I wish Embarrassment, Envy, and Ennui were fleshed out more and shown how harmful they could be if they go overboard, like Anxiety. Anxiety could be anxious of embarrassing Riley by messing up during practice, thus suppressing Embarrassment which in turn would make Riley lose motivation since she’d take no risks in fear of embarrassing herself- Or she could have an embarrassing situation that hinders her confidence. Riley could have felt envious that her friends were going to the same school without her and envious of how good Val is (rather than only admiring her), thus making her want to be better at hockey and make new friends. Ennui could be Riley giving up- she no longer has interest in hockey after all the stress she is going through

@@ezravldina3467 They are in practice very similar! an "anxiety attack" is not a medically recognized term, and just refers to any extreme emotional response involving anxiety. Generally they're triggered by specific circumstances. Anxiety is in every person’s head, since it’s a natural thing. It doesn’t immediately mean Riley has a disorder, so when it’s shown that the parents have it, the anxiety just came back from when they were younger. The mom’s emotions say “welcome back anxiety”

People when kids act cringe in turning red: oh my gosh, this is so bad, I can’t believe Pixar made this. People when kids act cringe in Inside Out 2: wow, it’s so relatable, this is exactly how I felt.
both these movies had extra cringe things though, like I don't think any kid danced and sang a short song while greeting their friend every single day like we saw in Turning Red
@@Whyiseveryhandletaken6942 Honestly, though, I didn’t even get how the kids in *either* movie were cringe, though - they got along well, were vibing and having fun times… as opposed to the boys on _South Park_ always bickering over the most mundane stuff. Like… that’s way more cringe and yet we enjoy it because it’s funny.
@@theamazingspooderman2697 Okay, but how is that cringe, though? They're having a good time, being besties and stuff - that's literally the opposite of cringe. I thought the "cringe" stuff in these movies was when, like, embarrassing stuff happens to the protags, and other such drama?
I can't believe Riley figured out how to handle her emotions by like, 14. Most unrealistic part of the movie tbh. Unless that's actually normal and I'm just mentally unwell
There’s one thing I took away from this movie: whenever I’m sarcastic with my friends there’s a good chance I’m killing emotions in my brain every time
They played it off as a joke but the looming Nostalgia emotion is actually terrifying paired with the Joy line that was something like, "maybe you just have less joy growing up."
Pixar managed to make a top 10 highest grossing movie of all time, and it's an S tier movie, and it has several marketable characters in it. Buuuut, the line "A new emotion" wasn’t in it. Eh, we all have our vices.
Honestly... they try so hard to be funny all the time it's upsetting. They talked over a lot of important parts, including the one that hits the hardest, about feeling less joy when you grow up.
The colours on the rainbow shirt are a reference to her first five emotions. The fact that it doesn't fit anymore is a reference to her being about to gain several more emotions/colours
2:12 Okay, so basically, one trick I discovered to convert from inches to centimetres (I'm Australian) is to divide by 2, then multiply by 5, so the reverse would be done from centimetres to inches (divide by 5, then multiply by 2). It's not exact, but it lands you right in the ballpark. So for example, 12 inches (a foot) is 30 centimetres, as you divide 12 by 2 to get 6, then multiply 6 by 5 to get 30. Now, for 7 centimetres, first we divide by 5. Now, for numbers not naturally divisible by 5, what I do is multiply it by 2 first, then divide by 10 - so for 7, we get 14, then 1.4. And 1.4 multiplied by 2 is 2.8, so 7 centimetres is roughly 2.8 inches. And after running the math(s) on Google, it turns out 7 centimetres is actually 2.75591 inches, so... again, roughly in the ballpark.

I had a similar middle school experience. No phones allowed in school, computer access was very rare, harsh punishments for breaking dress code (one kid lost an entire day of recess because he wore a T-shirt _under_ his uniform), there was always pee on the toilet seat, and due to poor funding and a severe staff shortage, the only teacher with basic plumbing skills passed them onto _me_ before leaving the job, so I would have to fix a toilet almost every day for the entirety of 8th grade. I didn’t complain because I thought it was a normal middle school experience apart from us being lucky enough to still have recess. Heck, I even felt _honored_ that I was smart enough to be the school’s plumber. Anyway, I’m still shocked whenever the kids in my Discord come online while in school.
This movie made me AND my sister ball our eyes out. I'm currently in college and everything that Riley went through in this movie is still 100% relatable in college.

Riley could have felt envious that her friends were going to the same school without her and envious of how good Val is (rather than only admiring her), thus making her want to be better at hockey and make new friends.
Ennui could be Riley giving up- she no longer has interest in hockey after all the stress she is going through

i like how this movie never made anxiety out to be 100% bad, she just wanted to protect riley, in her own warped way. just like in real life. her reaction to rileys sense of self saying "i'm not good enough" is heartbreaking
the song that plays when Joy takes Sadness to the tree is so damn BEAUTIFUL
Fun fact: the composer said this song is inspired by Everything in its Right Place by Radiohead
Eden’s middle school experience went from 0 to 100 real quick. Was like “yeah, no phones and dress code isn’t that crazy” but then 💩in the sinks…
Pretty normal to me, people kept getting in trouble in my middle school for smearing them on the bathroom walls

There’s one thing I took away from this movie: whenever I’m sarcastic with my friends there’s a good chance I’m killing emotions in my brain every time
They played it off as a joke but the looming Nostalgia emotion is actually terrifying paired with the Joy line that was something like, "maybe you just have less joy growing up."
