With the flights my family and I get, we are allowed carry on and personal items. We STILL make sure to under pack- only filling our roller bags (20 inch carry on) half to maximum 2/3 way, and keeping all valuables and one small outfit each into ONE personal bag. Why? Because we like to SHOP. So that means, on the way back, we’ve got about 4 halves of the 4 carry on rollers, and if need be, 3 additional personal bags. That’s a TON of space. A ton. So if we wanna buy whatever souvenirs or clothes or whatever at the destination there is NEVER a worry about having enough space coming back.
"Just walk your butt on the plane" --- LOL. Another packing tip: Try the "buddy system" with each item. For example, socks go inside shoes, fold underwear inside t-shirts, fill any pockets with small items...basically anywhere you have space should be filled with something.
Good tip. The buddy system for sure works cause there are times we had to broaden our view of our capacity by considering mixing our items. Good point. Kamau shared the socks in shoe trick in our previous packing video cause you're right, you add a lot of space by doing those. Thanks for sharing those tips!
These are great tips! I will try them on my next trip. In the winter I like to wear a down feather jacket that is for any climate bc it also makes a great pillow for the plane ✈️. I like using the Tom Bihn pillow cover. Love their bags too! 😎
Oh really? Interesting cause you guys are full time travelers. We often do one shoe as well but when we're headed out of town for events or diffident climates, it's helpful too have more than one.
Same here with the packing cubes. It doesn't really work when you're trying to maximize space. Maria makes us pack one set of nice clothes and we almost never use it. So we stopped going to nice places all together. 😝 We also try to look for places with washer and dryer. That's the way to go. With a personal bag we can probably survive up to 2 weeks if we have a washer and dryer. Or we might buy a couple of extra items and mail them back. haha
YES! Washer/dryer or mail back is always winners. So happy to be in good company, you guys travel a lot like we do. Lol to the we stopped going to move places all together. Sand impressive that you can go up to 2weeks
Been trying to find something for a “weekender” ideas cause I’m only going to be a my cousins for three days and one of those days is a wedding night. Dilemma I’m going from Oklahoma 80-99 degrees to Alaska 45-69 degrees lol
We've been in a similar situation! Went from NYC winter to Germany winter to New Zealand and Singapore summer. So we had to really think through our layering. I suggest definitely doing the coat over bag trick, so you don't have to pack it inside of your back. Then just throw it in the overhead with your weekender.
we've been needing tips with just packer a personal back! usually we bring a personal and carry on, as well with a full luggage! Definitely never go through all the items we bring with us, so this is super helpful!
The hubby and I have flown to Orlando (3d/2n) and Vegas (5d/4n) with JUST a personal item. As a Recovering-Over-Packer, it CAN BE DONE! So much to the point, when we did fly with a Carry-on and Personal Item, we felt over packed! Ha! If at all possible, skip the checked luggage. It DOES add to your trip experience!
I appreciate the tips. Im doing a ten day carry on only 🤞 trip. I find most packing videos are for size small people who can cram 20 outfits in a backpack. I really appreciate a normal sized video cause like our clothes are not the size of a hanky. Great content yall keep it up.
Such a good point! I've definitely noticed that about packing videos. Or everyone is going to warmer climates where they don't have much clothing on for that trip. Happy you enjoyed it.
Thank you! I was stressing trying to make sure this video made sense haha. And yes, I felt like I was dressed for a winter storm, with our heat on haha. Put some pep in my step to say my lines quickly. Haha.
I have the mini weekender which without the bottom can pass for personal bag on most airlines. I think the weekender is bigger. So I'd consider that. Definitely measure it.
Great Tips! Also, I'm making each of my family members wear a jacket or windbreaker with large outer and inside pockets, and I'm going to fill those up as well
I went 3 months,16 countries with a carry-on. I've mastered a capsule wardrobe with just a few items that mix and match. I get 18 outfits with 4 tops, 4 bottoms and 2 dresses. I also bring a swimsuit. Less is more and I can't tell you how many times this has saved me. I've been in situations where I've needed to move quickly and having one bag is a lifesaver. I use the ebag weekender backpack and have a little purse inside for going out. LESS IS MORE
I’m traveling with United this week international basic economy, I had purchased the weekender bag you had in your description but I’m afraid it won’t fit .. please help !!!
You should be okay using that bag as a personal item. I would use the bottom part though. I didn't for my trip either and it fit. Lay it flat on its side when sliding it under the seat. Enjoy your trip! Where are you headed? For Europe, i think basic economy is allowed a carry-on too.
What a coincidence, i just flew with it recently. With the bottom connected, it fit under the seat 😱. I flew United and sometimes their underseat can vary in size in my experience. The way I fit it was flat on its side (no upward with handles up) and slide it in. My bag was pretty full and it fit.
@@73082bori i would leave the bottom part off. And i have the mini weekender, not the regular size. I'd say that one may be too big but you can also try putting less items in it so it's more malleable and can fit under the seat. Definitely no bottom part.
Wait- I read the list of items you had in your bag, but it looks like you also have a laptop in there even though it wasn't on the list. This is important to me as I really NEED to take my laptop which looks like about the same size (it measures 15X10). But I also need some clothing and other necessary items of course. Does a laptop actually fit in this bag and still allow room for all that other stuff?
Yup. It fits in this bag and it leaves a good amount of room for more items. I feel like since it has its own sleeve, its tucked away in its own area which allows me to feel like I'm starting with an empty bag. Let me know if that helps!
I purposefully purchase smaller versatile laptops since I edit on the go a lot and so I can play the Sims on the go while travelling since it relaxed me haha. But small doesn't always mean light. So check out the specs before buying.
Hi Selena! I want to ask because you guys fly United a lot, would this work for a personal bag for United? If it’s an inch above the 10” height is that ok?

We only carry one pair of shoes, so we gotta make sure they are comfortable and they look good with every piece of clothes we have lol

Lol I don't all the time but I definitely have more now that we do youtube videos. -SE

The longest time I’ve traveled with a personal bag is 1 week.
Yes I think the "just in case" is what kills me lol
Its a killer of space and then there are times you don't end up wearing the extra stuff.

Those are little the biggest rules of traveling.
Hi is this a good bag for United basic economy first time flying trying to figure this out lol
This bag does work for basic economy. In the video I give some details on how to make sure it does
Selena you look ready for a winter storm dressed like that hahahah
Good video girl!

I have been stressed lol I have a carry-on luggage and also my beis weekender as my personal item but afraid Delta will have an issue 😩 Help 🥺

Tryna be honest haha cause I will likely change my mind since it's 2 months from now.

I love this! Liking the strategy. You gotta do what you gotta do. Haha
So I decided to fly with a regular backpack....can it be any size ?🙃
Check the measurements to the bag allowance from there airline.
@@TheCityandBeyond thank you 😊

Lol hoping covid-19 does not mess up the plans. Fingers crossed. Partially why we want to hold off on announcing where we're going.

Does the bag full bag fit under the seat or did you have to remove the it? I'm really loving the shape of the bag. I have the original weekender.
