This is great! I’m heading to Florida on American for 3 days and I’ve been hearing non stop losses of carry ons because they’ve been gate checking later boarding groups and losing their carry ons! I packed a Kenneth Cole backpack like this to shove under the seat!
I appreciate you making this video, I’ve been shopping around for flights and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it work for the cheap price to pack. Thanks for everything.
I do something similar when it comes to liquids. I look up the closest pharmacy or store to the hotel where I’m staying... I buy what I need there and then continue on with my trip. Like you I also do laundry wherever I’m staying even on a cruise. A few years ago, I spent three weeks traveling with only a carry-on bag. I flew to Sydney Australia and then went on a cruise to New Zealand. I am a 6 foot tall, plus size woman and if I can do it, anyone can.

Sorry you’re getting such grief from a few people..I’m plus also and use a similar bag. Absolutely nothing wrong with what you are doing (but you know that!) I use a gallon freezer bag for everything except my liquids. It lies flat and I believe it saves room. I take one of those mesh hangy things with pockets and some tiny bungee hooks. I put everything in the pockets, and it has never been so easy to find things and it hangs anywhere.
I was wondering if you ever measured the bag from front to back with stuff in it? Like did it go over the 8 inch requirement on several airlines? Trying to find a bag that I could use as a personal item bag, which will be my first time doing since I always use a carry on. I also tend to overpack as well.
I always do a 7 night cruise in carry-on only. I think I've brought a regular size suitcase once, for a 12 night. I have an under the seat bag too, but it's a bit smaller than yours. I use it for my hotel night before/after clothes. I'm curious to see how much I could get in there if I wanted to use it for more...I know I could get at least 3-4 nights.
I really wish you would have shown and listed the amounts of each type of clothes you packed. It would give a better idea of how many pieces someone could fit into that size bag. Also, I really like videos that show the different outfits people pack when they mix and match their carryon bag or in this case personal bag maybe you can do a video like that I would watch it. Other than that I liked your video. You have a new subscriber
That bag is not going to work on United Airlines. Their requirements are; 9x10x17. I live in a somewhat remote area which is only served by United. And, yes, they will bust you on that tiny size requirement and make you check it, which is very expensive. Hence making your bargain priced basic economy fare much more expensive.
On United you get a carry-on for free. Plus a personal bag. I think she referring to Airlines like Spirit and Frontier that charge for carry-on. Personal with them is 18x14x8.
@@vedapernell6602 That is no longer the case. If you buy what they call their bargain priced "basic economy", you are only allowed one personal item and no carry-on at all. The "basic economy" price is what we used to pay on United for "economy" which included a carry-on and a personal item. Not any more. You must pay extra for that and it's usually a lot extra.
I have flown MANY times but I had an odd experience in November. We were flying to Disney and had booked SW because they were the only ones still flying nonstop. I had heard that checking a bag would be safer because then you wouldn’t be standing in the aisle putting your bag up and taking down (I used a hard sided case because, again, I thought it would be cleaner). The only thing I took on the plane with me was a small crossbody about the size of a qt size toiletry bag. (It was also clear because I thought it would make going through security at Disney quicker.) I had only my phone, small cardholder wallet, portable charger, and tiny USB fan in it so it wasn’t overly stuffed. I had wrapped the removable crossbody strap wrapped around my waist so it became a fanny pack. After I was seated the flight attendant told me I had to put it on the floor under the seat in front of me! Eww! Luckily my mom was sitting next to me and let me put it in her backpack (which was under the seat in front of her). I still don’t understand why she did that.
As a librarian, trust me, I am all about following the rules and I have an uncle who is a flight attendant so I DEFINITELY respect them and their authority. So I complied without without complaint. But I refuse to believe that my small crossbody with the strap wrapped around my body TWICE was less secure and more dangerous than a large hardcover book or heaven forbid an infant in arms. I’ve had heavy books fall on me and even hit me in the head. The more I’ve thought about it, the more I’m convinced that she said it because she could.

take a very small empty spray water bottle in your luggage - like from Sally's Beauty supply. Fill with water uipon arrival. Hang wrinkled stuff and lightly spray front, back, and sides. Wrinkles fall out in SECONDS. Bathroom and steam not needed. Best fabrics are blends - but even works with cotton and wool!!!! Try it at home - you'll LOVE this!
Or you can get actual compression cubes - a lot less trouble (especially if you're on the move and having to pack each day you're away). But what really impressed me about this video is that you're a plus sized girl packing for a week in a personal item bag. I'm so sick of listening to these chics who boast about packing for a week (or even just a weekend) only in carry on 🙄 (Oh and this 1 was a classic: packing carry on only for a beach vacation. @@ginamills5597 don't listen to her tips as you can see the way she shoved the clothes in and they looked really wrinkled before ... roll tightly and neatly into ziplock bags and compression cubes not those stupid bags she used ... they are good for huge cases to pack massive jumpers and coats etc not to shove into a tiny bag!
take a very small empty spray water bottle in your luggage - like from Sally's Beauty supply.
@@nuvoclassic cool. thanks. i'll do a test run at home. luckily, i have plenty of time before my next trip.
Where can I find this bag?
Link is in the bio of the video.
Or you can get actual compression cubes - a lot less trouble (especially if you're on the move and having to pack each day you're away).
But what really impressed me about this video is that you're a plus sized girl packing for a week in a personal item bag.
I'm so sick of listening to these chics who boast about packing for a week (or even just a weekend) only in carry on 🙄
(Oh and this 1 was a classic: packing carry on only for a beach vacation. I mean SERIOUSLY? It's the beach! How much do you really need??? It's not like you're having to pack snow gear!)
Lol so true. I did another packing video recently with cubes too.
@@HaleewithaFlair yeah I checked that 1 out after I watched this 1. This 1 was more impressive.
But I plan to check out your channel.
Love how practical you are
@@susie9893 thank you! More to come ❤️
what about Allegiant airlines?
This applies to them as well
You can easily maximize the free personal item bag if you use a Nomad Lane Bento bag. I am using it and it is a game changer. The fact that I am a heavy packer and all the things I need can fit inside. It is also very convenient because it has a lot of compartments.
