The milking jokes got exponentially funnier every time. I was like, "that's a funny little joke to sneak I'm there for the teens/adults" and then when they brought out the milking machine I was crying from how hard I was laughing.

I literally gasped when they revealed that it was real and gasped harder when they actually showed them being milked out of their backs

It's even funnier when you remember Rise actually had the capybara voiced by Flapjack mention the puppies has nipples

the young voice actors for the turtles recorded all their lines together
because they had such good chemistry and played so well off each other
Rogen wanted them recording together
which is why all the scenes with them just being kids and brothers works so well and feels so genuine.
So fun fact: Leo is voiced by one of the actors who voiced Gumball

Hot take but this is animated better than Spider-Verse. Every frame of this is just oozing (pun intended) with such a unique artistic style that it just does what Sony did but miles better. Granted the story and characters aren't as strong but the visuals? Not even a close competition.

His VA is the youngest of the teens voicing the turtles. He's also the only one that is the same age the turtles are in this movie. Heck, the only other teen to play a turtle also played Donatello.

I think the reason how so many characters look jank is all based on perception. With Splinter basically demonizing the people on the surface, it checks out that they just look bad.
April isnt as horrific because of the initial and following reception in their eyes, but this version is still janky. I think thats actually a nice touch.
The actual reason is because the whole movie is supposed to look like a teenagers notebook, you know the kind of stuff you’d scribble on the sides of your science notes. That’s why the characters look lopsided, weird, and asymmetrical.

I find the ugly faces is an unique art style because it makes the Turtles look normal in comparison.
Edit: the uncanny faces reminds me of someone but I can’t think of who.
I think they remind me of alternate the Mandela Catalogue.

@@ToomuchAnime3 Exacly in fact, in some of the making-of videos for Mutant Mayhem, they explicitly state that the aesthetic they were looking for for the film was to give the impression of Sketchbooks made by teenagers, and to give the impression that it was teenagers who were working on the aesthetic and visual aspects of the film.
I like how instead of the comic book style they went for a sketchy style, really like how it turned out

One of the best TMNT adaptations. The animation, the characters, the fight choreography, and the fact that they were voiced by actual teenagers are all awesome, and I love how they really focused on the turtles and Splinter as a family over them as ninjas.

While I love the style from Spider-Verse, I think personally I love the messier, grittier, and almost middle/high school artist sketchbook look of all the lines, scribbles, shapes and everything! The animation here really reminds me that even “messy looking” animation can be done tastefully and creatively!
I’m still learning every tool in Blender, and so far I’ve figured out how to animate at 5 fps for a similar limited animation look, how to use the Grease Pencil tool to create all the cartoon, 2D, frame by frame effects, and how to use the basic solid 3D shapes to create simple character designs!
This movie inspired me to keep learning all the tools in Blender (and other software) to keep refining my own 2.5 D style!
5:49 Another counterargument for the April being "ugly" debate is that she's a teenager and played very down-to-earth. Not every single teenager in the media needs to be traditionally attractive; they're literally kids!! I dare you to find any high school girl who looks half as attractive as the April O'Neils in past iterations. It's also not good for every teen, fictional or not, to be held to the same beauty stndards because that doesn't help anyone's case, especially the girls.

Honestly what I love most about the film is that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtes are voiced by actual TEENAGERS or at least close to the Teenager age. Is it something that was a must no they could've easily had it be set years and years after they 1st explore above the sewers but it's nice that it's a thing and it's such a neat touch I adore. And gives the voice actors to grow up with the TMNT while they're voicing the characters

Yeah most of the time its more like College Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles but I guess that doesn't roll off the tongue in the same way.
Also Seth Rogen who co-wrote and produced the movie, said that the VA’s for the turtles had such good chemistry

I've seen this movie twice in theaters such a good time and don't regret it one bit. The only thing that's more fun than the movie and animation is the soundtrack so many bangers. My favorite being Ante up.

I watched this film 3 times in theaters, and 4 times on streaming and DVD. Every single time, I laugh, cheer, and vibe with the music, one-liners, and humor. MM is my favorite movie besides the Netflix Rise of the TMNT film in every way.
To be honest, the one problem that I have with TMNT is all of the unnecessary shipping. They’re literally turtles.

All the voice acting in this movie was great and especially with the actual teenagers as the turtles.
This might be my favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to date, I just loved everything about this movie, the visuals the soundtrack, and the stellar and unique animation, and I especially love these new takes on the characters and how the turtles truly act and felt like young teenage up and coming heroes that just want to live their lives the way they want to its truly beautiful how for once in TMNT media that are actually accepted by humanity very early on their careers.
Can't wait for the sequel with Shredder
This movie is the equivalent of a movie about teenagers written by middle aged men but it's actually funny
I think they said that they let the child actors improv or edit a lot of their dialogue so it sounded like something an actual teenager would say.
The music and dialogue are definitely highlights here.
Superfly's scenes of meeting and hanging the Turtles are adorable. You start to feel for the Turtles because they FINALLY get to vibe with other people only for the rug to get pulled out from under them.
the amount of times they just name drop a random person or brand in this movie is actually insane, almost every scene had a little ad slipped into it
this movie slaps in almost every way possible. I love how spider-verse popularized this new trend for modern western animation to just try the most creative and distinct shit possible, and it really shines in this movie. It's similar to spider-verse, but with it's own, rougher and grungier style that really works for the tmnt. I adore how butt-ugly the character designs are, it's just so charming. This movie fucks, can't wait for the next one with Shredder

Because her character design isn't consistent with the artsyle of the film.
One of the things that I didn’t understand about this movie is why they didn’t make Splinter a ninja master and instead made him hate humans.
Splinter was likely written that way to be a parallel to Superfly, a fellow mutant who also hated humans and who controlled the mutants under his care (his "brothers and sisters") out of a similar protective instinct that Splinter has with his sons. Except while Superfly controls his family through fear and doesn't see the good in people, Splinter was able to see hunanity's goodness through April and was motivated to act out of love, until he saw that he needed to give his boys and humans a chance to coexist.
Well there are actually many depictions of Splinter being a rat who just happens to learn Ninjitsu, but the hating humans part is a new element
I miss the lore of him originally being the pet of Hamato (a Japanese martial arts master)

1) I suspect at latest it happened after they hired a Chinese guy for the part and figured it'd be a good idea to generalize a lot of the martial arts stuff instead of tie him directly to Hamato (hence 'learning' ninjitsu instead of more complicated lore).
2) I GUESS Splinter having problems with humans post-mutation HAS technically been a thing in some other versions
3) RISE, the series right before this, already did the idea of Splinter looking goofy but secetly being badass (which is where i thought this movie was going) so perhaps they t hought itd look too much like a copy.
I really didn’t like that. Splinter as a mutated ninjutsu master or pet of a ninjutsu master who he learned martial arts from is objectively cooler in my opinion.

i actually really enjoyed the human designs in this movie because it totally goes against most movies want for symmetry and perfection. It directly pushes past the boundary of what people normally expect with humans and i think that’s what makes mutant mayhem so fucking epic in it’s own way. All if the asymmetry makes me love the movie more tbh

If they like this movie, I highly recommend watching the director's (Jeff Rowe) previous work, The Mitchell's vs The Machines! He and Mike Rianda did an excellent job with that film, as well as every who worked on it. It's my favorite film of 2021.
When I watched this in theaters, I was with a group of friends, and the second Donnie said Attack on Titan? One of my buds reacted so vulgarly- they genuinely yelled no 😭 idk what AOT did to them but godbless i hope they recover

I really didn't like the direction they were going with the romance between Leo and April, but it was honestly handled very well. And by the end of the movie when the credits started rolling I was like "WHAT!? I thought Leo was gonna ask her to prom!" and then the after credits scene came and I was satisfied

I honestly find the comment about how, if Spiderverse didnt exist, this movie would be blowing people's minds, really interesting. Because they're absolutely right, this movie is kind of stuck in the legacy of Spiderverse. It cant help being compared to it, and it almost lessens the impact this movie can make on its own. But at the same time, without Spiderverse, it wouldnt exist in this form. Yeah, it has its own style and a lot of great unique touches, but it does owe a lot to that big shakeup in 3d animation. I wonder what kind of tmnt movie we wouldve gotten without Spiderverse.

I like how the Spider-Verse 2 animators were overworked by the producers and the 3 FUCKING DIRECTERS!!! (Side Note: even though I'm a kid and I don't know much about filmmaking still I did not know it was possible for movies to have more than one director) but Seth Rogan and Jeff Rowe (the producer and director of this movie) did their best to not overwork the animaters and give them all a really good work-life balance.
Fun fact: Leo’s voice actor played gumball in seasons 5 and 6, and his best voice actor in my opinion.

From what i seen at least, all the turtles have had a crush on april in different versions except raph. In the live action movies and i think a cartoon it was mikey, in the 2012 show it was donnie, and in this it was leo. Yet Donnie seems to be the only one who actually succeeded. I Loved this movie!!!!!! Some parts were annoying cuz large family had kids on their phones and didn’t check their kids. Try and see this movie without annoying kids in the theater! It was so good
Liked the turtles are actually voice by teenagers instead of an adult doing a teenager voice and I especially loved that the animation was inspired by sketchbook drawing that a teen or child would draw in school or home.
Totally looking forward to the 2d animated series on paramount plus, the video game for next year and it's sequel with the shredder.

As someone who grew up with (and will subsequently always be biased towards) TMNT 03, it's pretty damn funny to see teenagers complain that Mutant Mayhem "ruined" the turtles in comment sections when the turtles in this movie act JUST like them.
