxter himself was because they made it clear in the movie that in this version the ooze only mutates animals it does not mutate humans which is why superfly is baxters “son”
tbh I think they just wanted to do both versions of Baxterstockman, the scientist and the fly but made the fly an entirely new character. You pretty much had nearly every mutant from the 80's show
I knew he originally was indeed Baxter Stockman until they changed him. Is Baxter Stockman dead? That was kind of unclear unless I missed a scene. Which is possible. The Superfly action figure comes dressed in Baxter Stockman's clothes and has his same accessories from m the 90s toys. Superfly wears no such clothes. I get why they changed it, but that was a terrible decision. Unless Baxter is alive and becomes a fly later on in the TV show. I doubt they will recycle a villain that closely in a movie sequel.
I'm 40 and I loved this more than my kids.
That’s good man ❤
No
TMNT was created 39 years ago so it's almost as old as you.
No. This film is garbage lol
I'm 39, took my son yesterday, he liked it, I loved it.
The fact they made splinter fight like Jackie Chan is 10 /10 'that kinda attention to detail was insane this movie was fun
I was telling my kids that Jackie Chan is a ninja master, but he likes to have fun in his movies. So that’s why the chair and a lot of other things the way he moves and stuff were more her style. I wonder if Seth Rogen ask Jackie Chan how he would fight or what he would do in this in this case.
I thought the same thing and really loved that detail
I liked how Splinter fought like Jackie Chan in his rescue mission, using the environment as part of the fight.
I was blown away by how fun this movie was. I wasn't expecting too much beyond 'the turtles are voiced by actual teens.' I had a great time and I'm excited for more TNMT!
Baxter Stockman wasn't turned into a fly in the source material. However he did in the 1987 animated series.
And in the 2012 series too.
tbh I think Superfly was pretty much suppose be a nod of fly form Baxterstockmen from the 1987 series, but as a new character..
@@baxterstockman2191 why would you think I wouldn’t know that?
@@deniseg9210 meant for op
@@baxterstockman2191 actually if anything Superfly is based off the character of the same name form the TMNT Archie comics where he was Baxter Stockman’s assistant cause he wasn’t mutated in those comics.
To be fair...in the source material Baxter Stockman does not turn into a fly. He invents the mousers. He turned into the fly in the cartoon, not comic.
Honestly, all my years of turtles and its different versions, I've never felt any attachment to April, or ever really cared much about her character at all. This was surprisingly the one version that I actually kinda liked.
I WATCHED THE MOVIE! AND GOD DAMG IT!! IT HAS TO BE THE FRESHEST TAKE ON THE TMNT EVER!! AND NOT ONLY THEM BUT ALSO THE OTHER MUTANTS!! completely loved the characters and the antagonist! so charismatic all and with W rizz!!
200% agree
I was also disappointed Baxter wasnt Superfly this time around for two reasons.
Baxter is always usually a boss in 99% of the turtles games and would've loved to see him as a bad guy finally.
As much hate as the Bay Turtles got, they clearly tease Baxter becoming a fly mutant in the 3rd movie, but naturally we never got one
Watched it today with my 7 year old son. Finally got him to watch a ninja turtles movie lol. The 90’s ones were “too old” to get him into the the Michael bay ones just lacked substance to hook him. This was perfect for his generation he was all in on it and actually asked me to see it before I could mention it! Ice Cube as superbly stole the show for me hands down was worth it just to see that take on him lol.
My neighbor is a big ninja turtles nerd, but he does not care for the last few movies especially the animation ones. I told him that ninja turtle has one of those properties that needs to be rebooted every 10 or 15 years because animation style changed, tastes, change, and Mike with Seth Rogen grew up watching the ninja turtles so now he has the pole to make the movie that he wants to make
My son is 12 and we watch the original ninja turtles movies with him and he did not care for them because yeah, the puppets well super cool we’re not his style
Wu-Tang + Shredder 🙏🏼
I'm hyperventilating
Thats the beauty of TMNT. Theres no real set vision for them. Each one has its own place and it shows how versetile the characters can be.
Im 30, took my kids to see it (3 and 5). I think i loved it the most. Ice cube crushed it. It was actaully acary at times, enough for mw to look over at my youngest and make sure hes good. He was in awe.
Lots of comedic relief as well. Im excited for more with the same voice actors.
And oh my god. Jackie Chan as Splinter was also gold. Perfect dissapointed dad.
Cynthia Utrom is %100 Krang because his home planet is Ultrominon
When I tell you “ theory time “ is the funniest bit you came up with. Ahah I even low key remember when you first started doing. So to hear come back every now and then. Hilarious
I’m hoping shredder realizes that splinter is a reincarnation of hamato yoshi, and splinter gets flashbacks to feudal Japan, shredder double crosses tcri and lots of ninja action
Yeah thats not gonna happen......
Great breakdown 😊 I would appreciate if you did - Hidden Strike 🔥 (Jackie Chan, John Cena) it's an fun action movie is how i would describe it. Top man
Spoilers!
That Shredder cameo was an epic inclusion and I am really hyped for the sequel,I wonder who they’ll cast for him though because of the star-studded cast of the first film!
I'm thinking Keith David, Tony Todd or Steve Blum
I would want the actor who played Wenwu or the Scorpion actor from Mortal Kombat 2021
Maybe Jet Lee 😆
Splinter and April’s designs are pretty rough , Mikey’s voice actor is fine but should probably have more energy . Other than that tho it’s pretty good 8/10 🌟
3:07 is that a Krang?😅 she’s giving me Krang vibes especially with the colour scheme
Heavy Spoilers is on my wavelength! Get me on the bloody channel mate 😅 it even looks like there’s a slit under her chin where her face can just lift up and the Krang is sitting in the head maybe?
Probably is a Krang. Utron is the name of the Krang Species, and Cynthia looks like a gender bent version of Krang's Robo Suit
I am a teenager, and I loved it more than my friends who saw it with me.
Personally, even though he was still a badass martial artist when he got going, Splinter seemed a little lackluster in the fighting department. Sure, he beat those TCRI guys, but the Splinter I like the best, the 2012 version, probably would’ve taken like 1/10th the time to beat all those guys. (Also, I kinda think that whole Backstory with Hamato Yoshi, Tang Shen and Oroku Saki is a big part of the Turtles history, so, leaving it out is kinda jarring to me.) and learning Martial arts and Ninjutsu from internet videos? I mean, that’s better than learning it from a book, but it still feels like it cheapens their training somehow.
this movie was such eye candy thru and thru, i loved the chemistry between the turtles and honestly i would love more of this rendition of the world they’ve built
I read on the IMDb page that one Seth Rogen was making this he wanted all the voice actors to come in and record their lines altogether to have more of a connection with each other. It seems like that worked because the boys doing all the jokes as turtles were So flowy
I like how there were crime "bosses" and cronies, small-time "crooks" who had a conscience but were exploited by the big bads and forced to do their bidding; I feel like the moral ambiguity in some of the crooks was really realistic, so I didn't mind that they left it open-ended where they're gonna go / what they're gonna be used for; I feel like (and hope) Bebop and Rocksteady are going to be drawn back into "evil" by Shredder even after telling Superfly they don't want it
April had become the news reporter we know and love by the end of this movie, by breaking the Turtles story, and I think that this evolution of her character will continue into her being more professional
I also think / hope that Shredder will become more "Sensei" and the Turtles' martial arts / ninja aspect more serious as they grow in the series; it's already clear that Splinter is Asian-American and has brought that culture and experience to his "sons", so maybe in terms of the fighting he's starting them off small and not too young (by introducing them to movies to begin with); we know that he can fight in a Drunken Master type style
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Is Getting a Sequel and TV Show
she's Krang, of cooooourse omg; this makes sense given that she summons Shredder at the end (Shredder was always Krang's b*tch after all)
Was expecting it to be a spiderverse copy but ended up enjoying it more. The spiderverse can be too visually stimulating it just drains your energy out
thank God you're here to talk us through the ending of cartoons. Could you go back and do all the cartoons from the 1950s until the early 2000s ? I'm still trying to work out the complexities of Grape Ape.
I really love the hall. Ice cube brought his LA gangster, rap style of speaking to the movie.
I love this film. I love that they were brave enough to go in a different direction. I enjoyed in more than spider man. I love the mix of humor they used words like Riz, which my 12 year old had to explain to me what it mean. Superfly referenced Ice-Cube songs and lyrics which i had to explain to my kid.
The film is a sold 8
I took my son, Niece and 2 nephews to it today.
I loved it!!
The boys too!!
The girl thought it was funny, but didn’t understand some of it.
Not a avid TMNT viewer.
We laughed at the jokes, I caught the callbacks, and ever were wowed by the gritty animation.
Jackie Chan as Splinter is Spot On for me
Watched and really enjoyed this movie lunchtime today.
Thanks Paul.
Hope you enjoy the vid too
There were a lot of changes made. I'm 45, so I've seen all of the slight tweeks made over the past almost 40 years for the most part. I thought it was funny and entertaining. I would have liked the storyline to be a little more in line with the past but it wasn't enough for me to dislike the movie. The voice talent was amazing. I liked the energy of the movie. All in all, 7/10.
Yeah....I was a young teen when I saw the '90 movie and that movie is my nostalgic gem. April in this one didn't work for me either...the turtles didn't work for me either, but I did enjoy the movie. This movie was def for my kids' generation. I dig the animation style. The overall story was a good one, but didn't reach the hype (for me) everyone is giving it. My kids had a blast and we can't wait to see the sequel. They have no idea about the history of TMNT except that their dad love the old old movie when he was young😂, so they are going into this with open minds. This is a great jumping on point as this story is a true origin story for all the characters.
I'm glad to know there will be a Paramount+ series based on this. I thought this was a fun movie and I'm 43. I enjoyed the music, too. I would like it if April was a little more fit.
Me too. It's not helpful, the design choice for her
Sequel : Introduce Karai as new popular girl to get close to Leo/ start their business
3rd movie : Krangs ..I think the side villian last name was Ultrom
Cynthia Utrom, yes. She has got to be Krang.
I think could happen, Shredder coming into the picture, Splinter will reveal to the turtles that he was hiding the truth from them that he was once a pet to a human until Shredder murdered his master.
I kinda don't like it..... I like this backstory of splinter much more.
@@tomgu2285 👎 who cares be quiet 🤫
The splinter fight scene was classic Jackie it took me back. I liked April she grew on me
I've also had more joy watching movies without trailers lately. I had no idea ice cube and Jackie Chan was in it til I watched it
I'm not sure how I feel about completely dropping the Eastman and Laird origin of the Turtles.
Having splinter be Sake rather than his pet was fine (probably influenced by me growing up with the cartoon), but I don't know about this version.
Its a new Turtles for a new generation, and I'm happy for changes to be made. I don't hate the new origin story, either
It would have been dumb to have Baxter turn into Superfly since, in this version, none of the other characters went from human to mutant.
About to go in an hour to see this with my 14 year old daughter. I told her I had action figures with gadgets and was Leonardo one year for Halloween only because there were no Michaelangelo Orange and she gave me a stupid look and said Gross and walked off. But still excited that she wants to see it with me as I've actually hit that mark in life where I guess I am not cool anymore. She justs wants my money and hang out with her friends haha. She keeps straight A's so I am cool with it.
I loved it and my kids too! Better than i expected.
Thanks for the info
I loved the movie. As someone who's whole life was based around the ninja turtles when I was a kid there were a lot of little things that I appreciated.
For what the movie was and what they were going for, I was fine with the changes. Personally though, I’m more of a fan of the ninja aspect of the turtles. Strike hard and fade away into the night, remaining in the shadows type of turtles like from the 1990 or 2007 movie. So watching them openly reveal themselves to the world and throw away their bandanas was a bit hard to accept for me. But as a coming of age take on the characters it was really good.
I completely agree with you! Imma just let em cook
Yeah I felt the exact same way. But what I appreciated about it is that they tried something different. Like for example. Have we ever seen any tmnt show or movie that the turtles never have been in a fight before? Like this movie we get to actually go see their origin story and their first fight. I honestly thought it was hilarious that they were messing up and freaking out in their first fight but then they got the hang of it. And this is also the first version of the turtles that is actually written like they’re actually kids and the fact they were voiced by teenagers I feel really helped.
@jvilmusic yeah man I get you, my fav part was splinter, I think this man got a well deserved glow up, whenever I think of him I think old rat who gets beaten and kidnapped and in this film what they do so well is develop his character, and its so affective and a big breath of fresh air
@@loganmitchell3583 agreed man! Splinter stood out and the whole milking joke was hilarious and the fact it ended up happening killed me 😂
@jvilmusic yeah it was really funny, and to this day my fav depiction of splinter
I wish we can see superfly team up with turtles to rescue bexter stockman to stop Cynthia's purly wicked plains. that would be kinda cool to see I guess.
why didn't you talk about Superfly's Intro ??? that was So cool !
I don't think shredder will be the main villain but I do believe he will be in the
No idea why they made a new villain for this rather than using one of the MANY cool established ones. Also the fact they learn ninja skills from watching and it taught by Splinter.
I’d LOVE to see a version of The Last Ronin being made. That story is fantastic.
So wait you're mad that they created a new character ?? Rather than gender-bending for turning the character into a different race??
People are really backwards these days cuz I actually find it nice that they created a new character to add the long list of character said TMNT franchise.
@@shadow-gr4iw not a fan of that either - but just think it’s weird to invent a new bad guy when they have so many they could pick from. As Jeremy John said though, they probably wanted Baxter to be his character but scared they would get done for IP infringement
@@tombrand236 I don't know who Jeremy john is but I would rather them add new characters to the franchise like they did with bebop and rocksteady, tiger claw, Toca and razor, and many more.
I get would could use old villains that already exist but non of them fills the "government man/woman" type roll. Plus I think she's krang in disguise
@@shadow-gr4iw you mean new takes on Bebop and Rocksteady? But yeah sounds like she will be Krang or another alien like him. Which i am down for!
@@tombrand236 well I mean Bebop and Rocksteady They never appeared in the garage comics nor were their plan to they were created for the TV show only. With one of the Creator's actually speaking out and say that he wished he'd never agree to have Bebop and Rocksteady join the franchise, because he thought they were too silly
And if she is another alien or krang that would be cool too because that was a big fan Theory when we first saw her
This movie is awesome on all levels The animation blew my mind Well done Seth
In the source material he doesn't turn into a fly hes a human that puts his brain in a cyborg body
Krengs bowl was on the table towards the end
Saw the movie today with my 9 yo son.
I thought it was pretty good, and definitely something to build on with that mid-credit scene.
I completely agree, secret of the ooze being my fav, im happy this its own new thing for kids to know and fall in love with, as like you said they are who this is made for, but i just wanna take a moment to praise seth rogen as he bloody smashed it outta the park with this. Pls talk about this on the podcast... Keep up the good work mate! 💙
We knew it was krang the moment you see the glasses
Or when you realize her last name (Utrom, Krang's alien people)
4:30 also her head is build for one of these aliens to fit in there
Great movie, love the art style.
"If youre an adult".. I'm 28 and loved it lol
Movie was so dope the soundtrack and art came together better than expected
My buddy and I loved this movie, I myself thought it was really fun and incredible
I like the fact that Baxter isn't superfly, but I'm also very sad Baxter had to die at the beginning of the movie
I'm 38 and I loved the movie it was so much better than spider-verse by a lot in comparison spider-verse sucked screw miles it's turtles forever
They probably will have Shredder be an utrom in the iconic outfit, it makes more sense, since it's set up that way.
You should mention that April wasn't a reporter in the original comics 9:41
What was she?
@@Anythingpossiblebutnotu started off as Baxter Stockmans lab assistant iirc.
I hope we get another TMNT adaption like the 2003 series that's more faithful to the elements in the comics.
Sort of annoyed me seeing bebop and rocksteady turn good. Hope they work for shredder in the next movie, show that shredder’s not just a grunt for utrom
I couldn't have been the only 40 year old on planet Earth wishing that the movie would have kept going with the turtles in the opening scene on the top of the roof with the eyes Whited out... I mean yeah of course I had fun with the movie overall but I'm still clamoring for any kind of Darker take on Turtles on the big screen
Why? Not judging just wondering. I know the turtles were originally gritty but the idea is so ridiculous I don’t see the merit in making it ultra serious.
@@thestrayit started as a comic book parody focusing on blind vengeance. Over the top, with a noir presentation. It wasn't serious, but the ninja side and the violence is how the turtles started.
The white eyes is part of the ninja aspect. It's usually appears in the cartoons but as most diverge away from the ninja aspect it rarely sticks around.
3:37 her shirt looks pink too.
This could have been better if they did not recolor April. Nuff said.
I can't get into a Shredder lead sequel where Bebop and Rocksteady are good guys.
I went to see Meg2 but it was sold out, my son chose this instead and we really enjoyed it. I saw the original when it came out and this is way better. I laughed so much throughout this film
Didnt mind Jackie in the role but, didnt like the design of Splinter
Turtle in school be reminded me of power puff girl
This audio of very loud and distorted
They played a lot of music
so: Splinter change. i really like it, April change, i don't like it, i grew up with this version. send my folding chair.
I’m shell-shocked right now!! :0 🐢🍕✨
TMNT 2012 is my favorite show ever and my favorite version of the TMNT
I love Rick and Morty too
This movie was amazing they really did it right man I loved it
Same plot as the first live action X-Men. Just as good too.
Deku from my hero was the face for anime club. I win an Internet point
Identical to the movie THE FLY, 😂
Seeing this tomorrow
TMNT is epic
i thought superfly merged with stockman
The only somewhat dislike I had with this film were some of the jokes.Idk it was a tad cringe at some points but it did give the feel that they were teens nowadays.Other than that this movie was so amazing and lots of fun.I cant wait for the series and the future of these turtles. 🥷🐢
I got to see it on the July 29
I just want a good dark live action movie like the 90 one .....But it will never happen 😢
If ppl really enjoyed this movie (as I did) and they want to get into more turtle stuff I HIGHLY reccomend RISE of the TMNT
I never had a problem with the original teenage aspect. They are mutant turtles. They left out the Ninja part.
I really hope that Cynthia utrom is krang
Don’t think that needed to be April!?!?
My kids 9-7 didn’t like April and they don’t know the old one!!
Micky and Donnie really need to switch voice actors that’s my only problem with the movie everything was great
My favorite is tmnt 2012
I’m 42 and I loved it!
I'm 46 and I loved it as well!!
I genuinely thought this movie was brilliant. I loved it.
